In our experience, PRS was extremely unreliable, and I strongly encourage you to bring your business elsewhere. In our case, the project was initiated in March 2024, with PRS promptly coming to provide an on-site estimate. After carefully defining the project's scope via multiple e-mails, PRS completely stopped communicating when it was time to finalize the paperwork and begin the project. PRS failed to respond to multiple attempts at contact through May 2024 via e-mail, phone, and their website's inquiry form. This behavior by PRS was very disappointing. After writing a negative review in May 2024, PRS responded immediately to the review and offered to follow up with me shortly to try to remedy the communication issues, which they blamed on the departure of a former employee. However, Nicole Pettit responded shortly thereafter, promising a quick review of the project and prompt follow-up. Unfortunately, that was the last time I heard from her or PRS despite at least three attempts at further communication. It's now December 2024, and PRS has still failed to follow up. I am glad my project was not urgent, and I look forward to doing business with companies that are more capable of finishing the projects they start. I encourage you to do the same. read more

THEIVES took my money and ran. They strung me along for 5 1/2 months. I was out of town and unable to be there to verify their work but I trusted that work they said they did was being completed. They kept charging me and not showing proof of work completed so I got suspicious when the Owner Nicole had a never ending list of crises to justify why she could never get back to me. I went to my house and the work they claimed they completed was NOT done. I showed up to their office on July 5th to clear things up but it was cleared out and empty! I tried reaching Nicole after I saw that they cleared out their offices and all calls were going to their answering service. She emailed me and said she has bad reception and hasn't been able to call me, continuing this appearance of still being in business. She said NOTHING about clearing out of their spaces or that they've moved or even in business. It's been nearly a week. No one knows where they are. I paid them THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. I will be reporting them to the police. Please do NOT fall for their act THEY ARE GONE! Apparently they also have a business in Texas. RUN AWAY read more

Terrible. I authorized work on a small bathroom on 2/14/24. The contract listed the completion date on 3/20/24. The work began ok, but after a few weeks they stopped showing up and the project manager Cameron Marshall became non-responsive. Nicole Petite took over in late April, she promised a completion date of 5/22, work restarted but only for a few days until it stopped and she became less responsive. Nicole then sublet the job to Paul of Rivera Tile and Marble on July 12. Paul promised to work on the project until it was completed which he said would be July 26. He started off good, but is now not showing up to work for the last 3 days he said he would be here and is now non-responsive. It is now August 28. I feel cheated and deeply disappointed. read more

When Customer Service is more than two words. Property Restoration Services did our full kitchen remodel in spring of 2019. They were professional, easy to work with and got our job done on time and on budget. Part of that remodel involved cutting a vent to the attic. The recent heavy rains resulted in a leak from that vent on the roof. There was some uncertainty over who was responsible for fixing this issue since the vent cap was on the roof and PRS was not authorized to do any work on the roof. However, PRS agreed to fix the water damage under warranty and at no cost to us. It wasn't that they repaired the damage, ( I had mentioned that we could split the cost, or they could do the work at a discount ) it was that they thought it more important to have a loyal and satisfied customer. You know what they say, it's when you have a problem, that true colors show. That's why I am writing this review, and why I recommend PRS for any construction project that you have planned. When Victor and his crew came out, they were the fourth company we had called. They showed up with positive energy and optimism and inspected our water damaged crawlspace for free. They fixed our rented dehumidifier for us, gave my husband some free contamination suits to wear (he had been going below in old clothes to assess our damage himself), and gave us a thorough report--complete with pictures--of what was going on. We contacted PRS for an emergency dispatch we had a water pipe burst in front of our home causing water pressure to shoot everywhere in November. We were unable to tighten/stop the water. Their team arrived immediately and controlled the situation. They switched off the water from the street drain and closed the cap that came off. Walked us through the process. We also just reached out January 2021 we had a water leak which flooded our living room due to the severe heavy rains. Their team arrived immediately assessed the damage, dried out the ceiling, and went up into the attic to find where the leak was coming from. Roof was tarpped. Flooring was removed to prevent mold growth