Came for a private event before they opened for the day. We were able to rearrange the furniture and have a cute little tea party. Food- we tried a little bit of everything on the menu. It's a very interesting how the menu is set up because this restaurant has a nice variety of food from wings to cakes & pastries. Top foods to try- Proper Chicken Wings- tangy and fried to perfection. Bacon Brussel Sprouts- I don't even like Brussel sprouts but the bacon definitely convinced my tastebuds that the two belong together. However, we decided to come by here for a quick bite on date night without the kids and loved it. The Dragonaki had a crispy head filled with a dollop of ice cream, maybe two-three bites worth, and the body was of a fluffy cake texture with some custard inside. Compared to like an Ahbong come, the head was the same level of crisp but way less ice cream. The body was like a traditional tayaki but fluffier like cake and. It as dense. It was good, but pricer than it's counterparts and only worth getting for the picture since it's a cute little dragon. Would recommend coming here for the teas! So not impressed with this place. They claim to be a British tea spot but it's actually an English/Asian fusion place. They had none of the teas we wanted and when I ordered my sandwich I asked for the appetizer fries to be brought with our sandwich. They brought it out as an appetizer. So far, I've been here 3 times. Once with a friend, great place to catch up and share something light together. Second time was with my daughter, and we had a sophisticated tea party, their teapots and cups are beautiful and we just love how it adds to the experience. She still asks to go back all the time. Third time was a small baby shower get together for my sister, this place would make a great venue for celebrating. I love their green tea with their candied lemon on the bottom of the cup. Will forever be my go to. Their proper chicken wings (no joke) makes my mouth water just thinking about it. I can eat 2..maybe 3 plates by myself (yes, I know, very lady like). I've tried their egg salad sandwich, which was also very good. I'm not a super sweet tooth person, and their matcha crepe cake is just perfect for me. The bitterness from the matcha and light sweetness from the whipped cream complimented each other very well. Those are my favorites so far. My one gripe and reason for docking a star is that $50 tower. It comes with an assortment of cookies and pastries and your choice of any of their sandwich. For the price, I think it's a bit much. It's cute for pictures, but do I really want store bought pastries and packaged cookies and a sandwich for $50? Ehh...I'll pass. Now if it were a few specialized treats that were actually made and not store bought with the top tier being their sandwich, that would be a different story. Friday and Saturdays are busy, and can be a full house. Last time we were there it seemed that they had only 1 server and a bus boy. I've never been to a place like the Proper Rose Garden before. The aesthetics is so cute and well "proper"! I got the lavender and rose milk tea and I have to say I really loved the lavender milk. They have a holder for the pot that keeps the pot nice and warm and the perfect temperature so you have a nice tea that keeps the drink warm and warms up your soul. There is actually no caffeine in the lavender milk which I personally enjoy. I absolutely loved the tonkatsu sandwich. The sauce has a lot of flavor and the batter is nice and crispy and it's sandwich between a nice soft bread. Their basil popcorn chicken was honestly one of the best ones I've ever had. So crispy and flavorful and the bits of fried basil? -chefs kiss- Sweet potato fries were also good, calamari, honestly there wasn't a thing that disappointed me. Like everyone has been raving, this cafe is quaint, cute, and has a dainty ambiance. If you want to be transported to a fairy tea party, this is the place to go! Though it is a small place, it doesn't feel cramped inside. I went on a Tuesday at 2PM and it felt cozy. The staff is very sweet and wears masks. They also disinfected tables thoroughly so I was impressed! Regarding the menu, I loved how it included sugar quantity options for milk teas and photos for the majority of the items! I ordered the Dragonyaki with red bean filling. It is a little cow waffle with vanilla ice cream and tiny rainbow crystal sprinkles on top. The ice cream hat makes its head heavy and tilted. Once I removed it from the basket, it tipped forward completely and landed on its stomach. Luckily, Proper Garden Cafe provides an extra plate, spoon, and napkin per guest so I set it there to let the ice cream pool and soak into the dough. This process looked messy so I didn't take photos of it haha! My friend enjoyed the crêpe cake slice and we both agreed the desserts on their own are very filling. The oolong tea has wonderful notes of nuttiness and smooth honey. On its own, we agreed the tea did not need added honey; still, it does come with a mini honey pot in case you want more. A fun touch was the candle warmer underneath the teapot! It kept the tea at a warm temperature that did not scald your mouth if you immediately wanted to drink after pouring. This cafe is just begging for you to document the experience with photos. The service was terrible from start to finish. We were sat a small round table, and when we requested to move we were told that all of our order would fit. Soon after the first items came out we had not even elbow room and were forced to move.. WE had to carry all table utensils, no servers assisted until they saw us walking back and forth across the restaurant. The table we were moved to had old food residue all on the floor and didnt seem like it had been mopped for days. Not to mention the chairs had loose hairs and multiple oil and food stains. Very un -appetizing and disgusting. The food and teas came out, we received burnt squid balls which had to sent back, fried oreos with pieces of corn stuck to it, and tea pots without any sugar prongs, teaspoons, or napkins. Everything was lack luster and below sub par. When we asked for assistance we were ignored multiple times , even when the restaurant was not packed. To add the cherry on the cake the bathroom was disgusting and had muddy foot prints everywhere. I am very disappointed and disgusted with my first time experience with proper rose garden. The food was decent, however the recommended egg salad sandwich, I tried was good, if you love Dijon mustard. The rose milk tea which was also recommended was okay, but I enjoyed the other tea my friend had, which was without milk and more of a standard tea. Drop afternoon tea from your description! By far the norm is to include an assortment of finger sandwiches, not just a single sandwich cut into four squares with the crust not removed. Hot tea was served without a saucer, sugar and a spoon, had to request each item. The selected dessert (cheese cake and Vanilla Mille Crepe Cake) were served with a knife only, requested a fork, which took an extremely long time to receive. The "set" as the they refer to the afternoon tea, was placed on the 3 tier tray in the opposite order in which it is normally eaten such as the sandwiches on the bottom. Scones were similar to a large chewy cookie served without clotted cream, jam or lemon curd. All desserts appeared to be store brought. I removed 3 black specks of a foreign item from our plates/cup and the saucer for my tea cup was chipped. There were two people in our group, our table was too small to accommodate all of the dishes required for our "set", they had to remove items to make room on our table the our 3 -tier tray and then again to serve our special dessert. We drove 45 minutes each way. $60 per person before tax and tip. Lesson learned! read more

I took my family here and we absolutely enjoyed ourselves. What a cute concept and a beautifully decorated interior with cute tea sets. This is every girl's dream! Having tea with their friends and enjoying each other's company with good conversations. This is what this place provides. I love their taro milk tea. It taste just like taro and it gives off this vibrant, pretty purple color too. We also ordered their lava toast and it was nicely toasted and drizzled with condensed milk. I definitely recommend trying the lava toast or else you'll be missing out! We also ordered the milk tea cake and we thought it contained boba on top but it's actually blueberry. Was a bit disappointed they weren't boba but the blueberry is still a nice touch. But it was still fun to pull the wrapper off of it so the cream can flow right down the cake.
