Communication is deficient. Each time a different doctor will see you. And other problems I don't have time to talk about.

This is a great place to know about if you are in pain ... they sincerely try to help you out here…read more The caveat is: you have to be "referred" by your own physician because ... in the eyes of the government and health insurance companies ... you are not competent to make sound decisions about your own health. I had an experience with Physicians Pain Specialists in 2004 due to a herniated disk in my lower back and now I have returned here in early 2014 with same issue. The doctor I was assigned to in the past has moved on (probably retired) and this time I was assigned to Dr. Josphine Clingan. I suspect that the doctors here rely on their nursing staff quite heavily. Thus I found all of the staff I came in contact with to be very professional and personable. Dr. Clingan was equally personable with a great attitude to try to help you. One of the best things about PPS is that if you leave a phone message they get back to you before the day is out. That is not expected in these type of businesses and quite appreciated. The practice is on the grounds of St. Joseph's Hospital professional building and that is an extremely busy area. Traffic is always congested and the (paid) parking garage is frequently crowded. There seems to be some kind of valet parking available if you seek it out. The only problems I found with PPS are not their fault. Rather it has to due with "laws" passed since I was a patient here in 2004. Overeager politicians "committed" to stopping the use of drugs for pain (the horror of it all!) have passed laws severely restricting dispensing of such pills. God forbid you people stay out of our lives and give yourselves a good look before worrying about us unwashed masses.

I brought my significant others here and the doctors here solved in 15 min what other practices had failed to figure out for 3 years for her. Every doctor her or I have seen here is TOP NOTCH! (I see Dr. Hunter). Emory has a practice of responsible prescribing, so if you're trying to get a fix, go somewhere else. If you want accurate diagnosis and solutions to your health problems that work, this is the place for you! If you read negative, bitchy reviews, don't believe them. This place is fantastic.

I needed to get a physician's assessment and TB test for my aunt with Alzheimer's as part of the…read moreregulatory requirements for getting her into assisted living. By chance, she had her annual wellness visit coming up, so I thought getting those small things done as part of the visit would be quick and easy. It was not. Despite being scheduled to see her GP, we ended up seeing a different doctor, who was reluctant to do the assessment. She eventually agreed, but would not give the paperwork to us without a power of attorney, despite the fact that my aunt was right there. She also ordered a TB test, although apparently they couldn't draw her blood or do any of her vaccines in her office for reasons. I offered to run home and get it, but she insisted that I needed to make another appointment, but did allow that I didn't need to bring my aunt back. I really needed the form, so I agreed and made an appointment in the earliest available slot, the following week. I returned as scheduled, PoA in hand, only to be told that now they couldn't give me the paperwork because my aunt wasn't present. After much arguing, they finally agreed that if I could get my aunt onto a video call they would do a tele-health appointment and restart the process from the beginning. After an hour of waiting on call with my aunt, the doctor finally showed up and we got the assessment. Shortly after this, the results for the TB test I'd taken her to the lab to get started came through. I immediately called the doctor's office and asked them to send the results to the assisted living facility. They agreed to do so. By the beginning of the next week, they had not done it. The facility called and asked for their information to see if they would have any more luck getting the paperwork from the office. They did not. At that point it had been nearly two weeks since I started the process, and the doctor's office was still stalling us at every point. I'd kept the original copy of the assessment, so all I needed was the TB test result. I decided to get it myself. Unfortunately, Emory had somehow managed to get a phone number none of us recognized as the two factor authentication on her MyChart, and even with my aunt asking personally they would not give us access. After a couple of hours of frustration, I decided it would be faster to go down to the doctor's office and request a copy in person. I was wrong. I showed up, in person, with a medical PoA and advanced directive, with mom, my aunt's emergency contact, in tow, and requested the test results. They would not give them to us. I called my aunt, and she talked to them personally. They would not give us the test results. I have never seen anything like this, a medical practitioner refusing to hand over test results despite requests from literally every single person with any kind of interest or legal standing to ask, including the patient. At this point, my mom was literally crying in their office because they would not let us get my aunt into a safer living environment. They did not care. We obviously knew she didn't have TB, because we weren't in quarantine telling CDC doctor's who we'd seen in the last week. But they wouldn't actually tell us that. Eventually, after an insane amount of time, they gave us a literally worthless, unsigned letter saying she didn't have TB, but they wouldn't give us the test results. I finally gave up and went home, and after a couple more hours of headaches managed to get into MyChart and download the results. I understand that medicine can be litigious, but there comes a point where legal protections compromise patient care. Emory Family Medicine is far past that point. I think it's fair to say that they no longer practice medicine in any meaningful form, and are now just a legal mitigation strategy firm. The level of care and concern they showed for my aunt was non-existent. They delayed a meaningful improvement in my aunt's circumstances for a ridiculous length of time for no reason except to cover their own asses. They should be ashamed to claim to be healers.
