I promised I'd give this place a review, and now that it has been two weeks since the folks at Professional Auto helped me out AND given that my car's A/C still works, here it is! I visited Professional Automotive partly because it was located close to where I work and partly because Furrin advised that their shop doesn't work on Nissans as frequently as their other location (PAC on Gaines Street). The service writer at PAC was friendly enough, he gave me a reasonable quote over the phone to have my A/C recharged (assuming that was the problem). I dropped it off, walked to work, and after not receiving any phone call as to the status, I gave them a call to inquire how it was all going. The gentleman said all was good and that he was just about to call me to come on by and get it. He was fine with me coming to get it later (at the end of my work day). The total bill was a bit higher than we had discussed on the phone (from $90 to $115) but he explained that my A/C was completely dry and they went through more supplies than anticipated. No problem, I was just happy to have cold air again. Upon entering the vehicle, I turned the A/C up to full blast and waited five minutes...and the entire five minutes I was being blown by HOT air. Ugh. I went back in, the service writer came out, verified that sure enough, whatever was causing the air to turn cold had either leaked out or..well I couldn't say for sure what had happened. He apologized profusely and asked me to bring it back the next day since the tech was already gone for the day. Not exactly a convenient option but I didn't have much choice, especially because I'd already paid them all of the money for the original service. He assured me that they would take care of it for no additional cost. I thought, well that sounds great, but if it means a new compressor, I hope that he stays true to his word! LOL The next day, the gentleman stayed true to his word. They accepted the keys and I trudged back to work (praying that my compressor wasn't busted). As it turned out, no compressor problem; just a leak in one of the hoses. They took care of the leak, recharged the A/C and voila! The Z has cold air to this day. I do think that they operated based off of my word when diagnosing the vehicle and that was ultimately the mistake that caused the loss of supplies and required my return trip the next day. Barring that forgivable oversight, I definitely trust these guys with my orangey and would bring it back for service in the future. read more

So what happened during my recent stay in Tallahassee? Oh, I just had my entire outlook on humanity forever altered. NBD. City life can jade you. And as a lifelong (basically) city girl, it's kind of a given that I'm super cynical and thick-skinned. Don't get me wrong - I don't think city people are rude. They're always perfectly nice to me. At least, my super skewed, subjective version of nice, which is apparently the opposite of actual nice. The truth is, kind, unselfish, considerate people still exist. Not just in the movies. And apparently, Tallahassee is where they've chosen to make their home. So unless it's some sort of Stepford-style scam, I think our state's capital might just be the friendliest place on earth. Take that, Disney assholes. Enough tirading, let's get down to brass tax. In addition to the countless salespeople, waitresses and considerate drivers (SAY WHAAAAAAT?) I encountered in Tally, one interaction really took the cake. That was my afternoon visit to Professional Automotive Center. Rambo's check engine light had been on for months - yes, months. But I failed to do anything about it until the day before I had to drive back to Miami. We called around, and the folks at Furrin Auto said to come on in to their sister spot and they'd take a look. I drove over, and the dude I met behind the counter was just as sweet as pecan pie. He immediately went out and checked out my truck's computer. Then called me to over to gently break it to me that it was, in fact, the tire pressure light. Not the check engine light. D'OH. But did he make me feel like an idiot? Give me a snarky smile or roll his eyes? Talk to me like some stupid chick who shouldn't own a monster truck? No, he said no problem, he'd check the tires for me. He checked the tires. He added air to the tires, including my spare. He checked my fluids. And then, he sent me on my way. Without charging me one flat cent. He wouldn't even accept the few dollars in cash I had that I tried to hand over as a tip. Nada. Nothing. Did I mention that my goddamn dealership back in Miami charges $80 just to check the diagnostics to see why the light is on? But this dude did it out of the "goodness of his heart." Am I using that term properly? Not sure I've ever had cause to apply it before. So yeah, I'm pretty sure that if there's anything wrong with your vehicle, this is probably the most honest place in the entire universe to take it. I might drive all the way to Tallahassee just to get my oil changed from now on. Srsly. read more

