I'm not sure what all these 5 star reviews are, but if I could, I would give a 0 star rating. First of all, Jose was supposed to meet my husband last week for a quote, and never showed up and did not even bother to call to let him know he would not be coming. We still went with Jose, since we are new to the neighborhood and our neighbors had used him in the past. We wanted to trim our trees the same time to have a better assessment for solar panels. We were scheduled to trim the trees yesterday - I called Jose in the morning to see what time he was coming and he said they could not come due to the rain (I was the one who called, not him). They showed up an hour late today. They ended up not trimming my neighbor's oak trees, because "everyone in La Canada knows that you can only trim oak trees in June" (Jose's words). We are new residents of La Canada. Jose never relayed this to my husband when they spoke and planned the trimming earlier in the week. Why would he schedule the trimming of the neighbors' oaks if he knew it was not allowed? Overall a poor experience and very unprofessional. read more

Jose, Rush and the entire crew were fantastic. The price was great, the service was fantastic. Our trees look much better than we even imagined. We had 9 trees on our lot and have had 4 removed because they were not were we needed them or in bad shape (we bought a foreclosed house and the trees weren't watered for over 2 years). The 5 left are now looking good and giving us plenty of shade. Plus, the clean up of the yard was great. They raked my front yard and it actually looks better than when they started trimming ! Professional Tree Service is the best!!! Jose came to my house the day after I called and gave me an estimate so reasonable I accepted immediately. He and his crew arrived at my house on the appointed day exactly on time. His efficient crew cut down a huge tree that my neighbor had been complaining about. They topped and trimmed four other trees, and cut one down and treated it to not grow again. And, as I asked Jose, he left the wood chips for my garden! I am very pleased to be one of the many people reviewing this company. Jose came and gave me an estimate to trim a large tree hanging into my property as well as cut back the shrubs belonging to the neighbor, that were in the process of also taking over my back yard. He said he would do the job between 2-3pm on Monday 5-4-15 and he was there at 2pm on the dot, with his 3 man crew. They worked for close to 4 hrs. non stop, pruning, trimming and cleaning up. They left my yard in perfect condition and even trimmed an extra branch that was on the verge of falling onto the house next door. One of his crew took the time to replace my decorative lighting in exactly the same spots they had been in, without my having to ask. Today the Professional Tree Service crew came to trim our Queen palm trees. They came within 15 minutes of my call to give an estimate. They were punctual for the appointment and had the job done, start to finish, in less than 45 minutes. They made it look so easy. They left our yard cleaner than it was when they arrived! We hired Jose Martinez and Professional Tree Service back in 2008 to prune two very tall Day Palms. The trees are at least 35 feet tall and 65 years old.. Our neighbor is very concerned about her landscaping and Jose did an excellent job working with her needs as well as ours. The crew did an incredible job on the palms and cleaned everything up. The pruning job has lasted 5 years and we are hiring them again. Mr. Martinez knows how to talk to people who are very particular about their property. The quote he gave us was in the middle of the quotes we got last time and we went with him because of his professionalism. This is the first review I've ever written about anything, but I feel compelled to praise their excellent service. They took down a huge unhealthy 60-year-old tree, but first they carefully removed the bricks on the surrounding patio to prevent damage. They ground the trunk and then leveled the area. In addition, they trimmed another tree away from the electrical wires, trimmed a third tree and a fourth, and trimmed branches on a fifth that were overhanging a chimney. In addition, the crew hauled away an old infested woodpile. The crew of 5 worked extremely hard, and as my home office overlooked the tree, I held my breath at times as they balanced high up in the branches with a chain saw. They are tireless and brave. First of all, this review is arriving on Yelp late because I thought I'd saved the one I originally wrote and posted (but it got lost). I didn't want more time to go by before I raved about the expert service I received from Professional Tree Services. Everything on my tree trimming wish list was accomplished in record time and without hassle. Rush and his crew arrived exactly when they said they would and even finished the job about a half hour faster than the estimate. That included cleaning up a big mess from all the trimmings. I think I need to mention that their prices were VERY fair! My previous tree guy seemed to put his safety last and I was concerned about having his crew do another job on my property. Rush and his crew were organized and careful with everything they did. Rush even explained the nature of some of the trees on my property, so I learned a little something, too. Ok, just wow! Amazing experience with Professional Tree Service and Jose and his team. OMG! I was about to list my property for sale when I learned I had bark beetle in 1 of my pines, which was heartbreaking and stressful. Jose came right away to give an estimate and committed to removing the tree the day after the 4th weekend. His estimate was fair and reasonable, which I cannot say was my opinion of Flintridge Tree Service, who gave an unconscionably high estimate (3x the two other estimates I got), making it hard for me to conclude anything but that they were trying to exploit my situation. Jose and his team then showed up precisely when scheduled, and in one day, had cut down the tree that was beyond saving, and trimmed another in which we discovered the beginnings of a problem. He also inspected all of the trees, which thankfully were still healthy and assured me they could be saved with proper watering. It's also worth noting that I had just landscaped the property and was worried about plants underneath the tree. He managed miraculously not to injure any plants or damage the property in any way. And, if that were not enough, he and his team cleaned up my property and my neighbor's so as to barely leave a trace, all of this before an open house the next day! My father used to say that an honest man is never without work. Which is probably why Jose has been in business so many years and is so highly respected, as other yelp reviews show. truly no other company worth hiring. I was going to rent a chipper and a 60 foot skylift and do the work myself. I was convinced otherwise from my friend who recommended Jose and the all star team he employs. They arrived at 8 oclock sharp and worked non stop until 730 litterally eating lunch in shifts while sharpening blades, or fueling other saw multitasking even their lunchtime. They professionally removed 3 60 foot tall eucalyptus trees, within 3" of the ground (later to be stump ground away) removed all branches and logs in one day. Not one trunk or branch or log hit the house, or fence these massive trees where in between. honestly from a do it myself kind of guy i could not have been more impressed with the amount of work accomplished and the immaculate condition they left my property in even though i told them don't bother sweeping, go home, rest. needless to say when i need the other 3 trees removed since they're not dying yet, i will call professional tree services and have Jose and his team return. I also did not bother getting a second price opinion because i know what fees and cost and running time would add up to and they had an absolutely unbeatable price.
