I'm a full-time student and ever since shelter in place has started I've developed more wrist and back pain. I've been working with Ro at PMPT and he does a great job in being very clear and patient with me when it comes to teaching feasible exercises and stretches to do throughout my day. He helped me to see the importance of making time for movement throughout my day, especially since I am sitting down in front of my computer 75% of the time. Bryan has been providing me with physical therapy after a full knee replacement for many months. He is by far the best physical therapist I've ever had. Where do i even begin with PMPT. Josh and Joey have been so helpful with fitness journey and recovery. My experience with Dr. Ro has been phenomenal! I have worked with many PTs in the past for my injuries, but I have never experienced physical therapy that focuses on treating the whole body rather than just the pain point. The crew at PMPT have been so helpful with several mobility issues I have been having in my seasoned age. I first approached Dr. Joey regarding my issues with sciatica. Wow, I injured my shoulder using a very heavy slam ball. After trying to ignore it for several months I was hurting so bad that I went to a sports medicine doctor who did an MRI to make sure it wasn't torn (it wasn't). He recommended a therapist to try to strengthen the tissues and rehab the shoulder, and Joey came highly recommended by an Olympic lifter friend of mine I trust. I made an appointment to see him and during our first session he did a very complete assessment and got my history noted. Then the treatments started. Don't be fooled, he works you hard, but not in a zone that causes pain. He has an incredible amount of education and experience and he explained exactly what the goal of the sessions were, and where my muscles were compensating for lack of stability in the joint. He assigns "homework" so this isn't a "drop in for a massage" kind of thing - you're expected to work, and he's going to make sure you're safe and heading in the right direction with good form. His facility is clean, well lit, professional, and he has all the latest equipment to make a clear diagnosis. He's constantly going to advanced educational classes himself and evaluating all the current thinking in the field, and if something isn't working, he has the ability to adjust quickly to get you back on track. He also helped me realize that sitting at work for hours on end was slowly killing me. I put in a standing desk after a recommendation from him and changed my workstation accordingly and it's been life changing. I'm happy to say that after a few months with Joey, my shoulder was good as new and I was pressing my four-year-old overhead and out of a swimming pool for hours on end with no pain. Joey has an engaging and friendly personality, coupled with an infectious enthusiasm for helping people be their best. PMPT has been instrumental in helping me rehab my shoulder and hip. I've had in-person sessions (pre COVID) and have moved to virtual 1:1 sessions. I was having issues with shoulder and hip and am using the physio app where I am able to complete prescribed exercises on my own. The videos are helpful because they are customized for my specific issues and include helpful cues about what I should be focusing on and why it's important to keep an eye out. This has been a game changer and my "ailments" are no longer a barrier to my day to day tasks. I was worried that they would continue to get worse if I didn't do anything about it. That's no longer the case. This is not a one and done deal. I, of course, have to continue wanting to improve my condition and spend time daily to do the exercises. In total, I worked with Joey for 5 months on a weekly basis, with our understanding that it would be a limited course. With a demanding job that required 8+ hours of computer work, two elbow injuries from climbing, there was deep work ahead. The best PT you will find in the bay area. As a strength and conditioning coach myself finding a reliable PT for my clients had been a failed search until I met Joey two years ago. There is not another PT I respect and trust more. When I tore my Achilles this past winter Joey was the very first person who I thought to reach out to. I've seen physical therapists in numerous cities over the years. Josh is head and shoulders above the rest. I first started seeing Josh a little over a year ago for problems with my knees -- too much heavy lifting and skiing and not enough mobility work led to knee cap tracking problems, damaged cartilage and the pain that goes with it. From the jump it was clear Josh was going to be the best PT I'd worked with. He's like a detective or investigator -- he's always looking for a way to continue to improve what we are doing to correct my problems. Many PTs will put you on a cookie cutter stretching and strengthening program. Not Josh -- his stuff is tailored to your specific situation. Most importantly, it works. My knees are much better after all of our work together, including two derailments as a result of unanticipated surgeries. Perhaps what I find most amazing is that he's also able to easily pivot to different issues than those he's primarily treating me for. For example, one of my surgeries left my left shoulder very unhappy when flat barbell bench pressing. One session with Josh on that shoulder followed by several days of the stretches he gave me and I have been able to bench almost pain free (instead of feeling like someone was knifing my shoulder). Simply put, he's excellent at what he does. If you're a serious athlete of any kind or you just have an issue nobody else has been able to sort out, go see him. He'll get you better. read more

