I've been coming to this Produce Junction for a long time. Everyone knows the parking lot can get very busy, especially around the holidays, so be prepared for that. This place is definitely better for people who cook in bulk or have larger households. If you live alone like I do, you'll probably end up sharing or splitting items because quantities are big. BYOB- bring your own bags not bottle! Lol The staff is generally nice, and they stay pretty well stocked. Just make sure you check your bags carefully before selecting because sometimes you'll find a bruised tomato or something that's starting to spoil. Prices are decent, and they have a nice assortment of flowers with reasonably priced vases, which is always a plus. Overall, it's doable and convenient if you know what you're going for. There are many Produce Junctions throughout the area. This rating is for the Produce Junction on Easton Road Glenside specifically. I've been to two other Produce Junctions and they don't rate this high. But this one? Mwah! Chef's Kiss! Fast lines - the staff is ON IT. If a stocker sees the line is long, they jump into action and help out. No chattering among the team members. No drama. Just "let's get to work" attitudes. LOVE that. The most beautiful produce - You love vegetables, like me? You walk in there, you'll be in a trance for a minute. Fresh. not flailing green veggies that LAST. Every once in a while, something might get a little bit janky in a few days, but that happens when you purchase from the supermarket, right? Which brings us to... The PRICES! The prices here are LOW for what you get. I get overhead. And I do buy fruits and vegetables at the market too. But once you get the pricing board figured out, you can do pretty well here on a budget. And lastly, the FLOWERS! So lovely. So reasonable. I've been to just about every one of the produce junction's in this locally owned chain from the beginning 30 years ago! The one thing that's the same across all of them is that you get good value for the amount of produce even if you have to chuck a piece or two into the compost pile. What's sets them apart and garners a five star review is the fact that they have a large parking lot that is shaped well and easy to navigate compared to many of the other ones. Then surprise of all surprises when you get out of your car the front edge of the store looks like it was architect designed. Picture this : Large tall windows that bring wonderful light into the store and make you feel welcomed. Once inside the surface area for two lines for the fruit and veggies are very long compared to other PJs. Much easier to line up And the final and best thing about this place is the employees are very friendly here. It's only 30 minutes away from my house and as the other ones that I go to are in the 15 to 30 minute range anyway, I think I have found my new go to Produce Junction read more

The employ disrespectful and rude staff. They employ a large Spanish speaking population that use the excuse of not understanding or speaking English as their "first language" as a reason for their unprofessional attitude. In addition, their was one woman who dismissed my concern about her rude attitude by waving me away with her hand in my face. The reason/cause for the attitude: I asked her to verify the cost of the items she quoted me because I thought the price was a bit off. As you know they don't ring anything up but keep the price to memory, calculate things in their head, and give you a price. As a customer, it is my right to confirm the price and total. As a native Spanish speaker, using a language gap as an excuse not provide good customer service is not an excuse. I spoke to the manager who immediately heard my complaint and apologized. Although I tend not to patronize stores where I am disrespected, the manager salvaged the business relationship. read more

This was my first time shopping at produce junction. I was disappointed that all the produce was already bagged so I was unable to pick what I wanted. I bought several items, one of which was corn. 3 of the 6 pieces had large brown spots. It is peak season for corn. It should have been really good. I never seen corn with those brown spots. I've thrown quite a few fundraisers in the past few years and have had a very little budget to work with. Trips to Produce Junction, specifically this location have became something I've done often... PJ's as many of you know is a great place for not only dirt cheap bulk fruits, veggies, garnish items and bundles of fresh herbs, but also for ridiculously inexpensive florals. In other words, a great place to throw together a complete party on the cheap! The only catch is, you need to use the produce quick, like within a few days and you should get there first thing in the morning on a Friday before a weekend event for the freshest flowers and also for your pick of the best variety. I've been to my fair share of PJs and this is by far my favorite. There's and entire room for plants alone and another section for just stems. They have the largest section of florals and plants out of all the locations I've been to. They also have some rather large ones such as tiered topiaries in the spring for example. They always have seasonal items too! I've also been here when they're unloading fresh batches of goodies so if you don't see something or need more of something, just ask. They often have more in the back! PJ is ideal for juicers! I know first hand just how many fruit and veggies go into one fresh juice. The amount you get for your money here is insane. I mean, an entire pound of fresh ginger?! Crazy! You'll also find some fruits and veggies to make you step out of your comfort zone. Each time I'm here I find a new items I've never heard of before and I'm a huge veggie and fruit eater. Try one out each time! I love that about PJ! All Produce Junctions are cash only. There is and ATM on site but the fee is $4 or so. Come prepared with cash and count along with them as they bag. I've had a few instances where they over charged me. read more

