After being recommended a visit by my primary dentist, I was quite nervous to re-treat a falling root canal, as the first one wasn't the best experience from a pain perspective. Consultation was smooth and easy, as the doctors took 3D X-rays of my mouth to get to the bottom of the issue. Not only did the first root canal performed stop a few inches too short, but I had acquired an infection as well. Great. Doctor Andrew assured me that the process was one that they specialize in, so I had nothing to be worried about. And I didn't. Upon the day of surgery, my usual anxious and nervous self was calm and ready to treat a tooth that had been causing some issues for years. The procedure itself was quite quick and painless. Shocking! Doc even obliged me in talking through what he was doing and why. I had a great time in the chair! What they do not prepare you for.. is the pain during the aftermath of the treatment. I think many people like myself are afraid of what happens while in the chair, but for the first time in my life, the pain outside of the re-treating process was and has been some of the most excruciating pain I have ever experienced. I think what really sent me into a bit of a frenzy, is that this amazing, sweet, kind and caring facility with some of the most awesome staff members I have encountered.. sent me home with no prescribed medication! After an infection and extended roots!?! The procedure was on a Thursday.. by Friday night, my face was immensely swollen and the pain was so unbearable that all I could do was cry and pray. I was told over the counter Motrin would suffice... and it did.. but only for three hours. As I lay here two days removed from the procedure, and the pressure of my face increases.. I'm still shocked that I was expected to handle something like this without any additional medication before sending me home. These guys are the real deal. So, this was my second root canal - the first was years ago when I was in college and was a horrible experience. Flat out, I was seriously stressed about another one. My dentist referred me to Professional Endodontics, and I got hooked up with Dr. Steve Shoha, and I went yesterday for the procedure. Let's cut to the chase - mind you this was a root canal - but my experience with this office exceeded all expectations. The front desk staff before and after my appointment were awesome. They were super friendly, pleasant, calm, engaging, and they were just generally decent people. They gave me all the info I needed and told me my cost (with insurance) so there were no surprises. Seriously - just good people. They genuinely seemed happy to be there, and it shows. My appointment was at 1:45pm, and I was back in the room by like 1:50 - thanks for being prompt! And, they didn't just park me there - I was actually talking with the medical assistant/tech (sorry for not catching your name) who was super cool and put me at ease. Got me all hooked up and ready to go. The room was clean, bright, and very modern. Dr. Steve Shoha was awesome - and I can't overstate that. He came in, took a look, discussed what the deal was, and we were off - he is calm, cool, and collected. BY 2:15, I was totally numb (got my #18 molar done) - not gonna lie, those anesthetic shots suck, but totally made the procedure painless . Dr.Shoha started and told me the whole time, if I felt any pain at all, let him know. When I did feel some pain, he stopped immediately and hooked me up with more anesthetic, and we continued on. He talked to me throughout the entire process and let me know where he was and what he was doing. Equally cool was that he and the assistant were totally in a goove. You can tell they've done many of these - it was just a relaxed atmosphere - I truly appreciated that. I also appreciated that the procedure didn't take long. The office is like 15 minutes from my house, and I was home by 3:05. Look, this was a root canal, not a massage, and I really did not want to have it done and was super stressed about it. But this team made this ordeal as pleasant as it could be. I can't imagine it going any better. Finally, the gave me a bunch of numbers to call if i had any issues afterward. (including Dr. Shoha's cell). Then, they followed up today to see how I was doing. BTW, my toothache is gone - what a relief! Thanks everyone at Professional Endodontics. I was terrified to have another root canal as I had one 15 years ago that was horrible! I had terrible pain after and the doctor had a terrible attitude. So when my dentist sent me to get one one , I seriously considered just pulling it . But I was so pleasantly surprised!! Dr. Andy Schoelch had such a calming manner and did it so quick I was shocked! I have tmj issues so usually have pain after any procedure .He worked in the area gently and I had no pain at all and went to a dog agility show the next day and ran my dog all day! Looking at the reviews here I was very skeptical, but with the pandemic situation, I really had no choice as this was who my dentist referred me to. Honestly if this wasn't a good experience I was firing my dentist lol. I had a root canal done by a general dentist in California a year and a half ago. The tooth has always been slightly painful ever since. Well last Monday I woke up at 3:45 am with incredible pain in that same tooth. So I went in. Their safety measures with the current situation is top notch. They gave me an x-ray and the Dentist said that it was a failed root canal. With the reviews here in my mind I was even more skeptical and under other circumstances would've probably got a 2nd opinion. The root canal was so quick, I really couldn't believe it. Whatever they numbed me with acted fast and didn't send my heart rate through the roof, which I also liked. Most numbing stuff that dentists use elevate my heart rate alot. I'm sensitive to stimulants so this was a huge plus for me. I was a little concerned because by Friday, the pain really wasn't much better. But here it is Tuesday and my tooth feels almost 100%. Theres a little pain but I imagine that will go away as well. Great job doc! read more