Before I worked with Bryan from Progressive Motion Physiotherapy, I was having problems recovering from ay 2nd ACL surgery and I had trouble playing basketball to my fullest potential. I dislocated my ankle in a mountain biking accident last year. After having surgery, I worked with Josh for about ~5 months to minimize my daily discomfort & pain and, eventually, walk / run properly again. Josh's therapeutic muscular treatments always made me feel 5-10x better after each hour-long session, and the "neuromuscular re-education" exercises he assigned to me (through an interactive app) that I performed daily between sessions were incredibly effective as well. I was constantly impressed by Josh's deep fundamental knowledge about anatomy and my respective ailments, and his resourcefulness & creativity to come up with new exercises or therapies to try to improve my injured state were very much appreciated! Having a medical background, I do extensive research on choosing doctors and medical professionals before I would recommend them to family and friends. My daughter injured her head, neck, and back due to a car accident. She was seeing two other physical therapists who helped in different capacities. Even though she was doing better in some regards, she continued to have pain and difficulty moving around. I found Dr. Joey Salgado on Yelp and checked his impressive bio. His pricing is reasonable (insurance is not accepted) and he spends at least 55 minutes with my daughter for each session. I messaged the business and Joey called me right away, which surprised me. He is very down to earth, knowledgeable, and honest. My daughter has seen him five times and she is doing great. He breaks down the regimen for her and she performs the video exercises provided on the App. She is standing taller due to the exercises which are strengthening her core. As physical therapists, the CA state requires 30 hours of continuing education; he has done over 250 hours. He enjoys learning and performs traditional and holistic approaches - best of both worlds. After three years of multiple misdiagnoses, yelp lead me to Dr. Hughes in San Mateo who quickly had me in for surgery for a torn hip labrum. He sent to me to Joey who helped me immensely with getting back on my feet. If you are looking for someone who is extremely knowledgable, caring and at the same time will push you properly and correctly in your rehab, Joey is your man. While having gone to several different physical therapists for long term rehabilitation stints; Joey is great with manual manipulation; i.e. he gets into the joint and truly works on getting you feeling better, range of motion, ect. Joey is THE BEST PT I've ever been seen by! I met Joey actually through Instagram. I started training at D1 in May 2014 and that's how we connected because he was interested in checking D1 out. He asked me how my trainings were at that time (May 2015). This is when I recently had an injury from training (I fell off the stability ball as I was doing chest presses with two 20-lb dumbbells. Stability ball fell backwards and I hit the ground pretty hard on my back). Thus, injured my back. Joey offered to see me for a consultation. You wouldn't believe how bad my neck/back was because I could barely move. First session, Joey tested my movement with the FMS test. I failed horribly on that test. I could barely balance and I realized as much as I thought I had good form, I had horrible form (partly too due to pain - so that's what I believe). Throughout the last several months, we'd been working on addressing the pain through him using the Graston Technique (which is pretty darn cool)! The best technique though I found pretty awesome is the Myofascial Decompression. That technique is far awesome, even if I walk away with all kinds of marks (some people may not appreciate but I think it's pretty cool story to tell). My neck and back started to feel a lot better and of course that's when my knees started to give out. We'd been working on my knees as well and addressing the pain. With a combination of Graston, Myofascial decompression and exercises, we've addressed the pain. What I've learned with Joey is that we can address the pain all we want, but if I'm not making an effort to move in good form, I'll never get better. Every week I'd continue to do the exercises that Joey asked me to do because I knew that if I did those exercises, I'd move better. HE WAS RIGHT. I made it my medication to exercise and do Joey's exercises on top of the exercises I already did during my trainings. For a person like myself, when Joey asked to take a few days, it was REALLY HARD, but I knew he knew best and I am glad I listened. I stepped back tremendously with my trainings; however, it