When I arrived, I was politely greeted by name, since I was the first order of the day, and handed my food. I requested a veggie bowl with rice and a spicy California sushi roll. The veggie bowl was hot and very tasty. I would request that again for sure. The sushi roll was a bit small, but it was a fair amount of sushi for the price. As far as taste and texture goes, I could tell that the sushi was made fresh and the crunchy bits that I requested to be added gave it a nice texture. The flavor was just okay. I feel like their sushi needs to be jazzed up a bit, in general. What a groovy little place! Decked out in surfer decor, this posh sushi joint hits the spot for your sushi craving! We ordered carry out during the corona crisis and my order was ready right on time. I used their website to place my order which was stupid easy...it lets you request soy paper wraps and add/delete items from your roll easily. They even have an app. If you create an account, you'll see a timer that tells you when your order will be ready. Our rolls were fantastic!! We will certainly be repeat customers!! While in Medina, I wanted some lunch. I try to patronize a local restaurant at least once a week. I was at a plaza and saw the sign for Project Sushi. I was greeted warmly immediately after entering. This space is very welcoming and clean. The menu was explained to me after the lady asked if it was my first time. I ordered the chicken tempura roll and the banana dessert. It was so yummy! Very very good selection of sushi. I got basic rolls, but they were very good. My husband was very pleased with their chicken stir fry bowl. My wife and I decided to give this place one more chance, and although the A/C works now, their listening skills and food preparation leave much to be desired. I entered anticipating a blast of hot air again, but was pleasantly surprised when a refreshing breeze greeted me. And I thought, hmm maybe our previous review was premature? I was greeted by a young man with a double lip piercing (must be a fad there?) who promptly told me he couldn't help because his shift was over, and then yelled for someone else to help me. I took a menu, noted our choices, and took my time explaining what I wanted because of my food allergies. They have a huge selection of both the standard rolls every one sells and a long list of specialty rolls; mThe food preparer then handed over our order to another person to finish, and left. I took my order home where the two paper bags immediately went into the fridge. It's wasn't until we opened them later the true extent of their incompetence became visible. I had ordered (4) rolls for each of us, stating that my choices MUST be sesame seed and avocado free, while my wife's were regular. What we got were (8) boxes of rolls, all seed and avocado free, no labels as what each were, pitiful amounts of ginger, and the most bizarre, all the sauces (Kikomans, mayo-sirache, & honey-wasbe) that should have been on top of their respective rolls, came instead in separate little containers! Was it an afterthought? I am sorry, but when you pay good money for a roll, I expect both a visual and taste experience. That is, to not only "see" the contents, but also NOT have to "guess" which topping goes on which roll! My wife and I DO NOT recommend this business, nor will we EVER come back. It's ok, it's good but nothing special. I think the Sushi game is flooded and with all the competition this isn't "the spot" for great sushi. I've had it a few different times because it's convenient, both times I went there wasn't a customer in the place. It seems to be more of a take out situation based on the Moto on the wall and that they actually do delivery which is a bonus. I haven't had anything bad, just pretty standard run of the mill stuff. It's refreshing to find a great sushi place in northern Ohio. You walk into a clean, bright, welcoming restaurant. If feels like summer when you walk in and I could imagine a beach being right outside. People are friendly and chatty. I had eel, yellowtail, and tuna nigiri sushi and a roll with tuna, jalapeño and avocado. The jalapeño is a great addition for crunch and a little bit of heat. Simple (minimalist), appealing presentation. And it's the best ginger I've ever had with sushi. It tasted fresh, not too sweet and really hot. I loved it. If you're in the area, go. This place is an absolute must visit if you're in the area and love sushi. Im working in the area for a few days and needed something quick. It was close and I love sushi so why not... I feel like I struck gold. Without question the best sushi I've ever had and I spend a lot of time working in NYC and LA the supposed havens for this type of cuisine. This place tops even the fanciest spots in both those cities. Aside from the incredible food, the service is personable, friendly, and welcoming. The ambiance is super chill, great casual feel. I walked into this place without seeing any reviews and instantly thought--oh no, I have made a mistake. This place is fast-casual and I wasn't prepared for that. I was incredibly pleasantly surprised. The store is brightly lit, very clean, and decorated with surf-culture stuff. There was coverage of some surfing competition on the television. There were lots of tables but also an area with comfy couches and chairs. We ordered a Reef Roll, veggie stir-fry bowl with the chili-garlic sauce, and the veggie tempura. Everything was delicious! The veggies--in both the bowl and the tempura--were not overcooked. The tempura in particular was excellent--super crispy, flavorful, a good variety of veggies without getting crazy (green beans, broccoli, onion pieces, carrots). It came with a wasabi sauce to dip it in but I didn't even use it--the tempura was so so good on its own. The reef roll was wonderful. Beardyman took a long time to contemplate it. The stir-fry bowl was good. I liked that you had several options of sauces and rice/noodles. I anticipated the chili-garlic sauce to be spicy but it was not. It was good but next time I will probably try something else. My only hold-ups about this place is that they have no recycling option for all of the plastic dishware they give you. Also--one of the guys behind the counter was snarky at his mom when she came in to get food. Otherwise, the service was excellent, quick and high quality. I liked that they had loads of veggie options and that they weren't more expensive than the meat options like some other places. The food was great quality and we will definitely come back. When going for sushi at lunch, this is my spot in Medina. Usually a weekly Friday visit for a spicy tuna or yellowtail roll, some nigiri (tuna, yellowtail, and eel) or one of their creations (the volcano has become a favorite). If I'm eating sushi I want to know the ingredients are fresh and quality is consistent. In my opinion, Project Sushi does just that with reasonable prices and fast friendly service. It's an excellent lunch spot to pickup or dine in. The creations are a unique twist on normal sushi and fun to add (especially if splitting with a friend). Both times I have ordered Project Sushi, my sushi has come without sauce on it. Who wants to eat dry sushi? The first time I thought it was an accident. I tried to give them another chance by ordering a few weeks later. This time I even made note on my order in two different places to please add spicy mayo and eel sauce.