One of this things that give me a huge headache is my car. I never want anything to be wrong with it and so I diligently take it in to get the oil changed ever 3000 miles on the mile. But of course your car can't help but have something wrong with it, especially my car which is a 2007 and I take on frequent road trips. This time it was my unfortunate breaks that had to be changed. I knew nothing about brakes and how they worked and trying to get myself informed before I had anyone even touch my car I googled for like 3 days on symptoms and estimates. Somethings seemed reasonable online but these were people who work on cars and could probably end up doing the labor themselves, which made me skeptical on how much it was actually going to cost me. Numbers from $300 to $1000 kept popping up at me. Then I saw this amazing review of this mechanic shop not long ago and figured it was recent enough that I should just go ahead and give them a try. I WILL NEVER BE TAKING MY CAR ANYWHERE ELSE IN THIS TOWN. I was able to not only be listened to and understood about the diagnosis I had given my car but I was dropped off at my job and left feeling confident. The owner assured me that nothing would be done to my car until I was given an estimate later on that day. The estimate was lower than I had anticipated and they were done by noon after I had taken the car in at 8am. Everyone that worked here was extremely professional and I am glad that I was able to find a mechanic that I now feel comfortable with in the city and one that I also know will not be ripping me off when I go in for an issue. read more

I drove my vehicle to this shop because it would not go over 40 mph. I had already did prior research before coming therefore I asked if they could look at the gas pedal and the throttle because they are typical problems for my car. They looked at everything except that and even broke off two parts of my car that they required me to pay for, as well as labor. They denied every saying that they broke the pieces but I did not make a big deal about that. They had no paperwork to show when I arrived both times. Very unprofessional and untrustworthy people. After waiting two more days I received a call about more issues they found that were wrong with the car that actually related to what I brought it in for. Surprise Surprise now they want me to purchase a gas pedal. After $900 my car is now UNDRIVEABLE and in worse condition than before. I got my car towed and took away from this horrible shop! I do NOT recommend this company and will be taking them to court!! WATCH OUT FOR THEM !! read more

Waking up early for work and finding out your car won't start is the worse. Especially after you JUST payed to replace your battery at Auto Zone! Spent my whole day stressing about my car, until I got off work and drove to Professional Automotive Center. Frank is great, he pulled my car into the garage as soon as I got there to look at my starter. Within minutes, he had my car starting up! And he didn't charge me a dime. Such an honest and respectful repair business. And it completely made my week. A real gem in the world of auto repair! I am so glad I was recommended to go here, and I'm telling you now! Go here!!! Get a written estimate ahead of time. We just got some work on my daughter's car, we talked about some figures that would have come out to roughly $300-$400. They presented me a bill for $650. They said a set of ignition coil packs for a rav4 were $381 when you can buy then at an autoparts store for less than $50. They're labor cost is ok. before I authorize the work, they said that their cost was $65 for a set of four, plus a little bit of markup, but I wasn't thinking they're little bit of markup was 586%! I would not have okayed that, so get a price on writing ahead of time and check their pricing before doing business. read more

Literally the worst I went in to get my radiator looked at, online he had 4/5 stars so I thought he would be good (I later looked at the people who rated him and found that three of them actually work at the repair shop) . I signed the papers and about 2 hours later I got a call saying it would be 589.00 (160.00 over what a competitor said it would cost). I told him I did not have that much money so the receptionist said it would then cost me 100.00 since he looked at it for an hour and a half. I asked him why it was so high and he said it's normal for that much. He said its normal at which I looked online and found average was about 30.00 per hour. When I then came in he was mad at me for taking my car 3 blocks down the road. I told him they would save me almost 150.00. By now he was getting angrier and tried to convince me to stay and was trying to say he was only $40.00 more. Which to me sounds like he doesn't think 40 is a lot for a broke college student. He wouldn't give me back my car keys until the third time I tried. I would however like to thank him for finding me a better repair shop down the road and for showing me how sneaky greedy kids can be. I also looked online and found the fans can be fixed for 130.00 less than what he was charging. read more

