Initially we were so much confused and worried when we look at lab results and other consultations. But Everything was cleared by Dr. Sachse once we meet him. From our initial consultation through the post-operative care, we were consistently impressed by Dr. Sachse's expertise and professionalism. He is clearly a highly knowledgeable surgeon who took the time to thoroughly explain the procedure, address all my concerns, and ensure I felt comfortable and informed every step of the way. I am incredibly grateful for Dr. Sachse's skill and care. If you are in need of surgical intervention, my wife and I wholeheartedly and without reservation recommend consulting with Dr. Sachse. His talent is a true gift, if you are facing surgery and looking for a highly competent and caring surgeon, look no further than Dr. Sachse. What truly stood out was not only his surgical talent but also his friendly and reassuring demeanor. You will be in excellent hands.

But this time I met Dr Michael G Svestka and I'm lucky I did, Everyone in the office made me feel comfortable and welcome. The doctor Michael G Svestka & p.a. Took time not only to explain what would happen but to listen to what I had to say specially Dr. Svestka a general surgeon took his time and very patiently listened to everything I had to say and ask and it gave me a comfort and trust which made my surgery appointment as easy as a lunch appointment absolutely I recommend Dr. Michael G Svestka.hope I don't have to have surgery again, but if I do I hope to see Dr. Michael G Svestka and his team at Virginia surgery associates again. I advised that I'd had hernia surgeries before, but that the hernias had not shown up on imaging. He then proceeded to order imaging, and didnt see anything. He refused to operate. I had to see another two surgeons, the latter of whom finally agreed to operate and look for the cause of my pain. He found it and resolved it. Dr Svetska was patient, kind, and professional, but was unable to find what turned out to be a fairly simple issue to resolve. He can learn a lot from the doctor I wound up seeing through Medstar in Brandywine, MD. Sad story but true. Find a doctor who is willing to go the distance to help you, with/through his or her expertise. Dr Svetska, unfortunately, is not that doctor.

I had an initial consult regarding an issue that had been causing me quite a bit of personal stress and anxiety. The physical exam was performed with the utmost respect for the intimacy of the situation. I felt safe and comfortable throughout the exam and was certain it was done with integrity and skill. After the exam was completed I was asked to get dressed and meet in the office to discuss my options. How often this step is overlooked by providers!! There is no situation where it is appropriate to discuss next steps with a doctor while undressed and feeling vulnerable. I was given a variety of surgical options and was told to review, research and return with a decision. There was no pressure to decide on the spot. My questions and concerns were completed addressed and I left feeling as if I chose to pursue a surgical intervention that I was in extremely competent hands. I did choose surgery. I found Dr. VonPechmann's beside demeanor matches his surgical skill. His pre-op interactions were confident and compassionate and I knew that I was in great care. I had some post-op concerns and he was very willing to flex to my needs. I felt like Dr. VonPechman heard my concerns and intervened accordingly. I recommend this doctor without any hesitation.

Worst Doctor and Surgeon I've ever had…read more This was a surgeon I had to consult due to a large tumor on my spleen. He was VERY careless, did not answer questions and makes jokes when I had concerns. The surgery turned out bad for me - I had an open splenectomy (an open splenectomy was not planed, but as the doctor said he didn't know that the tumor was as big as a grapefruit. Strangely and Ultrasound was done right before the surgery and he must have forgotten to look at it...??) After the surgery I thought I was going to pass away - the incision was too big and my lungs had collapsed while I was awake again... but the doctors did not believe me when I could still speak and told them that I could not breathe. Anyways... so the incision was three times as long as supposed to and got infected afterwards, due to some staples/particles that were caught up inside. I didn't know at that time and said that fluid was coming out of the healing cut... he said "That's normal". So I went to Europe a few weeks later for a visit, when my incision opened up at different places one night... I had to go to the ER over there and they found that I had large infections inside the cut... and then they found those particles that were left inside. I came back to the US and confronted the doctor but he said he would not believe it. If I had had all my proof and more health and energy, I would done more about this. But I did not. All I can do now is to share my nightmare experience on yelp. I have been through such a nightmare because of that terrible surgeon... it took me over a year to recover... physically and mind-wise. Don't listen when people tell you he has a great reputation. I had my surgery at Inova Fairfax Hospital which I would never recommend either. But that's a different story.

I went to him for bilateral inguinal hernias. I found him to be very personable as he explained the options I had and what he would recommend. He suggested laproscopic surgery as the success rate was just as high as open repair when doing bilateral hernias. He also informed me that he would have a colleague assist him who was extremely well versed in laproscopic hernia repair. I was in and out of the hospital the same day and although uncomfortable for a week or so I quickly recovered and at 4 weeks was up to speed gradually running a few miles at a clip and slowly increasing my weight lifting back to pre-surgery training. It's been about 4 months now and i feel great. Every once in awhile I'll have some funny kind of sensation in my groin - kind of like when you hit your funny bone, but that's about it. I would definitely recommend Dr Saver.

After reading the reviews for Dr. Purkert on Healthgrades.com, vitals.com, and in various discussion boards related to thyroid cancer, I decided to move forward with him. My wife and I were highly anxious about this situation, but Dr. Purkert's calm and patient demeanor went a long way towards setting us at ease. He rationally and unhurriedly explained everything about the surgery, the disease itself, and went over all questions we had. It's hard to say anything is "great" related to cancer, but really the experience is best described as such. He took all the time we needed, and we never felt rushed. Plus, he has a very calm way about him that was reassuring. As for the surgery, he performed it remarkably at Inova Fairfax Hospital. The man has skill, for sure. He removed the entire thyroid, but was able to save all four parathyroids. In fact, he even removed one parathyroid, checked it for cancer, and re-implanted it successfully. No nerve damage/vocal changes. I am only six months out, and already the scar is shockingly small. I feel it was a wise decision to go with Dr. Purkert. His positive reputation in thyroid surgeries is well-deserved.
