I've been shopping at Weaver's Way for well over 25 years probably close to 30! I first started shopping at their Green Street location, and now I visit this much larger store. The staff has always been friendly and helpful, and they consistently have an excellent selection of fresh produce, specialty groceries, and plant-based products. Their plant-based dessert selection is especially impressive. One of my favorite features is the bulk section, especially the wide variety of spices. You don't have to be a member to shop, which is a nice bonus. They also offer convenient parking in the back, along with street parking, and the store hours are very accommodating. After all these years, I still haven't become a member but I keep coming back because Weaver's Way is simply a great place to shop. Highly recommended! read more

Our family picked up milk and a few items but said they come here often since close to home. Their customer service was impeccable as I saw 1 of the cashiers run after someone who forgot a bag of groceries and was kind to him as she made sure he didn't leave without his purchases. It's been a year and the saga continues. We still haven't found "our" grocery store. We heard there might be a Weaver's way being put right next to us. So in anticipation we were like let's go check one out. First we drove to the little corner store one. There was no parking and a line out the door. I was like no thanks. So we put the Chesnut Hill one in the GPS. Got there and it had plenty of parking in the back. So we went in! The aisles are tight and the other customers weren't very pleasant on the day we went. That last part can't be blamed on the store. The staff was spectacular. Especially the person who checked us out. The selection here is pretty good. Like Warren said though.... I wouldn't do my regular grocery shopping here. You will need supplemental stores for the basics. Detergent, pet supplies and toilet paper. I really hate to pay over 89 cents a can for beans. I'm not trying to break the bank on rice. The bananas were so ripe. The best thing we got was these Kosher dills that were delicious. I've been just snacking on them raw. In fact writing this is making me want one. Ok I went to the fridge and ate two. Now I'm back. The fine cheese section was really great. If you're concerned about your bill stay away from it. You know how good cheese gets $$$$. A lot of brands I'm unfamiliar with but also you can tell from my reviews I'm cheap. The veggies were great and I got several meats that were excellent quality. So in short the place is pretty cool. I hope they open one close to us. A more convenient location could solidify the deal. read more

Weavers Way has a few locations within my neighborhood and boy am I happy about that! During the height of the pandemic we could always count on both safety and selection. Sometimes ai have no idea what I want to make until I get to the store. There is inspiration on literally every shelf. From meats to specialty items and local veg, they are doing it right. They are like a one stop shop for quality ingredients and keeps the dollars in the community by shopping local. These things are super important these days! read more

While I don't shop here on a regular basis (no car), when I do happen to make it to Chestnut Hill, I always find my shopping experience at this store to be exceptionally pleasant. I'd never come here for 'regular' shopping (that is detergent, paper goods, cat food) but if I am making a special meal, want gorgeous, still life painting quality produce, need an unusual and extravagant treat (generally for myself) or if I have to find a special ingredient or product to accomodate a food allergy/sensitivity, this is a stellar place for that. It's much cozier and way way way friendlier than Whole Foods though I'd say the price points are about the same. As much as I love the charm and cobbled streets of Chestnut Hill, Germantown Avenue doesn't offer me a lot of practical shopping venues. Weaver's Way, though, always rises to the occasion for me and makes me glad I trekked over here. read more

Food co-ops, CSA's farmers markets, Natural food stores etc....right up my alley. I was thrilled to find this little co-op on my way to the coffee shop down the street. it's the size of a small market, but is complete with produce, meats, and dry goods. I decided to check it out and do a little of my weekly shopping there. Other than having great fresh local/organic stuff, there was also some other cool things like a spice area where you buy only what you need (a la carte!), and the fact that the nice man repacked a much to large bin of slivered almonds into a small bin for me to buy-no questions asked. I loved their prepared food section with all the different hummus and pestos- would love to return again :) read more

