I was involved in a car accident three months ago with someone who hit me from behind. I immediately report a claim and long story short, progressive did not try to call the other party insurance until 2-3 weeks after the incident. My assigned agent kept saying that they are not picking up the phone so there's nothing he can do. I called the supervisor and managers and non of them got back to me until a month later. Everyone that I have spoken to seems really lazy about their job and kept passing me to someone else. So basically I just paid monthly for years and when I really needed them, they do not advocate for their clients and abandon me with the damages to my car that I have to deal with on my own even though it wasn't my fault. We had a very minor incident a couple of months ago with my stepson driving his mom's car to the store (1 mile) and due to the snowy/Icey conditions slid into someones chain link fence and pushed down one of the post with no damage to the car. The homeowner filed a claim to fix the post and we did not file a claim due to no damage to the car. We live in a neighborhood where you can not park on the street at night so all 3 cars were in the driveway. Instead of moving 2 cars his mom gave him permission to take her car. I received a call from Progressive today 3/1/26 at 4:00 and Kala stated since we did not add my stepson to the policy because he lives in the home the decision was made by her/progressive to cancel the policy on 3/1/26 at 4:00 in the afternoon. I told Kala when we signed up for Progressive no one asked whom was living in the home, so it's not our fault he was not on the policy.She stated there was nothing further to discuss and hung up the phone!! On Oct 16 2024 A deer hit my fathers car when he was on the way to an appointment from Iron River to Iron Mountain. There is a police report, the autobody shop took pics and provided an estimate. At first Progressive was going to settle it quickly with 3847.19 total of vehicle retention pay out. Then Progressive pulled back the offer and stating my father never had the bumper previously replaced from an accident in 2022. I had provided the signed paid off bumper invoice plus gave them the auto body place i used after finding issues with the first autobody place and the autobody people said the same thing - the previous bumper damage was resolved with a full bumper replacement by the 1st autobody place (which no longer exists). Now, My father is 86 years old was recently called by a different Progressive Representative who verbally abused him over the phone - in sum, accusing my Father of Fraud over the bumper that was repaired after a previous accident in 2022 where we provided proof and witnesses of said repair to the claim agent. And that claim is with Progressive so they have all that information. I got called by my dad and I had to rush 6.5 hours from work to calm my father down who i thought was about to have a heart attack. This company needs to look at the age of the client when determining how to talk to them. According to my father she was verbally abusive trying to strong arm him into answering questions without a family member present. This is elder abuse business practice over a $1400 dollar bumper that was proven to have been previously repaired. I have talked with several auto repair places recently and all have said Progressive and Liberty Mutual are the worst to work with. One also said he will not take clients who use them for insurance and one other said he is considering not accepting them either. This is a 2010 Lexus hs 250h which he and my mother bought a long time ago. A previous accident in 2022 Progressive totaled it because the repairs were higher than what Progressive considered the car was worth. We kept the car so the pay out from Progressive was less than if they took the car and sold it at auction. Me and my siblings paid the difference on repairs and had the car fixed (including the bumper) and kept it insured with Progressive. Nothing wrong with the car mechanically once we were done. And you couldn't tell there was damage. The other interesting thing is they have no problem totaling a car and telling you they will only pay you half the amount if you keep the car versus letting Progressive take over the car to sell the car at a salvage auction - where we would receive twice as much - which is a lot more than the repair cost (scratch your head on that - smells like a form of consumer fraud. The reason we are keeping the car is it runs great. It just has cosmetic deer damage we want to take care of where me and my siblings will pay the difference the insurance will not pay. It is a heck of a lot cheaper than buying a different used car for an 86 year old (lets see 1000 or so out of pocket versus 20k for a descent 2016 Camry ) . In sum, check with some autobody and mechanics to find out which insurance companies really have your back. State Farm apparently is one of them. Progressive.com Agents have repeatedly padded my policy with extra coverages without my consent every time I renew or need to make changes. Every time I have to call multiple times and speak with several supervisors in order to correct my policy the way I choose. Last 10 times has been horrible and at no time do they take accountability or apologize for their mistakes. I'm tired of it. A formal complaint letter has been mailed to their CEO informing of my bad experience and the deceptive practices the majority of workers at Progressive practice. I'm 44 and this is the Worst customer service I've had to deal with. CEO on record that they are all about trust and Flo Commercials. Ha! Do not believe the hype. You can trust that you will be deceived and treated poorly every time you need to make changes to your policy. read more

