First, walking into the office the receptionist was very friendly and helpful with filling out the additional paperwork they need that is not on their website. After completing that I waited a few minutes then Dr. Johnson took me back to an exam room where she asked me some additional questions about my initial accident and the issues I have had since then along with any information from my ortho that would be beneficial for treatment. From there she brought me out into the therapy room and did a few test for range of motion, did a nice shoulder massage, some exercises, then ice before concluding our appointment. She also gave me a print out of the exercises for me to do at home until my next appointment. Walking into my first PT appointment i was a little nervous seeing everyone out doing their treatments together since i tend to be a little on the shy side and have social anxiety however, Dr. Johnson kept talking to me and all the other PT's are talking with each other so it is easy to join in the conversation especially with the other patients whom were all friendly as well. This will be my home twice a week for the next 3 to 6 weeks depending if I need surgery or not then maybe a little while longer. I highly recommend not only Dr. Johnson but the other PT's at the Fairfax location as well. I did not see one with a bad attitude or seem like they are just there to collect a paycheck. Dr. Wagner appears to be the authority for Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections, which might help with the tendonitis, and was recommended for prolotherapy of the hip. As an aside, if you're looking to do RPR, make sure you don't have Aetna, as they are the only insurance that doesn't cover this procedure. My DO (who I've reviewed here) refers his patients to Dr. Wagner for prolotherapy of the hip because he does it under fluoroscopy (a continuous X-ray), which is important because the hip joint is such a deep joint you don't want to go in there blind. Dr. Wagner seems like a nice guy, and very knowledgeable in his fields. After the first visit he ordered an MRI with contrast. At the second visit he checked out the MRI and it turns out that I don't have a torn labrum so he was unable to help me, and by the time the second visit came around I had my tendonitis under control. However, his demeanor and his apparent abilities gets him four stars in my book, although it should be noted that I have not had that much interaction with him. One thing that should be known about him is that when the diagnosis deals with something that falls outside his expertise he gives very conservative advice. For example, if one were to have femur-acetabular impingement he would advice no running, rowing, cycling, or any weight lifting that puts additional load onto the hip, even if it doesn't cause pain. This is not a bad thing, but a good thing, playing it safe with issues he's unfamiliar with is very reasonable. I merely mention this because I feel like it should be worth noting.

I have NEVER had a medical professional speak to me like he did. Ridiculously condescending-in fact I couldn't believe I was in an actual Dr.'s office. He informed me: 'we know more about you than you realize. Oh yeah, we know all about you. More than you know...' Experience was horrible, just horrible. I went home and cried. I would never go back to this man nor this practice. I asked for details on procedures & he refused to share any info as I'd seen a different Dr. in the practice (once) some 4 years prior- and he said - you'll have to go back to prior Dr. and see what he thinks. When pressed for details on injections he just said 'we'll put in a little bit here and a bit there'- whatever the other Dr. you saw thinks. So I paid a consult for him to say nothing, be horribly condescending throughout the visit, send me back to another equally bad Dr. who I would obviously have gone back to if I'd liked initially.  I don't want to be contacted by anyone at NSPC, in fact I never want to visit an NSPC again.  I did end up finding an amazing regenerative doctor elsewhere. Although I have already had numerous X-rays, MRIs, and CT scans, additional X-rays were taken during my visit. I showed Dr. Sundar an insurance approval letter for a new infusion that will help my pain and condition but he said he was not familiar with the medication. I told Dr Sundar I was experiencing new pain that started 2 days ago and thought it to be Sciatica but he totally dismissed me, he would not check out condition. He told me he does not prescribe pain medication and could refer me to physical therapy, order new MRIs, and schedule steroid injections months down the road. I asked if there was anything that could help with my pain until those treatments took effect. He replied that if I was in pain, I should go to the emergency room. When I questioned why new X-rays were taken after he said X-rays don't show those problems, the conversation became confrontational. I felt he raised his voice and spoke to me in an unprofessional manner, so I chose to leave. I understand that doctors have different approaches to pain management, but every patient deserves to be treated with respect, compassion, and professionalism. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. There are many different NSAIDS that are prescribed for pain daily, this doctor does not have to prescribe a narcotic but could have easily prescribed Motrin or Voltaren Gel or given an insert for how to treat Sciatica but this doctor just says he does not prescribe medication period. However if you pull him up on his Youtube channel he list his protocols and the first thing on his list is Medication.

The nurse proceeded to take off her perfectly functional splint, knowing before Doctor Moody even entered the room that he was unable to do anything for her condition. Despite this, he subjected my young child to multiple, uncomfortable attempts to re-splint her with someone who also looked uncomfortable, achieving nothing but causing distress. We were sent away with zero guidance, no follow-up plan, and no communication about next steps outside of a sheet of paper. The fact that the clinic knowingly went through an entire unnecessary process, charging us for it, is unacceptable. To make matters worse, the financial and follow-up communication has been non-existent. We paid $300 at the time of the visit and have now been wrongfully billed an extra $89. I have called four times and spoken with a live agent who provided a "direct phone number" to resolve this, yet absolutely no one has returned my calls. Ortho Virginia has left us high and dry--not only failing to provide adequate medical direction but actively ignoring repeated attempts to resolve an unjustified bill. This level of negligence and disregard for patient concerns is appalling. We expect an immediate refund for services rendered and for the erroneous extra billing to be dropped.