benefited me 10x more than if I continued to do all my trainings. I've substituted the days I didn't train with my PT exercises and still exercised at least 6-7 days. In the last month, I'm moving pain free all thanks to Joey. For the first time since MAY 2015, I am finally able to do sit-ups, pull-ups, push-ups and running, but more importantly get up from bed without rolling! I continue to see Joey because now it's all about maintenance and injury prevention which is what we want. Now that I am not injured, I'd like to keep it that way. I do have a lot of work in regards to mobility and making sure to stretch so that I don't tense up. I have an awesome PT, teacher and new friend and I'm super glad to have met my AWESOME PT Joey! I came to Joey after my 2nd surgery for a torn labrum. My shoulder was locking up and I could not move it very much. Joey explained what was happening and how to fix it. TLDR: I hurt my knee doing something stupid. Doc recommended ten sessions of PT and rest. Joey helped me recover in six and set me on my way to becoming even stronger. He is an all around upbeat and cool guy. I love weight training, specifically barbell training. The progressive challenge and constant ability to improve keep me going. Unfortunately I frequently travel out of the country for work and am stuck at the mercy of whatever hotel gym I can find. So, I want to squat without a barbell? No big deal! Pistol squats. Even better, weighted pistol squats! I've never done those before but I can handle it. Five reps on the right, good to go. One rep on the left, I crumple to the ground in pain, my vastus medialis screaming in pain, limp out of the hotel gym, back to my room. Oops. Back home after three weeks and my patella is still hurting, the doc said the diagnosis was minor and ten sessions of PT would help me recover more quickly. She said to rest and wait. Don't squat past ninety degrees. I found Joey by searching for an FMS (look it up) practitioner and he was able to schedule an hour with me right away. He lifts and trains himself so he understands proper lifting mechanics, which was VERY important to me. He immediately found that almost everything in both of my legs were tight and need improvement: ankle mobility, calves, quads, IT band, and hips. He was super confident and upbeat about my knee's recovery prospects and had me feeling at ease quickly. The best part about Joey's services is that he teaches you to be your own PT. I've used a D.C. in the past and had mixed results, but one thing that really makes that hard to keep up is that I can't treat myself at home. Joey gave me a list of tools I can buy (voodoo wrap, superband, foam roller, lacrosse ball, Grey Cook band, runner's stick) and showed me how to use them. Each session he gave me a few new things to throw into my mobilization routine, which just takes between 15-20 minutes (or longer as desired) daily that don't require any special skills or certifications to perform on myself. In my visits he used a combo of Graston and Myofascial Decompression (cupping with dynamic stretching, look it up) and had me touching my toes after one visit, improved my hamstring flexibility very quickly, and had me on the way to loosening up my quads. So, how did things go? The doc said ten visits. I finished in just SIX over a three week period with no more pain, and I feel awesome. My legs feel totally different and squatting feels good again. I am no stranger to physical therapists, and can tell the difference between good and great PTs. Through their warm and welcoming practice in Menlo Park, Josh and Joey are changing the name of the game by employing EFFECTIVE therapy. They pay attention to minor details of their clients' physiology and mechanics, and set up individualized treatments. I thoroughly enjoyed working with Dr. Joey. In the midst of the pandemic, I was worried about going into a building for my therapy and the concierge service was perfect. He came to my home and we worked out on my back deck in the open air. He was extremely prepared with all of the necessary sanitizing and we both wore masks the entire time. I also appreciated that he was always punctual. The exercise regimen that he provided has helped me with my hip and shoulder issues and I'm on a path to getting back to normal. I developed chronic neck pain. I had a visit with my GP and ended up going to physical therapy for several months with little to no improvement. Amy at the Palo Alto PMP was recommended to me by a friend, so I went for a visit. Amy worked with me for a couple of sessions and was able to figure out what was causing the neck pain. She gave me exercises for my neck, but more importantly she advised me how to correct my posture and how to use my arm when lifting and holding heavy items like a leaf blower. For the first time in many months I am free of neck pain. With that success I now continue to see Amy for more minor issues like occasional lower back and elbow pain. Amy is very knowledgeable, but also very smart. I can see the wheels turning in her brain as I describe my pain and activities that aggravate it. She ponders for a minute and then guides me through specific exercises or day to day movement suggestions to address the problem.
