HORRENDOUS!!! I wish I had read the reviews calling him a scammer before we hired him. Our family had hired Greg to protest property taxes on our behalf annually. Then suddenly one year, he provided no notice, and simply forgot to protest our property taxes, so of course the taxes went up. Had he told us, we would have hired someone else or done it ourselves. (By the way, its not hard to protest your taxes, if you google it, you can do it yourself online. It just takes time.) Fast forward a year, Greg sends me a letter that he is putting a lien against my house unless I pay him for something that I don't believe I owe him for. If someone puts a lien against your house, you can lose your house. In my opinion, this is an abuse of his position as a lawyer. Received a "bill" in the mail stating I owe them money for "appealing" my property taxes but I reached out to the Property Tax Appeal Board and there is no appeal filed for my property taxes. The letter does not state if they tried to reach out to me or if they have sent prior mailing trying to contact me to or sent invoices. In addition, they use threatening language, such I was like I wont be able to get a loan on my property or sell if I don't pay them their 259 dollars for filing and appeal on my property. read more

What a joke. I put in for a homeowners exemption and it gets reduced. They charge me for that. I called three times to speak with someone regarding my situation and no one could address the issue. I honestly think this is a scam. I never received a call, nor a notice about my property tax bill going down. I received an invoice saying I had to pay $780 and if I do not pay, they will put a lein on my house and this is basically to scare me. The service was completed, but done at an astronmical price. I should have done more research last year, my bad. I did not keep the paperwork that I signed. I think I would have avoided signing it, if I had known they were going to take and arm and a first child for this service. They took 50% of my first years savings. Imagine writing a check for $600 so I can save $1200 on my property taxes next year. Complete rip off, not that I am doing the research I am finding other companies at 25%. They do not look at all aspects of your appeal and can end up hurting your situation in the long run. We had a freeze and they should have told us that an appeal would unlock a freeze. There are so many companies out there go to them or do it yourself. read more

I have used Property Tax Solutions and can attest they do excellent work. Greg was persistent on having my property fairly appraised and taxed. The firm is honest on their claims and pricing. I have used other firms that claimed my taxes were higher than their research showed and they would safe me a specific amount. They charged upfront to file the claim and produced no results. The insult was a post card the following year (which they send to millions) with the same claim soliciting my business with the same upfront fee and saving figure. Property Tax Solutions has been appealing my taxes for me for the last 6 or 7 years or so, and 4 times I have received a rollback in my assessment and a cut in my property taxes. I received mail offering. I used Property Tax Solution to lower my property tax to lower my property tax. They did save my money.

Wow...this was the poorest customer service I have had in years. The service was completed...we saved a very, very minor amount (not necessarily their fault), but it was impossible to get anyone to return you call or email. I would never have bothered with this had I known how poor their services were. I honestly doubt that the good reviews are actual customers. If you are thinking of re evaluating/determining if your real estate taxes are too high, do the research yourself. It isn't difficult...I did it myself waiting months and months for them to answer. Mr. Hilton may be a decent attorney but his staff, particularly, the lady who always answers phone and email (Sharon), is by far the rudest person I've ever come across in my life. After making several follow-ups via email asking what the status is of my appeal and never hearing anything back, I tried calling only to get the voicemail and nobody bothering to return my calls. When I finally got a hold of someone, Sharon, was as rude as one can be. She was highly disorganized and upon providing her with every detail, she still couldn't locate my account on her computer. I am not sure what her problem was, but it appeared she just wanted to argue with me and here I was a paying customer calling her to ask if I owe anything for the services and if so how do I pay! Believe it or not, she was arguing with me over the origin of my home's street name saying its Italian and not Spanish! She never mailed me paperwork indicating what the end result was of my appeal was to the County. When I requested it, she said this tax firm tries to save money on postage stamps so can she take pictures of the letter that ought to have been mailed to me and she'll instead send it to me via text message as teeny tiny images. That says a lot about this place if they cannot afford a 50 cent postage stamp and that too for a customer who is paying them! Of course, when billing me, they took the liberty of rounding to the nearest dollar. Cheap people! Stay away from this horrible place. I am pretty sure all the positive reviews here are written by the staff to gain customers. Highly disappointing. I'd rather pay extra to the County as my property tax than deal with this rude woman. This review is going to sound too good to be true, but we are legitimately over the moon with the results we just got from the appeal PTS filed for us. The process itself was easy: I signed two documents, and they did the research and filed the paperwork. When I sent a follow-up question via email, I received a response in a couple hours. And when I called today to ask about next steps, Sharon was a delight. Our tax appeal has resulted in an estimated $10,000 in savings per year for the next two years. While PTS's fee is 50% of the first year's savings, it is absolutely worth it! Going forward, when our home is assessed in 2021, it will be assessed at the new (significantly) lower rate, so the savings will continue. PTS staff is knowledgeable, prompt, and have gone above and beyond in helping with additional property tax information that will help save us money after we are finished refinancing our house next month. My experience with Property Tax Solutions was positive and seamless. I received an envelope full of filled in documents and an estimate of what Property Tax Solutions estimated they could save me on my property taxes. They quoted me an annual savings of $353 dollars and after reading through their brochure I was assured that if they were unable to lower my current assessment I wouldn't be charged and if they were their fee would be 50% of my first year's savings. This was stated a handful of times on just about every document in the envelope so it was very clear to me what my fee would be. I also appreciated the fact that everything was pre-filled in for me because it was convenient. I didn't find it suspicious considering a lot of the information that was filled in was information that anyone could easily look up and find out about my property anyway. I submitted my paperwork back in March and received a confirmation email that they received it and were working on my case. Today I received a letter from Property Tax Solutions stating that they were able to offer me an annual savings of $483 for the next 2 years and my fee was $241.50, which is 50% of the first year's savings. I'm happy to pay the fee and I'm happy that I decided to have my assessment value disputed! I would do business with them again. read more