After having the over-the-phone "estimate" from Pep Boys quadruple when I arrived to actually pick up my car for previous brake work, I will never take my car there again. And I was very skeptical about finding a new place that I could trust. Brought my car into PAC having no idea what could be the issue....it was rattling and pulling violently to one side. Called me within an hour with a diagnosis, the exact costs, and other options that "could" use changing, but were not essential at this time. I appreciated their transparency and answering all my questions, and their quote was much cheaper than what I had previously been quoted. Honest car guys, competitive pricing, and very nice and personable. I will definitely take my car here again in the future. read more

The gentlemen working at PAC exemplify what it means to be good Samaritans. As I was driving home today, the wheel of my car literally snapped off, causing me to break down in the middle of traffic. I thank my lucky stars that I just so happened to find myself directly in front of this business. I didn't have my cell so I ran inside and asked them to please call me a tow truck. I barely had enough money to pay rent, so I knew that I would be in a bind. As I'm waiting outside, two men came into the road, jacked my car up, and pushed it into a parking spot. They checked to see if they had any spare rims in the shop, and when they couldn't find one, they removed the broken pieces of the rim and put my spare tire onto the car. The spare was from my old Buick and I didn't think it would fit, and not being mechanically inclined, I didn't even know how to put it on. I was pretty much freaking out at this point, and without a charge of any kind, they got me back onto the road. I had tears in my eyes as I was driving back home. I was CERTAIN that my car was damaged from resting on the broken tire, and that I would be spending my rent money getting my car back on the road. These guys immediately stopped what they were doing without a second thought, and helped me get back on the road. I honestly thank you guys from the bottom of my heart. God bless you. Awesome service and professional staff! I have had great experience with Furrin Auto Services on Tennessee Street as well. I brought my car in for electrical work and the staff at Professional Auto Center provided quick and excellent service at a reasonable price. I have an 04 Saab that started acting up on the way to work. Couldn't find any shop that serviced Saabs, except Furrin/Pac auto (this company). Had my car towed in because something was DEFINITELY WRONG WITH THE CAR. As in I knew that any further driving without addressing the problem would ultimately be damaging to the car. Hence the tow in. Signed contract authorizing 150 dollar charge when I dropped the car off. Straight up asked the dude behind the counter "how much am I going to have to pay?". He responds that "if it is something small like a loose wire/clamp/hose, it will only be 150 dollars. If it is something more serious we will call you in to discuss it before we do any work". Fast forward an entire week, finally received a call. Was very shady on the phone. Flat out refused to tell me the total cost over the phone, responding with something like "I can't/am not comfortable saying the total over the phone". When i asked for the total I could hear him running through things to charge me for, like "well we have some parts invested in it, lots of man hours" etc. etc. and even mentioned the tow, like he meant to charge me for the tow in (I have AAA and covered the cost of towing myself). I go to pickup the car and see that I have been charged over 200 dollars. Closer to 250 than the 150 that was both on the contract and that the salesperson verbally told me I would be responsible for. Turns out that they could not figure out what was wrong with the car. Instead of diagnosing/fixing the problem, they decide they will try to "drive the problem out of the car". They drove my car, which was having serious mechanical issues, over 100 miles over the course of a week. I took my car in with 79k miles, and when i picked it up it had 80120 miles on. Did not get an exact reading before I dropped it off because I was not expecting to get taken advantage of. I did reset the trip meter though, so that I could see how many miles it had been driven. They were kind enough to reset the trip meter to 0 just before I picked it up. Not sure if this is common practice among mechanics, but felt extremely shady to me. Also, on the work order, the miles in and miles out were conveniently both set to 80120 miles, implying that I dropped it off and picked it up with the same amount of miles on it (Which I know for a fact is false). The work order contained charges for both parts ($34.92) and supplies (18.00). I asked them what parts and supplies they put into my car, since they were unable to diagnose nor fix the problem. They respond that they have put 4 gallons of fuel into the car. I'm no math wizard, but 4 gallons of premium gasoline does not cost more than $16. Yet I was charged nearly 100 dollars on top of the 150 that I agreed to when I signed the contract (and the salesperson verbally confirmed that I would only be charged 150 dollars). I voice my concerns to the 2 gentleman behind the desk, and they respond that "we make money off of parts". I asked to see a receipt for the gas and they told me that it was "already sent to the office". They told me "we do not have to show you a receipt". I was a little bit agitated, but since I'm not rich and rely on my car for transportation to and from work, I paid the bill and left. Went straight to a gas station upon leaving the shop to see if the car would take any more gas. The car took over 3 and a half gallons of gas. I am not even sure that they put any gas into my car at all. Also, if they are charging me for gas, I would expect that the gas I am paying for is in the car when I pick it up. It was not. Why could the $16 at most that they paid for 4 gallons of gas not have come out of the 150 dollar total? Also, why was I charged nearly 100 dollars extra on top of the 150 that was both in the contract and that the salesperson told me I would be responsible for? Why would they not call me to authorize putting gasoline into the car? And why would they not provide proof in the form of a receipt when I requested it two times? Upon leaving the shop, I notice that my car is now making additional noises that it had never previously made. I am 100% convinced with absolute certainty that this car left the shop in worse condition than when I had it towed in. I voiced my concerns to the two gentleman at the shop, and they offer ONE free hour of service within 30 days if it acts up again. No thank you, I wouldn't take my car back here if you paid me. Essentially i paid for nothing: I could have driven the car myself (which is idiotic, because why would you drive a car that is having mechanical problems?). If I have my car towed, ITS PROBABLY BECAUSE I DONT WANT IT DRIVEN UNTIL IT IS FIXED. Now I have to take my car to REPUTABLE shop to get fixed. This place is a great shop if you like throwing money away and getting taken advantage of. Showed receipt to several other shops in town and was told "yes they took advantage of you". read more

