I spoke with Mr. Ro a year or so ago and he was very helpful and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, I…read morewasn't positioned to afford his services and had splurged on the consult. This year, I decided to fully invest in professional services and officially set up a business so I reached out to him. Sadly, he said he was already booked up for the season. I am glad that he was upfront about that and isn't trying to overbook and under deliver. I appreciate his professionalism and will try to get my bid in early for next year.

I write this review on 4/19, with my taxes still not filed by John and no response to my emails…read more  Admittedly, I came to John with a mess of current and previous taxes. He accepted this mess graciously and I paid him $700 for his services. This was on February 15th. Since then, I have followed up with him several times over a span of several weeks, with a CC to his assistant, and have either received assurance that my taxes would be completed prior to the due date or simply no response at all.  I took a leap by trusting someone that I came across on the internet with good reviews but as I sit here filled with anxiety, I'm realizing that was a huge error in judgement.  Learn from my mistake and don't simply trust the good reviews. Do your homework and maybe stick with the larger corporations where you know the work will get done. UPDATE based on John's response: The dates provided by John are correct, however, they do not excuse an Accountant hired to complete taxes prior to the April 18th deadline failing to file said taxes. John, check your emails and you will see that all information, including the information you asked for most recently, was absolutely completed and uploaded to Dropbox. The fact that you are accepting no blame for not responding to multiple requests from a client in addition to not filing taxes by the due date is appalling considering that it's exactly what you were hired for. Regardless to any amount of refund, you didn't alert me to this until April 21st, three days after taxes were due and I had already told you that I was taking my services elsewhere. As mentioned in my final email to you, I strongly advise assessing your workload prior to accepting new clients. You knew exactly what you were agreeing to 2 months prior to the tax deadline and assured me that my taxes would be filed. Lastly, for anyone who has read this far. I am attaching a copy of John's list of excuses as to why the taxes weren't filed on time.

After reading the comments of how customer service support at the County Record of Deed is treating…read morepeople is disappointing and terribly unfair and hurtful to people trying to do the right thing, especially senior citizens who are lost and confused by not having the know how or understand technology and living on borrowed time. This scares me to know what is to be expected from one of the greatest cities in the United States. I will say my experience so far is no one has answered the phone or returned phone calls, but I have been emailing with some replies. I hope the Illinois Cook County Clerk Monica Gordon offices etc is receiving calls and emails from people. The info below was found online. I didnt have the time to post this in December 2018... but here is my complaint…read more During my journey to update a deed, I was all over the place trying to complete this task. One of my attorneys advised me to get my deed process myself because it will be cheaper and however it will time consuming. He just didn't have the time to do it. The 2nd attorney played crazy telling me that the County is all crewed up and that he will need to do a title search, etc. His quote to start is $350+. There is no need for a title search because it's been the same since I was a child. So... I chose to do it myself. I've used a variety of the Cook County (CC) services in the past to take care of business. I've been out of the mix regarding to realestate. However, I have a general idea on how abc...xyz works. I used to research and participated in several tax sales /auctions back in the day (over the counter, annual, and scavenger sales ). The confusing CC operations back in the day.... went from messed up to improvements. However, it was totally f___ up process when I was in the process of getting a deed recorded. The Cook County Recording of Deeds have the most confusing 4-page instructions posted online and it's the same documents issued in-person. The instructions are hard to read due to the layout, format, and smudges in the text. [ I can produce and display instructions more clear in one page than what they gave me]. The MYDEC process is horrible. How do the CC supervisors think that people of all ages can read the horible printed instructions? Have access to a computer and/ or know how to fill out the MYDEC application on-line? I've called the county help desk for about 10 times to complete the MYDEC application. It took me about 3 days to finish. After completing the MYDEC application, I went to get a certified copy of the water certification. When I arrived to the Department of Water location, there were people of all ages and abilities present. On that day, I encountered senior citizens who were not able to walk---one was in a wheel chair and another one used a walker. They were also being assisted by their care taker to ensure that can get around while processing their property deed and/or City of Chicago Water issues (paying for their bills, obtaining a senior discount), etc.. It is sad that they had to leave their homes/neighbors....travel downtown...to take care of their business. After that, I walked in distance from the City of Chicago Water department to the City of Chicago and to the Cook County building side (four different floors). This process was time consuming and confusing. I've talked w/ a few of the same citizens there throughout my journey. They too were not happy about all of the running-around town buildings and floors If you are going through this process, make sure that you have about a week and a full day to take care of these type of transactions. After I got everything done, the recorded deed cost me $56 As for attorney #1= I love his honesty and his recommendations even tho I traveled all over the place. Attorney #2- I deleted his number because he was trying to scam me out for a ridiculous amount of money. I also called him back...and told him that I paid $56 for everything esp when he quoted me $350+ to start. MyDEC online applications is free...(at home) WATER CERTS application process....is free. (Dep OF water) Getting the water certs copy is free. (City of Chicago Building) Getting a receipt of the package...is free. Getting things clerked=free. Getting the deed recorded = $56 bucks