and further damage. We're in process to be repaired. Their floor selections are beautiful. I highly recommend PRS, their team is amazing. After a recent rain storm we noticed water accumulated in the inside tracks of our sliding glass doors. Being older doors we thought maybe it was time to replace the doors. Joe P came out for a site visit and after a good discussion his recommendation was to keep our doors and for us to perform some minor maintenance. In August 2016 we suffered serious water damage to the upper floor and garage of our home on the Monterey Peninsula. PRS responded to our emergency within an hour and began a round-the-clock operation to mitigate the results of a massive failure in the plumbing system. For several days the crews rotated shifts until the situation was under control. The effort required not only removing carpet and drywall but also saving and protection our personal possessions. Following an extended "drying out" period, the PRS crews transitioned seamlessly into a restoration mode. They upgraded and replaced all original plumbing, including sink, laundry room, tub, and shower drains; plus the entire sewer system from bathrooms to the remote city connection. New toilets were installed. In addition to the plumbing operation, new tile which perfectly matched the original, was installed in the master bathroom. Drywall was repaired and the interior was finished to like-new condition. Extensive preparation was made for the installation of new flooring. In sum, all the latest materials and installation technologies were utilized. After the new flooring was installed throughout the house, PRS was called in to perform a massive mitigation task in order for us to return to a safe and healthy environment. Without hesitation they responded immediately to this new problem and spent several weeks sweeping down the ceilings and walls plus cleaning furniture and other household items, e.g., books and appliances. Large HEPA filters in containerized areas of the house were utilized to insure the restoration of safe air quality. Bottom line: We did not lose a single personal item, nor was any piece furniture or kitchenware scratched or broken! PRS exercised incredible care in wrapping, crating and conducting major content manipulation over a period of several months. I called Property Restoration Services of Monterey because they were the only company I could find that would be able to come out on short notice. Seems to be a theme that the really good companies are booked at least a couple weeks in advance. I found them through Yelp when looking for an alternative to the company I had used in the past, (Seacliff Environmental Services - http://www.seacliffenv.com) via their paid for advertisement on the side of the page with the other mold remediation companies. At the time they didn't even have one Yelp review positive or negative so I went ahead and called them because none of the positively reviewed companies on Yelp could come out for two weeks or longer. Sincerely, I can not recommend using this company's services because though they did come out a couple of days later and took care of the superficial mold problem, they neither offered any guarantee for their work nor seemed to really care that the way that they left things would have no doubt become mold infested again after the first rain. Thankfully, I later discovered their mistake when dealing with an associated issue in that wall. They had not replaced the moisture barrier between the outside siding and the wall cavity as well as leaving some of the insulation out. So the bottom 4 feet of the wall had visible daylight showing when we opened the wall! This is a basic mistake that anyone with basic carpentry skills would never do. Frankly, its kind of mind-blowing that they think they are qualified to be in the mold remediation business at all because in the long run they left the space in worst shape than they found it. I guess its just a case of "buyer beware". In addition to this very shoddy workmanship, they came up with a totally outlandish bill with travel charges, extra set-up charges, over-charges from an unspecified charge to Home Depot (about $130 for a partial sheet of sheet rock and about 30 screws which probably cost about $25), $430 for the use of their dehumidifier for 5 days (found a similar model in excellent shape on Ebay which I could have purchased outright for $610) and about $1100 for labor for the mold technician @ $65/hour who was here for a total of 6 hours max (I asked prior to the job starting what the labor charges were going to be and they should have been no more than $500) all of which resulted in a bill of $1758! I discovered this "padding" of the bill when they finally got around to billing me - six weeks after the service was performed. When I tried to negotiate this bill over the phone the representative became very belligerent over the phone without cause. I was told that the bill had already been reduced as low as it could be and that to even discuss the charges that I would have to write out each and every detail of the service, by the day and hour as well as any other specific details, which I had already just explained over the phone. Also, I would need to get an "expert" to write a letter addressing my complaint about the lack of a moisture barrier replacement. The message I got loud and clear from their customer service representative was that it was going to be more trouble that it was worth to negotiate with them. In conclusion, I hope to encourage prospective customers to find another mold remediating services as these people are very deficient in customer service, honesty and their supposed craft. read more

