The firm then proceeded to stretch the case out across multiple needless additional court visits over the course of a year for the sole purpose of racking up billable hours and "negotiating" with the other party and their attorney along the way, all while keeping the case away from the judge and out of a hearing because it would've easily and mercifully have ended should that happen. We began to suspect the attorney was mishandling our case and got to the point we felt continuing to use him was actively sabotaging our chances at the proper outcome. In effort to protect ourselves, we later had our case reviewed by another attorney who explicitly told us based on this firm's handling of our case, that's exactly what was happening. Communication was poor and at times outright callous, and at no point did I or my family ever feel this attorney or his firm were looking out for anyone other than themselves and racking up as many billable hours as possible. This firm will rationalize it's attempts to charge hundreds of dollars for simple correspondence as well, from 5 minute phone calls they themselves initiate, to emails no longer than a few sentences and everything in between, so prospective clients beware.

After an initial court denial from the court, we decided not to continue to pursue the matter, but their office filed suit without consulting with us on the path forward. We asked them to file a non-suit and end the case. That was all they did, yet somehow, they deemed our invoice come to a total of over $3,000. Most of the charges were the communications we needed to make to correct their errors, and of course the filing they neglected to confer with us about, then the non-suit filing. Not once did the attorney have to actually appear in a courtroom. On top of that, their office has ignored the majority of our communication attempts and typically did not respond to our early calls/e-mails for days. This is a very unprofessional office and are run as a money-grab scheme. Do not use Mark Lane.

My ex filed for the divorce and I truly thought I was screwed until I contacted Mark Lane. he was very professional. His staff was very professional, they always returned my calls. Even going into my divorce with Mark all I was hoping for was not having to pay for attorney fees, which I thought I was gonna have to do not only did I not have to pay for my attorney fees, but I got a considerable amount in the settlement, which I did not expect at all, and it was because he dug very deep into my exes finances and found much information that I wasn't even aware of. I'm sure that Mark has his faults, as all attorneys do, but I can tell you from experience. I think he is a very, very good and professional attorney very caring, and although I may not have seen or spoken with him during the divorce, he was at every meeting that was called. He's a very very busy man because he is a very, very good attorney, not only does he handle divorces but he is now doing estate and trust settlements. I understand that that is really what he wants to do so he's trying to do less divorce cases but I highly recommend Mark if you want a really good professional attorney and expect a good outcome, you need to make sure to hire Mark. This is our first time using their services and it has been a nightmare. We normally file our taxes…read moreonline, but wanted to use their services because of some changes in our tax return and we wanted to make sure that everything was correct. They assured us that everything will go smoothly. This year (2020), we received a notice CP81 stating that they have not received our tax return for 2017. I immediately called and spoke with Carolina T. and she advised that the system crashed during the time they filed and she said she will issue a refund. She also advised that she will re-file the same day (7/23/20) and she sent me a confirmation email that it was sent. I called the IRS again, hours and days later, and they advised they did not receive it. When I called back to Carolina T. at the CPA office, she indicated that it was filed and it will take some time for it to show up on the IRS side. Well it's now 11/20/2020, and we received another letter from the IRS. The same notice CP81 indicating that the 2017 taxes were not filed. In Summary, I don't believe the story that the system crashed and somehow lost our information or the filing didn't go through. If that was the case, why weren't there blast email or notice sent to people indicating this. Also this is the 2nd time they advised they filed electronically and apparently it still did not go through. I waited to write this review, because I honestly thought this was an honest mistake and out of their control, but now I realize, this is not a good business to work with. Although we did receive a full refund back for their services, this issue is still not resolved, and more and likely we'll probably be paying back interest. When asked if they will be paying the interest, she stated (back in July), that the refund should cover the interest cost if any. This is unacceptable. I was better off using Turbo Tax or H&R Block. I paid the higher amount for ease of convenience and quality. I received neither.