Absolutely fantastic specialty co-op! I love their store in Mt. Airy and have shopped there many times over the years, and dare I say I enjoy this one more?! Behind door #1 you'll find loads of gorgeous fresh produce. Behind door #2 you'll find a sammy making counter, fabulous finer grocery items,many organic goods, bulk items including spices and grains, delicious prepared foods, and many gluten and dairy free items I haven't seen elsewhere (even at WFM!) Behind #3 you'll find vitamins, homeopathic needs, gift items and toys for children, handmade cards, candles, jewelry, an insanely impressive essential oil section and gift items. Really, what's not to love?! On my most recent trips I picked up vegan walnut basil pesto, veggie Pirate's Booty, chickpea salad, sesame noodles, an essential oil burner, beautiful hand and locally made holiday cards, and absolutely amazing peppermint bulk bath soak made of Epsom salts and essential oil. It was so good I had to come back the next day for more!! Insane!! This location right in the heart of Chestnut Hill has such a great friendly neighborhood vibe to it. It's on the smaller side as is the other location so definitely be mindful especially if you are using a basket and be prepared for a bag fee so be green, and bring your own reusable ones! Prices are comparable to other markets that carry the same higher end goods. If I moved to the area one day this would definitely be an excellent stand in for my usual bigger named market with the same feel and I would without a doubt, buy in and participate in their CSA. I do most of my Co-op shopping in the Mt. Airy store, which is great, but I've been in the the Chestnut Hill location any number of times over the years. A somewhat larger store, it's a bit more spacious than the - shall I say "cramped"? - Mt. Airy location (although I understand they don't have the bulk items they have at the Mt. Airy store). But still, they have the same product lines - and some people seem to think their produce is better than Mt. Airy, although I'm skeptical about that, never having done a direct comparison. I want to give a special shout-out to John (and Asia, too! excellent follow-up assistance) in the prepared foods section - people may not realize that the Co-op offers an excellent food catering service. Several times I've ordered sandwich platters (from the Mt. Airy store) for our business meetings, and they've been excellent, and very reasonably priced. More recently, I hosted a vegetarian dinner party for 13, and did an order with John. He was very helpful to me in making choices about what and how much to order. We centered the meal around the vegetarian lasagna, which was excellent, as were the roasted brussels sprouts and grilled eggplant. Our guests seems to love the mini spring rolls and mini potato samosas. I loved the tofu, but then I'm a huge fan of the Co-op's tofu, which think is about the best I've ever had. For the entire dinner (but without dessert), it came to about $15 per person, and our guests were very well fed (and we had leftovers for at least another 4 more servings). You can get fancier, more expensive catering services, but this was more than adequate. Fresh and freshly made. We scheduled when we wanted to pick the food up hot, and John had it ready right on schedule. Definitely will keep them on our list for future events. read more

Visited Weaver's Way the other day as I was walking down the avenue. Needed some veggies for stir-fry and found so much more. If you enjoy fresh, healthy & organic foods, this is the place for you. The selection of fruits and veggies beats most of your local supermarkets. They have a variety of prepared dips and spreads that look amazing. There's a healthy alternative for almost every kind of food you would find in your major supermarkets ranging from cereals and chips to taco kits and sauces. They have some delicious looking meats, although they are a little more expensive as you might expect. I was also pleasantly to see a little hot bar for lunch and dinner platters to make and take with you. Looked delicious! If you want fresh and organic foods and don't mind spending a tiny bit more, be sure to give this market a try. I will definitely be going back again soon. read more

You can definitely get everything needed for a few meals. I was surprised to find a grain that I have been searching for lately in the supermarkets and whole foods with no luck. Weavers "in the" way. This place is on the small side. Everyone in there thinks they have the right of way to stand about and stare at the shelves longingly like all of the packages have a secret code that needs to be deciphered. That includes the fleet of employees that roam the store. It can get claustrophobic quickly. So you must be wondering why 4 stars? For the small size they pack in a lot of variety. You can find just about everything you need. Well anything you would buy from a Whole Foods type store. The people that work in the store are all very nice, helpful (even when they are being in the way) and eager to assist with questions. read more

This is what American grocery shopping should be: local and sustainable. Weaver's Way Chestnut Hill is fantastic and I am a very satisfied working member of the co-op. I have spent my member hours at their farm in North Philly which is really cool. They grow a lot of great stuff. Its all fresh and local. The Chestnut Hill WW has some great things: a re-filling station for detergent (speaking of sustainability!) and some awesome pre-made food. Try their wood smoked chicken salad! You can't stop eating it. I wish I was better in the kitchen but until I am there is WW's great salads and sandwiches. I also especially like that they label their produce "local", "organic" and "conventional." This is how all stores should do it. The Co-Op is a tremendous asset to this area. In amongst the crowded, cramped, narrow aisles - along with farm-fresh local produce (much in season - less in the winter) are other treats. Honey. Peanut Butter. Store is good looking . Buying old bread is no fun. If they don't get delivery often enough to loaves should be removed from the shelf. Or if should say it's 3 days old and mark it down. I've been meaning to check out this place forever. They have a good selection of organic and natural foods, although the price is a little high. I'm happy to pay a premium for free range eggs, but theirs were over $5, which isn't terrible, but is considerably more than I pay at the local farmers' market. Convenient free parking at the back and 5% discount if you become a co-op member. They do accept credit cards. At the back they had a nice prepared food section that I hope to visit another day. read more