My mother had a house fire. We hired PRS. They assisted in prepping the home for an Abatement program. They completed the job of getting temporary power and a permit. That was completed and we were happy that the house could move forward to the Abatement process. I notified them that we were switching companies for the construction phase. I was very disappointed in how unprofessional they were about collecting payment once we announced we were switching. I was not happy with the way this company went about invoicing me for the work they completed and collecting their payment which was about $3,000. I forwarded the invoice to my insurance company as I received it but didn't realize the invoice date was 8/3 and the due date was 12 days later 8/15(usually you get 30 days before something is due). On Friday 8/12, the Contract Manager from PRS called me and left a message. He also notified me via email that the invoice was due on Monday 8/15 said "we are in need of payment for the invoice for services to date in order to avoid our lien rights from triggering on this property as of the 8/15". I responded that I was checking the insurance people to find out if they could expedite a check. The insurance people had questions and attempted twice to call and speak on my mother's behalf by scheduling an phone appointment with PRS. I was told by PRS that the contract was not with the insurance company but, between PRS and my mother. They refused to speak with the insurance company. All they wanted was payment from my mother immediately. I began to question them about the invoice being due so quickly, why would they automatically want to lien my mother's house and the fact that the numbers didn't add up. I don't know anything about construction or how they charge things or that they can demand payment so quickly and put a lien on the house. I told them I WOULD pay even if I had to do it out of pocket and not wait for the insurance company to cut the check. I just needed to be able to explain the charges to my insurance company and things weren't adding up. Insurance was questioning the Labor charges being high at $1004 for 12 hours to pull permit and to hire an electrician to put in temporary power. The electrician's bill was separate. They were questioning why things didn't seem to add up. I just needed an explanation. Eventually, by the third day I called, left a message and did not get a call back, I was told not to call if I had questions. I was only allowed to communicate via email with their Contract person. (I live out of state so, walking into their office to talk face to face was not an option.) The PRS rep who wrote me the emails did not answer my questions as to why the items didn't add up on the invoice. He only told me to check one particular page...that's it. No explanation. Finally after 5 days(after the invoice was due) of going back and forth, I figured out that there was a tiny print at the bottom of the invoice that said "Total w/ Mark up(20%)". There was NOT a line item and dollar amount that showed their Mark up on that invoice...it was just included into the total. It wouldn't have been hard for PRS to explain that...I had included my emails to as many people in that company as I could to make sure they knew that their person was being so difficult but, no one else tried to explain anything to me or my insurance company from PRS. They were fully aware that their representative that I was dealing with was saying he would lien my mother's house. Eventually, I contacted a lawyer and checked the Contractor State licensing board. I found a website for consumers with awesome information. It's called the Department of Consumer Affairs Contractor's State Licensing Board(CSLB) to ask for help and advice. Then, after PRS refused to answer my questions I contacted a lawyer for advice about the lien. It was all very stressful week. I eventually had the check made out to the Contractor and Subcontractor(just in case they didn't pay the sub-a sub can lien your house if they aren't paid by a contractor-according to the CSLB) &requested a Lien Release upon Payment. I wanted to tell all of you that you have choices...don't let this company intimidate you. I am happy for all of you that had great experiences with this company. At the beginning, it was call me if you have any questions, thank you for your business and everything was very professional....but, then it all turned out awful. I know they were not happy with my decision to switch contractor's but, I was very disappointed in how unprofessional they were. It was frustrating to be treated like I was a deadbeat and like the bill had gone directly to Collections with the threat of a lien if I didn't pay right away. For the record, the bill was paid in full and sent via Fed Ex overnight on Aug. 19th. All I wanted was my questions answered about the invoice and my mother's house without the lien.
