When we started wedding planning, my wife and I had a vision. As closely as possible, we wanted to…read morereplicate our family's lake house in New York. We knew we needed a place for 150 people and we knew we wanted it to be drivable for both family and friends in upstate New York and Boston.   We stumbled upon The Lake House Guest Cottages of the Berkshires after months of searching, but the only wedding we had seen hosted there was inside the main cottage. Reluctantly, we decided it was probably too small for us.   Fast forward another month.  Randomly one night, my wife and I both separately pulled up the venue again and I said, "We need to just call them. Maybe they have some grass we can put a tent on." After a couple of email exchanges, Eric, the owner, and Cory, the grounds keeper, invited us out to see the space and were instantly sold. The beautiful grounds, the stunning cottages (or as we like to call them, "mini mansions"), THE VIEW.   Not only did they have four cottages on site where guests could stay, but they also had a field where they had placed a tent for previous weddings that could hold up to 150 guests. We soon found out that over the winter months they would be adding three additional cottages for guests to stay and a seasonal tent to be used for weddings throughout the summer and fall. Needless to say, we booked it.   A couple months into planning, LHGC added a wedding coordinator to their awesome team.  We connected with Kelsey instantly, discussing plans we had made and things we had coming down the line. She was always available if we had a question or concern. Come time to do our walk through before the wedding, we laid out the entire day with the help of Kelsey and our caterer.  We walked away knowing we had the dream team on board.   When our weekend approached, all the new additions were complete and the space was more beautiful than ever. We had our rehearsal brunch Friday morning and welcome party Friday night, both of which allowed for the caterers to take full advantage of the catering kitchen in the main cottage. Kelsey and Cory were completely accommodating and there from start to finish to help with anything we needed.   Our guests arrived sporadically from Friday morning through the evening and spent time playing lawn games, kayaking and paddleboarding on the lake, and enjoying each other's company.  It was so nice to have the entire grounds at our disposal.   On our wedding day, it was just the same. Everything went off seamlessly. Kelsey and Cory were both there if something came up, made sure that set up was perfect, ran the ceremony and reception smoothly and effortlessly.   Our wedding was perfect. It was everything we could have dreamed it to be and more.   Thank you, LHGC, for welcoming us to the family!  We look forward to spending many anniversaries with you on Pontoosuc Lake!

Reviewing BHCC for their function hall/wedding accommodations. We recently got married here (on…read more9/15). From start to finish, throughout the planning process, I have to say that everything here went perfectly. Lori, their function coordinator/event planner/savior, is a godsend. She is so accommodating, flexible, patient, and organized, I couldn't have dreamed of working with anyone better. She knew what questions to ask, just anticipated our every need. We only had to meet with Lori once, in order to finalize all the little details. She is a true professional, and I can't even imagine how things would have turned out without her. The space itself is also beautiful. Having grown up in Pittsfield, I tend to take for granted the hills, foliage, and overall beauty of the area. The building itself is new (within a few years), with super high ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a great deck off the back, overlooking the golf course and mountains. I think the food was good, I barely had time to eat, as we were making table visits for much of dinner. Friends and family told us it was all good though. There was never a long line at the bar, and the staff working the wedding were always around if anyone needed anything. I would highly recommend BHCC to anyone planning a wedding out in Western MA. While not the most luxurious place in the area, what you get for your money just can't be beat. They do tend to book well in advance, so take that into consideration when deciding.

A docent by the entrance is there to tell you about it's construction and answer questions. We headed to the annex to see the animals: baby goats, lambs, piglets and chicks! The Discovery Barn is the place to be for the kids. They have a 'cow' mock-up that you can 'milk'. There are plenty of arts and craft projects there and a staff member to answer any questions. Although not a kid, I did give the cow a try and the staff member answered a bunch of questions about the museum and the local area. The Brick Dwelling has *so much* information! you could spend a lot of time in there reading about the lives of the Quakers. They also have a broom making shop, butter making shop, furniture shop, blacksmith, dorms for non-Quaker workers and so much more. We were given a map of the property with our admission and a list of events happening on site during the day of our visit. Definitely make a plan to see the demonstrations. A very interesting day.

Visual Arts, 2 Galleries, each gallery has a new show every month. They've got musical concerts of all genres. Additionally, they have their staple events such as Cabaret @the Whit, Opera Notte @the Whit, Classical Music Series @the Whit, live Comedy @the Whit, Theatrical performances, etc. They also have a wonderful discussion series: Talking Books @the Whit and Talking Arts @the Whit. Depending upon the performance, such as Cabaret, which is set up in a "Bistro" Setting, where you can order delicious light apps and beer and wine at a very reasonable prices. The Whit, also host First Fridays Artswalks' Afterparty; and now they will be hosting the official Afterparty of the Third Thursdays of PIttsfield. Our room was pet friendly and my dog enjoyed her stay. Five stars for the hotel, but I wouldn't stay here again. Pittsfield is not very nice, and stands out in an area of otherwise very nice towns. A lot of stores in town have closed down and it just has a bit of a depressing vibe.