While I couldn't rely on the selection only for my weekly shopping, (some is missing, some is expensive) they do have an interesting variety of some random different things, a pretty full produce department, and a lentil walnut late I can't stop eating! This is really a great little market. They do their best to make a positive impact in the neighborhood and to the planet. The fruits and vegetables are the best around. They have a great selection of both foreign and domestic cheeses. I'm particularly impressed by the variety of artisanal American cheeses. Also, they carry our favorite baguette from Metropolitan Bakery. I have to save that having a market like Weavers Way just down the street really adds to the quality of life in this neighborhood. read more

You must try the smoked chicken salad. Actually, no don't try it; they always run out of the stuff and I'd rather you not take the last container from me! What other grocery store can make you feel good about your purchase? When you're a member, you're a part owner of the place that focuses on local goods and organic foods. The workers here are fantastic and helpful. The store has a nice selection and you really can get most of your groceries in this little store. It can be a much more relaxing venture than going to a big box. Plus, you can get fun stuff like a box of smoked rice crackers or a bag of oatmeal from the loose grains section. You end up spending about half as much by paying for oatmeal by the pound! Plus they recently added a detergent dispenser. I really like that idea because we certainly should be doing anything we can to cut down on our wasteful product packaging! Aside from the yummy chicken salad, there are plenty of other delicious items available like their "health" salad, a delightful kale salad, white bean salad, and marinated mozzarella balls. I love to put together a healthy meal of salads from here on a Sunday afternoon. Note, there is a parking lot in the back of the store, and you are allowed to park there if you're a shopper! The signs are rather unclear, but it's totally cool to do so. read more

This store has a really odd layout and not very informed or friendly workers especially considering it is a coop. Their meat selection does not wow me, with few options for organic, fresh, local farms. Their prepared food case is really not appetizing. I like that they have a produce farm of their own and sell some of their homegrown produce there. But they also have a lot of non-organic produce, which is disappointing. I would never go out of my way to shop here but if you need to duck into a health food store, this is a fine enough option. I think their location at Carpenter is much better, even though that store is far more cramped. read more

I adore the look and feel of this place. It caught my eye immediately as I was strolling by. I'm a lover of grocery stores (odd hobby, I know), especially that of the "natural" and small business variety. I actually liked that it was small, as most natural food stores are. It has a real home feel to it. I didn't stop in on a mission to buy anything, just to see what it was all about. My only qualm with this place is that the prices are significantly higher than other local businesses/markets/farms/natural food stores I stop into. This review is only for the beauty shop portion, Weavers Way Next Door. A few Saturdays ago, I stopped by on a mission. I had run out of PiperWai (the world's best natural deodorant!) and found online that this store carries it. I normally purchase the product through a friend who picks it up in South Philadelphia at a salon near her home. When I walked in I was not greeted and ended up approaching two employees who were chatting after failure to locate it on the shelf. Apparently, this product had become really popular since the last time I purchased it and Weaver's Way actually puts your name on a wait list for when new shipments come in. When asked if I would like to be added to such a list, I casually stated I would attempt to get it at the other location from my friend first. At this point the employee laughed at me and said 'Good luck with that'. As I was leaving, I overheard the workers discussing how naive I was to think I could get this anywhere else. It was, to put it simply, a pretty rude interaction. I can't knock Weavers Way as a whole though, because they carry other awesome stuff and past interactions have been good. Weaver Way are the prime example of how we can help rebuilt our economy. They offer a wide selection of locally grown, or locally produced product. They promote and give opportunities to small vendors that would have a chance of getting their foot in the door with major Supermarket chains. "In order to have a strong Macro-Economy we need a strong Micro-Economy" support the small businesses. The Co-op is all about that. read more