If I could give a negative star rating I would!!!!!! I was told about this shop by a friend mine. I was having some issues with my car and since my dad, uncle and brother are all mechanics I already pretty much knew what was wrong after talking to them. It's not an easy place to get into but that wasn't a huge deal. Plenty of parking so Irthought that was a good sign that it would be fast. Of course after meeting the manager I get why the parking lot was so empty. So I go in and Frank introduces himself and it all stats out pretty pleasant. That is until I notice that there must be something wrong with his neck since it's bent at a weird enough angle that he us forced to look at an area below my shoulders. For those of you that are a bit slower..he was staring at my boobs instead of looking me in the eyes. I tell what is going on with my car and what my dad thinks it probably us so I ask for a quote for that repair and get the "can't really quote you until I know what's wrong". I told him I get that but if it was the what my dad said...the cost would be what? Again he wanted to argue with my boobs since I think he had only made eye contact for the first 2 seconds I was in the shop. So he tells me a million dollars and starts to laugh. At this point I'm ready to leave but he says I could sit and talk to him while his tech checks my car. Now my creep alert isgoing off. I tell him I have to get to class and he gives me his card and says something to the affect that he would love for me to come back and see him. I was getting some serious creep vibes. Here is this old man hitting on an 18 year old. I don't know what kind of work they do but....Frank needs to be fired!! After talking to several other girls I found out that I'm not the only one he has done this to. I will NEVER EVER go back in there. How you let someone Poole they be your manager is ridiculous. my dad would have fired him a long time ago.I'm going to make sure any girl I know go in there. doesn't read more