Or go straight to his website (not VA sports and spine, but VIRGINIA sports and spine) The most interesting thing I found about Dr. Farid was that the first time I used him for a chronic issue in both arms, I fully expected to be getting treated for an extended amount of time in order to fix this injury. I even may have asked him "how many appointments do you think it will take? a couple dozen or so?" He explained how he "didn't think so at all" and that he "prefers to fix patients for the long-term in as low a number of visits as possible" and that my issue "shouldn't take more than 3-5 appointments before we should re-assess whether there is enough progress to continue to use his treatment, versus seeking a surgical solution" WTF?! I was thinking, "What kind of chiropractor does that?!" After completely repairing those issues, I came back to him to see if he could fix my shoulder too. He is now in a new office and this review is about his new downtown Fairfax location. Received absolutely top-tier service again, and for a significantly lower price. (Take advantage of him now, because he is clearly undercharging in order to show the community what he can do.) Dr. Farid took as much time as I felt was needed (and significantly more than any other doctor I have ever been to) in order to understand the issue. After listening to the full history of my injury, he did some doctor-y movement-y stuff and identified the problem. He then explained the underlying cause of the injury and his therapy plan. At that point, he began my treatment. His website is not lying when it says he provides highly-specialized treatment. That is exactly what I saw. He's also a really friendly guy, which makes the appointment much better. Seems to have a pretty nice facility that looks like it caters to sports injuries. Makes sense, considering my injury was shoulder-related and he clearly had significant experience dealing with athletic movement-types of injuries. However, this is the most poorly designed building for people with sports injuries. The drop off zone has no handicap ramp for folks with mobility issues. Meaning no wheelchair or crutch accessibility for the drop off area. In fact, I call the drop off area the "danger zone trap for the disabled." Look at the drop off area photo. Especially when it rains, the separate pieces of stone get very slippery. After the danger zone maze of terror, your injured loved one now has to go through the American ninja warrior obstacle course and use the one sidewalk available to navigate around a expansive well manicured lawn to enter the building. It's immensely tiring for someone. Especially someone injured. I hope they make some design changes because the doctors visit alone could potentially could exacerbate injuries! Funny story - while I was writing this review an elderly patient needed to go to an attached building to get a vaccine. She noted that she was a nurse, it was raining, and "come on!" she didn't want to have to walk "all around the building in the rain!" To get to the other side of the building. Although the receptionist told the elderly nurse could not go through go the building, she did it anyways! Again, poor building design that does not focus on the patient experience.

Persistently Non-communicative Office Support When Trying to Coordinate Care…read more On one hand, the doctors at INOVA Medical Group Sports Medicine are great - the challenge is getting the office support to respond in order to receive the care needed. We contacted them to get my wife's gel shots for her knee, which we have been doing since late 2023. Seems like every time is the first time they've done this. This year we contacted them in April to order the shots and never received a call back. Called again in May... nothing. Called again in June, and they finally ordered the shots but with two issues: it was a different prescription than my wife has had before that cost over 3x as much ($1466.99 vs $368.92) and because they didn't get it filled til July, the cost was 100% on us, since we were now in a new deductible year for our insurance (begins 1 July). When my wife tried to get help from the nurse manager, my wife got blamed for this dilemma and then via mychart messaging said she would no longer engage on this issue, since I reached out to INOVA Patient Relations for their assistance - who have also not returned any of my calls. Additionally, I messaged my wife's doctor directly via mychart and have not received any communication there as well. I've spoken with initial office staff who logged our concerns on 19, 24, and 26 August - promised each time I'd receive a call back; but none have occurred. Very disappointing to be stonewalled this way considering the great medical care we've both received from the doctors in this practice. 27 Aug UPDATE: After writing the above on 26 August, sent this to my doctor and let them know I'd be posting this on the 27th if I hadn't heard anything back from them by noon that day. Saw a mychart post that they called and left a VM for my wife on her mobile that morning. I've previously explained to them that my wife has no cell access during their operating hours, and have repeatedly given them my number instead since I'm retired and available all throughout the day. Called that person back in the morning and once in the afternoon and sent the info to my wife who called and had to leave a VM as well, but neither of us ever received a call back, today (27th). Called their main number and was connected to one of the persons who attempted to help me previously. She apologized and said that she was messaging with the office manager and that it had been elevated. She confirmed my number and said I'd receive a call from one of the same two people who were supposed to have called me on the 24th. I asked if they'd call me today, and she said they'd call when they got out of their meeting; told them I'd be patiently waiting. No one called. Feels like this office staff is giving us the silent treatment, waiting us out... hoping we'll just go away. 28 Aug UPDATE: It's after 11am and no call. Reached out to their practice manager (again) and left her a VM. Received no calls again today.

He shows you the X-rays , educates you and follows up diligently so you can see what is happening. He is always available to answer all questions. I also had a friend (over 60) who had a complete shoulder replacement. My friend showed me the X-rays and demonstrated how his shoulder works now - truly a miracle! He has completely recovered and has full use of his shoulder so he can do what he wants to do again. He followed through with all physical therapy but attributes the success to Dr. Petruccelli's skill as a surgeon.