Similar experience to others.. Had a root canal done over a year ago and the pain never subsided. Have been back 3 times since and each time they cannot find anything wrong with the tooth. I can't chew on it, and I carry ibuprofen to numb the pain when it flares up. They of course billed me in full for the root canal that never worked. To the doctor's credit they did try to find the issue with the tooth each time and seemed to genuinely care, however the front desk couldn't care less about my issues or fact that I basically paid for nothing. Front desk does the bare minimum to get you off the phone and get your money paid. I'm moving on to an oral surgeon now to have the tooth removed. Calling the front desk to get my x-rays sent over was the last straw. They refuse to send them to me unless I come in person and sign a form, which is probably a legal thing so I get it, however they could offer to contact the oral surgeon to get the x-rays directly to them but they did not. I would think after wasting $1000s and still having pain it would be the least they could do but patient satisfaction obviously is not in their business model. Bottom line there are better places to go, that actually act like they care if you get better. read more

Very nice and caring Dentist. She really was concerned about my problem. She did a root canal and months later it was still bothering me. She looked at it for no charge and even did a CT scan on the tooth for free! Very nice of her. It turned out that it just needed the bite adjusted. read more

Dr. Bentur at Professional Endodontics in St. Clair Shores is the most compassionate Doctor that I have ever visited. I know how bizarre that sounds, considering I went to her for 2 (yes TWO) infected root canals within a very brief period of time, but she took the time to answer my questions, make me comfortable, and offer as many breaks as I needed during the procedures. After a recent visit to my dentist on a Friday, she was able to see me that same day as a new patient and treat my pain so I didn't have to suffer through the weekend! I would recommend Dr. Bentur to anyone I know who has the unfortunate need to see an endodontist. She and her friendly office staff (always covered with smiles ) are simply THE best!! read more

This was the worst place I have ever been to. I was in a lot of pain so I decided to come here to this office to see what they could do for me I explained to the dentist what was going on, he did X-rays and an exam and then told me he could not find a problem with the tooth the​ nothing showed on the x-rays he basically sent me on my way. I went up to the counter and they charged me $120 just to send me back out in pain. I realize this is a business and they had to charge something but $120... Again the worst place ever!!!!! I typically avoid posting negative content, but in this instance it's necessary. I feel a responsibility to share my experience in the hopes that potential future patients can avoid the incompetence and dishonesty I encountered (and I see that based on the other reviews I'm not the only one who has experienced problems with this office.) Like one of the previous posts, I was a new patient referred by my dentist. I came in to have a botched root canal done by my previous dentist redone. I paid half of the balance for the procedure the day it was done, and in hindsight I should have waited to ensure that it was successful. After this second root canal that was performed by this office failed, and after coming back into the office 4+ times for checkups that lead to no solution, the doctor who performed the procedure told me that I would not have to pay the remainder of the balance for the root canal since it did not work. (The tooth is still so painful that I cannot chew on it, and will ultimately have to be removed.) I then started receiving weekly bills for the balance that I was told in the office by the doctor that I wouldn't have to pay, and upon calling both locations multiple times to try to speak with the doctor or to at least get some kind of explanation, I was finally told one of the receptionists would follow up Monday 4/25/16 after talking to the doctor. Saturday 4/30/16 I got a notice that my bill had been transferred to collections. After calling the office again and talking to the same receptionist, the lack of communication, record-keeping and customer service became apparent after she listed off appointments I never had scheduled, a payment plan I never made, and refused to acknowledge the complete disregard for follow up and for sending the bill to collections, which I now have to assume is ultimately going to affect my credit (this is the first I've ever had anything go to collections.) She was absolutely unwilling to admit any wrongdoing, or work with me to come up with a solution, and had no answer when I asked her how they would help after putting me in this situation. It was clear the staff was unconcerned about losing a potential future customer, and had nothing but attitude to offer after my final attempt to rectify the situation. Please reconsider before becoming a patient, and avoid the unnecessary hassle and cost their previous customers have had. read more

I showed up for an appointment first thing on a Monday morning. I sat in the chair in our room for 45 minutes because the doctor had not arrived yet. Shouldn't the doctor arrive an hour before patients arrive? In case there is traffic, they have buffer time. This is bad business. read more

I would NEVER recommend them. This is my letter to them, the Michigan Dental Association and my insurance. Professional Endodontics. I was a new patient referred to you by my dentist. I came to your office for a root canal. After the dentist saw me she gave me 3 different things she was going to do to me. She then numbed me up only to decide that she then needed to consult her senior dentist then next day. I was numb till 8pm that evening for a procedure that was not done, due to incompetence. I was told the office would call me the next day, they did not. I called the following day and they said they forgot but the dentists did confer. After all of that I chose to not return to your practice and let my dentist know of the poor treatment and blatant incompetence throughout the office. I missed a day of work for this appointment, I have never been to a specialist and been numbed up for a treatment that they were so unsure of themselves they could not make a decision. You have requested I pay $59.00 and I am telling you that I am not paying due to the incompetence and lack of service provided. I will also be contacting my insurance sending them this letter and the bills along as well as the Dental association of Michigan, since you have now sent me to collections on a bill for services that were never completed due to your incompetence. read more