Many thanks to my Insurance Agent, Karen Decker, who kept close contact with me after my accident, with all the necessary details (first making sure I wasn't hurt), making my appointment with Taynia (in Sterling Heights), who explained the paper work clearly (and patiently) in a very friendly manner, to finalize the steps to close out totaling my car and signing the necessary papers, I can only say that my experience with Progressive and their agents went seamless and very smoothly with no delays, lack of contact or anything else. Everything was done within a week of the accident in a very timely manner. I was treated with respect and friendliness. In spite of my accident, this experience with Progressive was a very positive one. Thank you Progressive. read more

!!!!!! WARNING !!!!! Do not buy Progressive Insurance policies if you have state Medicaid insurance or are on Medicare!!!!! They will sell you a policy at a lower rate, and then send you a bill for a 20% rate increase once they find out you are on Medicaid or Medicare. They then tell you your only options are to pay the 20% poor tax or cancel the policy and receive a refund for the time left of the policy you haven't used. What they don't tell you is that the fees associated with their policy are nonrefundable so you don't get back all of your money even though you have done nothing wrong and simply want to choose a carrier that either collects the correct information before collecting payment for a policy or doesn't penalize you for being poor. Truly a bait and switch sales policy preying on poor people. They make sure to ask you if you HAVE health insurance before you give them your money, but they don't ask you what KIND of health insurance until after you signed the policy and have already paid them. That's when they say oh no your insurance is for poor people so you have to pay 20% more. It is shameful to prey upon a segment of the population that is already struggling simply because they don't have the resources to fight back. Now I'm going to have a great time walking to work on a week of record cold temperatures because I trusted Progressive. (Yeah the money for my cancelled policy isn't coming back to me for 5-10 days, which means I won't have the money for a new policy for 5-10 days, so that will be fun walking in the cold). Whish I could select zero stars. Progressive insurance are extortionist, they have the worst payment tracking system ever. They will send you past due bills on payments you already made. Then when you dispute the bill, they file collection agency documents on you, messing up your credit. I will never use progressive insurance again, and if you were smart you wouldn't either. I've had Progressive Insurance since 2015. Someone backed into the front of my Jeep and I needed to get it fixed. I was told to drop it off at the service center at 6:00 pm on 1/17/18, which I did. I was told by the rep that I would have an estimate NO LATER THAN Friday, 1/19/18 (if not, for sure, Monday, 1/22/18 at the VERY latest). On 1/23, I finally got a call at 4:30 pm that my estimate still had not been started. On 1/24, I called and spoke with the manager; they had been sitting on my vehicle, which I make payments on and pay insurance on, for a week and had done NOTHING, NOT EVEN TAKEN IT TO GET THE DAMN ESTIMATE! Finally, on 1/25, the estimate was completed at 2:45 pm at a GM dealer "because due to the inclement weather we've had all of the Jeep dealers are all backed up." Progressive didn't even take my vehicle to get the estimate until 1/25! It sat at the Progressive Center for 8 damn days! I got a call on Thursday, 1/26, that my Jeep would be back to Progressive by the end of the day Monday (1/29) and they would call to set up an appointment time for Tuesday. Surprise! Monday rolled around and they didn't call! We had to call them to be told my vehicle wasn't back and would hopefully be back first thing in the morning (1/30). Never heard from them this morning... at 11:45, my husband called them and FINALLY was able to pick it up this afternoon after 2 whole weeks. All that was done was replacing the front bumper cover, replacing the front driver's side quarter panel, replace the headlight assembly (which wasn't broken to begin with) and blend the paint on the door. Beyond all this frustration, I dropped it off with 1/4 tank of gas and they left me on empty!! This is the WORST customer service I have ever experienced! I will for sure be looking for a new insurance company! read more

Crooked Company. Would not recommend this Company. The way they value cars after a wreck should be illegal & probably is. That's why they have so many lawsuits! Their answer is they entered info into their program. Their own program gave result that car was typical vehicle condition to similar cars with the same year, make & model. And that wear & tear/damage was consistent with its age....Then they subtract/adjust $1500 off their valuation because of this! read more
