They come out for an estimate, and follow-up as needed to do a more in-depth visit to really gain an understanding of what you want. My husband and I just can't say enough great things about Les and his hardworking crew! They truly gave us the landscaping of our dreams--in such a short time! From completely understanding what we wanted--we're pretty low maintanance, just wanted something clean and uncomplicated since we both have terrible allergies. Also, giving us a fair quote and saving us $ from having to hire designers (we had previously been stiffed of $1K years before by a previous designer who refused to listen to our wishes at all). Also, previous landscaping quotes were twice to three times as much JUST FOR OUR BACKYARD as Les charged--for doing our entire home! AAL ended up doing it all for us: Side walkways, side gates, back and front yards--including a front fence! The stellar crew came every day promptly at 7:30 am, worked swiftly and cleanly, leaving promptly at 3 pm. They even helped our elderly neighbor who needed a tree removed! This was no small job either. All and all, the entire project took three weeks, including trucking in heavy machinery and materials, removal of a ton of weeds, trees, etc. up and down our hilltop cul de sac. Incredible. At a time when nightmare scenarios seem to be the norm Nextdoor posts nowadays, we are beyond grateful to have had such a stellar, honest, WONDERFUL landscape company come and make our home a place we can finally enjoy. Wow I'm so glad I chose this company. Henry came by to give me a quote for my backyard and Told me the price of all the different things I was considering. We wanted hedges but had to wait a couple months to save up. Once we did, I reached back out and he was able to come install them the next day! He then came by a day later to bring a free bag of mulch/wood chips which I loved and decided to buy more to fill in the space. The whole project cost just over 2k but it's definitely worth it. Tried to contact through Yelp, they asked for more info, within hours I responded... it's been 6 days and they have not responded back. Our front yard project included the removal of a pond, replacement of the existing lawn with artificial turf, filling the pond with dirt, creating new planting areas, and planting drought tolerant plants. Les and his crew did such a terrific job and went beyond our expectation. Highly recommended! First, I was impressed by Les' sincere attitude. Before any agreement was signed, he didn't mind searching and ordering new turf samples to give me more options. Second, he was very patient when listening to my ideas and was honest with his opinions. Third, his crew was very professional and able to complete the project within 2 weeks. During the process, we decided to remove a pine tree. Les adjusted the plan and got it done within the same day. Since we had lots of rocks around the tree, his crew cut the stump low and covered it with rocks and planted around it. A clever solution indeed! We expect to see plants grow tall and cover the rocks. Everything blends in nicely. In addition, the pine tree's roots were so strong that they cracked our driveway and raised some bricks next to it. Les' team dug up the long root, leveled the dirt, and installed new bricks without charging us extra. Lastly, when Les finalized the invoice, he made all the adjustments correctly, including the reduction of plants purchased. We paid for what we actually needed only. I could not be happier with the job that Leswin and his team did on our front yard. My husband and I removed the grass and put a dry river bed on our parkway. We were going to attempt the same with our lawn but quickly discovered the job was much larger than we could handle. We looked around and met with many landscaping companies and received a handful of quotes. After all that searching we decided to go with AAL because of their reasonable quote and their good ideas. We were looking to rip out all the concrete around our pool and replace it with sod/grass. Les and Henry were the only company that explained the options for different species of grasses, that would be more drought tolerant and stronger against weeds, etc... They also gave us the great idea of covering our ugly concrete retaining wall with redwood. Once they started the work, it went very fast and they did a great job. The whole crew was very friendly, they had a very hard job of breaking up a lot of concrete in the hot sun, but they did a great job and very quickly! The grass and wood covering the cinderblock walls has transformed our yard! They also fixed our entire irrigation with very good quality irrigating hoses, not those flimsy thin black hoses that always fall apart. We are so pleased with their work and now had started a new project with them to build a custom tree house on our retaining wall area. We set an appointment for a bid on replacing the grass on our entire yard because of all the great reviews. We arranged our schedule around the appointment and he never showed up. When I called to see where he was 35 mins later, he said he didn't know he had an appointment but then checked his schedule and saw that we were on it. He then said he didn't come because no one reminded him! No apology, just 'I get a lot of phone calls a day and unless someone reminds me, I don't remember'. I came across Les and All American Landscape, sent an email right away to set up a meeting/quote to get my sprinklers repaired. Les worked with my schedule and met with me on a Saturday. He spent about 40 mins looking at our system and listening to our concerns/wants etc. Per other reviews, I liked that Les was up front about cost. There is a sticker shock but after the work was complete the price was lower. He over estimates which is always nice and guarantees his work. Les and his team showed up Friday, worked non-stop for 5 hours and got everything fixed. At the end of the day I had brand new sprinklers, a new drip system in the back yard, and a brand new timing system. I found Les on Yelp when we had a sprinkler that wouldn't shut off. Despite the fact that he was busy on another job, he responded to the urgency and made time to come by and look at the situation, which was much appreciated. He very quickly got to the root of the problem (a malfunctioning valve) and was able to fix it from the supplies he had with him. He also replaced an old timer-box and had thoughtfully stopped en route to get the necessary supplies. Throughout, he was patient and clear explaining the issues involved and in recommending cost-effective solutions. All American Landscape just finished expanding our driveway, replacing our main water line, replacing old corroded irrigation systems with smart systems (that consult the weather report, make automatic adjustments and send text bulletins to my computer--who knew?!). They replaced both lawns, front and back, expanded and did new brickwork around our front rose garden, installed numerous new perrenial plants in plant beds and mulched them. There were two instances of miscommunication, which I took up with Les who resoved them quickly with respect and care. It was a two week job and they came in a day and a half ahead of schedule, having done a fastidious job of everything. We've never seen people work so hard or more skillfully. My husband put himself through college doing this kind of work and was impressed from beginning to end. And Leswin's crew has been together for years; they're pros, and every day they cleaned up meticulously so the job didn't inconvenience us any more than absolutely necessary. They use top grade materials and pride themselves on their excellence. We've had All American Landscape out for a few jobs over the last year. The two stars are for the actual work they provide, which is good. The other three stars are knocked off because of the lack of communication. The first time we hired them they were 3 hours late and when I called Les he "forgot his phone". When we wanted them to come out to check something they had replaced a month before, trying to get a hold of Les was like pulling teeth. Responses a week later because he was out of town, no proactive scheduling, etc. I totally understand that people take vacations or have days off, however, in a service industry, it's usually a good idea to be a little more responsive to ensure repeat business and referrals. We have a few large jobs that I think we'll be hiring out to someone else, as we really need people who seem to want the work. read more