My property taxes actually went up considerably, I think this was a scam. Unfortunately, Property Tax Solutions did not due their due diligence. They sent out incorrect information about my township, and then sent out an apology letter which I received one day after the appeal deadline with the county had closed. Their data glitch and communication about it was a huge error, and I am not sure how it can be made right at this point. If this is the only thing that they do, they should be sure and do it correctly. If they have a way to redeem the error, I am open to rewriting my review. read more

These guys are the real deal. When I received their materials in the mail I was highly skeptical. The prior year - which was the triennial assessment year - I had submitted an appeal to the Board of Review on my own and already received a very large decrease in assessed valuation which I was satisfied with. This was after the Cook County Assessor declined my appeal to them. I read PTC's material VERY carefully. It was straightforward and I saw no potential pitfalls. They do NOT charge any fees up front. So I had nothing to lose and if successful I might save a little more money. I checked them out here on Yelp and at Better Business Bureau and saw the positive reviews. So I sent in their form. A few months later the results were in. I was shocked. Another eight percent reduction in assessed valuation. On my very modest house, this amounts to a $500 savings each year at current tax rates. In perpetuity. Their fee is one half of one year's savings for which they will send an invoice with payment due in 30 days. That's one bill I was really tickled to pay. I don't know how they do it, but they get my highest recommendation. Update 27 July 2016: Received an email that they changed their name to Property Tax Solutions effective July 1. Same address but different phone, email and website url: www.PropertyTaxSolutions.com. Don't know anything more. Update 18 April 2018: Apparently the principals of the firm I had dealt with in 2016 decided to divorce and go their separate ways and open firms under different but similar-sounding names. Greg Hilton was one of them who now does business as Property Tax Solutions at the original address. THIS is the company I would rely on. After the split I received a solicitation in October 2016 from one of the others who claimed he had represented my appeal before. I filled out their forms (acted too hastily I admit) and sent them in. Five months went by and I heard nothing. I checked the Board of Review website and found they declined the appeal. No communication from them. I am not mentioning their name here to avoid confusion - they go under a similar sounding name - but I have posted a separate review of them on Yelp. So, again, Property Tax Solutions/Greg Hilton is the company I would use again, not that "other." read more

This was my first time using an attorney that contacted me via postal mail. Was a little hesitant at first since I am sure they send out thousands of these mailers and didn't know if I would get great one on one service, but everything worked out just fine. I submitted online my agreement and gave them a call a few weeks later to confirm they got it and they acknowledged that they did and that was that. I waited about four months to see if I got a reduction in my taxes and they did. I saved about $600 on my following year tax bill. Per their agreement you pay them 50% of the savings, so I saved a net $300 for really just filling out a simple online form. To be honest I didn't really research to see if 50% of tax savings was a good deal, but everything worked out just fine. I would recommend them. read more

Total scam. I also fell for their marketing materials and signed up with them for the past triennial. I had always done my own tax protest - which is not hard to do - but thought I would see what they could do. They managed to get a minor reduction, I paid their fee and that was that. Wrong! Several months later I find out that they sell off their clients to other low life tax firms who then came after me for the fee I had already paid to Property Tax Solutions. I had to present proof of payment, etc. which I was able to do but this other firm hounded me for days. Calling me constantly with threatening messages. I tried calling Property Tax Solutions but they would never call back after leaving a message. I am not sure of what the deal is with Property Tax Solutions but good luck even finding Mr. Hilton who claims to own this company. Received via USPS a brochure claiming they could reduce property taxes. I needed to fax my information to them before the December 8, 2015 deadline. Over 2 months later I have yet to hear any word from them and I missed the deadline to file for an appeal because I left it up to them to do so. I checked on line at the assessor's office and there is no appeal listed for my address. As a senior citizen I am very disappointed that I received no assistance in this matter and no reply from this company which claims to be a BBB Accredited A+ business. read more
