They don't even stay open for the whole year, and that just shows how much of a loyal following they have to remain successful for so many years with many more to come. I've frequented this establishment since the 1980s, and was always pleased with Tony Diamonds prices, as he always had great low prices, catering to the local community, and the vegetables were always fresh and tasty. After new management began serving the community, I've stopped by every weekend for the past year. Unfortunately, I've had to throw away several bags of produce, as they appear to be fresh on the outside, but are either rotting/molding when you open them up. The quality of the new managements produce is drastically low, they go bad after 2-3 days of purchasing. The new owners are not looking to serve quality produce, they're out for a quick buck. I would not eat the produce as I would not want to end up getting worms or worse from eating rotting food. I recommend going elsewhere.

It's hard to tell from the outside, as the windows are full of plants and the door was always closed. But after checking out Yelp, I decided to go in and see if I was missing something. Turns out, I most definitely was. Sara's has inexpensive produce of decent quality. Sometimes the lettuce or kale is a little limp, so I just skip it that week. I can shave about $10 off my produce bill for the week over shopping for the same items at Wegmans. Sure, the selection is rather limited. But it covers the basics well. And there's some unique produce available that you can't find easily elsewhere (mayme sapote and prickly pear cactus pads, for example). Unfortunately, my experience here was very different from what I'm used to back home. We went to the butcher section to purchase meat, and the interaction my parents had with the staff was extremely disappointing. My parents were asking questions about ground pork, as it was out, and wanted to know if there was a leaner cut that could be ground for them. While I stood back to avoid blocking other customers, I saw the butchers behind the counter repeatedly motioning for my parents to go away, using a shooing hand gesture. What made this especially upsetting was that the butchers appeared to be around the same age as my parents and were also Asian. Regardless of how busy it was or whether they were having a bad day due to the holiday rush, that kind of dismissive and disrespectful behavior toward elderly customers is unacceptable. The experience felt unwelcoming and showed a clear lack of respect. The hand gestures toward senior customers came across as a microaggression and were deeply disappointing. Because of this experience, I won't be returning and will choose a different Asian market when visiting in the future.

This is something new, as was the scanner and giving of a receipt. She should have said something to me instead of just stare with an attitude.