For example, if it says 2 lbs for $2, make sure you check if a box is one or two lbs before purchasing. There's a huge parking lot so you won't feel the need to find parking. I will come here again. Cheap Cheap Produce, Flowers, Plants, and More! I found this store when getting my car washed down the street some time ago, and I have been addicted. I usually get produce I use a lot in bulk from Costco, but Produce Junction is giving some serious competition in cost and quality. I have no idea why the prices are so low, but they are. They have a wide variety of fruits AND vegetables, especially with an emphasis on whatever in is season at the time. The herbs are cheap too, which I love. You honestly cannot go wrong, it is like an indoor farmers market, with all customers buying in bulk. Here are some tips for successful shopping here: 1. Bring your own LARGE bag. Less hassle on the way to the car, as there are no carts 2. BRING CASH. I cannot emphasize this enough!!! They will not take another form of payment. 3. Browse first and get an idea of what you want, then get in the line, bc when you get to the front you better know what you want and be ready to pay in cash. 4. Each produce junction tends to carry or primarily sell a specific thing. I've been to others where they are known to either have organics, international produce, super foods, etc. This produce junction has a wide selection of flowers/plants at low prices. They have a nice variety of common fruits and vegetables that you can find at your local market, but here you'll get a better price. However, I would still be wise to compare prices because I've seen where a produce item was actually higher in cost than my local market. At any place, as well as here, I would also caution to check your produce for mold or overripe spots. They have different check out areas depending on what you're purchasing. For example, if your getting veggies, there's a veggie line. There's specific lines for fruit or plants too. The produce is displayed/categorized nicely for easy viewing and picking. So usually I don't mind rehabilitating plants, especially when I find unique finds at Produce Junction on Easton Rd. However, during today's visit I was disappointed in the quality of the three gallon perennials that they were selling for $20. Most of those plants were wilted, dehydrated and half dead. I had $80 worth of plants in my cart and saw a dying Hypericone Hidacote that I would have gladly taken off of their hand if the manager would have agreed to discount it. He declined. When I repeated are you seriously selling this wilted dehydrated plant for $20, he stated he was keeping it at that price. I am disappointed and displeased with the lack of integrity and quality during this visit. He could have atleast taken it to the back and attempted to water it back to life then sell for the asking price. I asked if it's because of COVID (as I stand there wearing a mask and the employee is maskless). She said no, it's because I don't know where your bags have been. I love Produce Junction. I really buy almost all of my produce there. Love the flowers, the massive amounts of produce you can buy for SO CHEAP. But really, a question to the people that work there: Is it really so awful and terrible to be living? My God, I swear, every time you ask for a bag of lemons they reach for it like they are reaching for a noose. It's not that horrible. How about a smile. How about not making me feel like an asshole for asking you a question or for replacing the honeycrisps with red delicious. Seriously. It's not that deep. Put away the tough-guy attitude. Quite frankly the whole "I-hate-my-job" thing is dated and I'm a lot more likely to want to come back if you don't act like my existence makes you want to slice your wrists. You will save money. What I've learned at this place is to inspect everything before buying. When I first bought from this place there was a woman in front of me that was inspecting every bag of fruit that she ordered. Often she was telling the clerk to take it back and get another one. My initial thought was this woman was rude. I now know I was wrong. Furthermore, I would like to dispel the myth of "Buy Cheap, get cheap" when it comes to produce. When you buy at Produce Junction you are typically buying from local farmers. The reasons for the low cost are: 1.) The Transportation of the product is less, therefore the cost is less 2.) Due to the short transportation... the Distributors do not need to coat the produce with preservatives! (The CON: your produce does not last as long). So to sum it up. You are supporting your local grower's and not putting additional preservatives in your body.... just be thorough when inspecting your purchases and you won't go wrong. read more

I want to love this place. Produce that is cheap and fresh. What more could I want to propagate my "illusion of health." I always counter one broccoli floret with a biggie fries and I feel it's a fair trade-off. So when I come here to stock up on fruits, veggies and the odd bag of off-brand trail mix, I know that I will have earned more than a few trips to Sonic, Long John Silver's and other hard-to-find but oh-so-worth-it shitfood. The problem with this whole scenario, though, is that more often than not, the produce at Produce Junction is far from fresh. I once bought a bag of spinach there that, on further inspection back home, revealed stinky wet leaves that made old flower vase water smell like the lavender fields in Provence. No wonder the bag was 99 cents. The bag turned sour somewhere between the produce market and Ogontz Avenue. I think even ALDI turned this produce down. Anyway, I will always go there and give them chances to redeem themselves. I realize that produce is always hit or miss, and sometimes I do get the tasty mango or fragrant basil. But the percentage is far lower than it should be. But I'm sure they don't care, because there are always lines there. I also love the "soup-Nazi" sense that if you're slow with your order (not me....I'm always at the ready), you get the look and the "what else....what else" mantra from the crew. I think people feed off that energy. It's kind of a fun place to visit. I just want the produce to be better.....Arby's awaits. read more

DANG!!! The prices are so good. I was amazed that I filled my entire fridge with produce for less than $100. I could never say the same if I went to ShopRite (where I've shopped the most in the past). It was my first visit. I do wish I got a receipt when I left, but I can see that's not how they roll. I went a little crazy and purchased over 4 bags of produce and just had to trust the cashier that he added the 40+ items correctly. But, I'm sure he is a pro and I have nothing to worry about. Came home and noticed that the strawberries had "stuff" growing in them...This means: cha-ching...$3 gone down the trash. Next up..black-figs...tasted like ewww......$2 gone... Next up....black plums....had no taste whatsoever....another cha-ching $3. Then, cherries....no taste....one more $3. There goes like 10 bucks. I dont think I am coming back. I don't buy any produce from produce junction, but I love this place for sooo many reasons! First, whenever I'm asked "If you weren't a lawyer, what would you be?" My response is always, w/o hesitation "A Florist." Produce Junction allows me to moonlight as a florist on the weekends, filling my house w/ lovely floral arrangements for mere pocket change... I can easily go in and grab a dozen roses, stems of hydrangeas, orchids, and occasionally ranunculus and still get change back from a $20 bill (they are cash only)! AMAZING!! Even more impressive, my husband and I stopped in on December 1st to take a look at their Christmas tree selection. Judging from my past trees, I had expected to spend between $60-80. I like Produce Junction. When I walk in, I don't feel like I'm coerced into buying organic products [and be labeled pariah] like some other chains make me feel. David's advice is a good rule to live by: inspect everything you ingest, whether from Produce Junction or not. And eat these things within a few days. I take my friend almost every other week. He usually gets 2 dozen eggs for $4, red onions, potatoes, bananas, oranges, and blueberries. He rarely spends more than $12. If you are looking for cheap produce that isn't fancy and will be eaten within a few days, then go here. I love this place and always buy my produce here - you can't beat the price. Sure, I've ended up with a few duds but it's better than a dud at the supermarket for 3X the cost. If you are looking to stock up on produce and hoard it, then you probably want to try somewhere else. The produce is good but it doesn't stay fresh for weeks - at most 1 - 1.5 weeks for the more perishable produce. I think in the 10 years I've been shopping there, I have maybe had 3 bags of produce total that were bad. They make giving flowers regularly a possibility! Great prices on roses, plants and they even have a huge Christmas warehouse during the holiday seasons. If they were in my neighborhood I'd be giving flowers on every occasion. Seriously amazing deals, like roses for $4 and bouquets for $6. It's a super shop! I come here and stuff my bag full of as many veggies as can fit, and trek all the way back to Center City. Its like having the Italian Market in a store! $3 for two pounds of brussels sprouts, $2 for Italian Squash, and they sell a bunch of tropical fruits and veggies as well. Great prices on avocados, just about everything. Their root veggies tend to be on the big side, but if you're veggie-heavy like me and need a lot of veggies for not a lot of money for soups, you're def in luck. They have a refrigerator case too - no great deals here on mushrooms or lettuce, but the big guy veggies - potatoes, onions, turnips, winter squash, etc are a true bargain. read more

Golly I always get overwhelmed when I'm up in there--veggie line versus fruit line and whatnot. Great deals and the produce is always fresh and plentiful. You can really get a sense of price differentials when you shop in PJ for one week versus picking up similar items in a nearby grocery store. For me it's no contest. It's well worth adding a stop to your shopping routine in my opinion. I mainly go for the flowers--they have one of the BEST selections of flowers at the very best price point. Really hard to beat, the quality is always well above average with great variety and tons of color. You know, it's not fancy but it does the trick. My thing lately has been shallots. Some stores don't have them at all, the grocery store I usually goes to has them for the equivalent of $16/lb prepackaged in 3 oz packages. Granted, you can't choose your own stuff at produce junction but right now the going rate for shallots at PJ is $1.50 for a 1 lb bag. I'm sure there'll be a dud or three but I saved plenty of money and I can plant or compost the rest. I do avoid the loose greens and the more perishable things. I usually go for lemons or potatoes and generally they've been fine. They've got good prices on seasonal things like $5 carving pumpkins (basketball-ish size) at Halloween, cheap mums.. that sort of thing. The flowers look ok to me and I like to think that my departed relatives don't find them offensive. I'd say if you're fussy skip PJ but even at that if it's convenient for you and you're making something where the final product is going to be relatively indistinguishable like fruit salad, apple sauce, mashed potatoes, etc. you could save yourself some money. read more

Based on price of produce and flowers alone, this place would get 5 stars. However, the customer service and disfunction of the lines inside and out is a horrible inconvenience and headache. Some things are stored behind the counters others are on the floor, and no one wants to help you. The workers are always speaking Spanish and often saying things that aren't pleasant about customers (Spanish is common, they should probably be more polite and careful).
