Stopped in on a Thursday night at 6pm for dinner. Passing through on our way to the Catskills. We were seated inside at a comfortable table , there is a big bar in the center. Cool chill lively atmosphere but not too loud. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. The baked sea scallops were delicious w crumb topping and flavorful sauce but for me a tad too salty. But still delicious. The mashed potatoes were red skin and delicious as were the side of vegetables. My husband's rib eye was excellent, he asked for it medium well but it was cooked well, but he thoroughly enjoyed it and the quality. His mashed and veggies the same as mine and enjoyed. Love the look of this rustic restaurant. We went for a late lunch on a Tuesday and there were several people there. We ordered their mulligatawny soup (delicious). I had the classic burger. It was cooked just right and the soft bun was amazing. The hubby ordered the black diamond burger. He thought it was OK but wouldn't order it again. Overpriced for the quality. I had the stuffed pepper soup while dining in on a Friday with friends and it was excellent; although, at $7.00 for a cup, it should have been excellent in my opinion. The following Monday I ordered a bowl to go for lunch at work. I paid $9.00 for the bowl of soup and a $3.00 pickup/to go charge. So, for the staggering price of $12.00, I received barely a half a bowl of soup with absolutely no rice in it. Now if you don't know, Stuffed pepper soup has ground hamburg, peppers, onions, tomatoes and rice in it. I basically paid for thinned out spaghetti sauce. They may have just not stirred the pot, but when you're paying top price ($12.00), plus a fee to drive and pickup your own lunch, I think the least they can do is make sure they stir the pot before they ladle your soup. read more

Did not have a good experience. My husband and I came on a busy night with no reservations. We waited about 5 minutes at the door with a slew of other people and never saw a hostess. So we decided to sit at the bar for food and drinks, all good. I asked for a drink menu and the bartender laughed. I took it to be like "how dare you ask for something complicated on a busy night". We ordered our drinks and they tasted good so there's a positive. We did plan to order food but weren't offered food menus for about 15 minutes despite trying to catch the gentleman's attention. At that point, we decided not to eat, pay our tab and leave. Other tables seemed to have similar experiences as I saw someone get up from their table to ask for menus after waiting for a while. This is an interesting establishment. You have a choice to either stay downstairs or go upstairs. Downstairs is much louder, plus they have entertainment most evenings. Upstairs is much quieter where larger groups can gather. We wanted to be away from the noisy crowd so we went upstairs. Great food (burger with onion rings) while spouse had a cheese quesadilla, plus beer. Several other groups were celebrating birthdays, but we were there for an anniversary meal. We asked about the turkey on the Plymouth wrap--essentiaThanksgiving in a tortilla--and was told it was cooked and carved on site, and "def not deli meat." Well, it absolutely was. Was the wrap inedible, no. But definitely didnt like playing nearly $20 for a cold-cut deli meat wrap, esp after being assured this was exactly what it was not. New England clam chowder, and jambalaya soup were both excellent, but a large order of their wings came out way to overcooked, and a real disappointment, they could have excelled if they would not have been so hard from overcooking. Low quality meat and the steak was undersalted. However, this is the perfect place to use A1 steak sauce. Green beans and fries were bland but edible. Overall the food is pretty good for a small town without much competition. At this price point and location, you can't expect too much as far as food goes. The food was mediocre. What made us unhappy was the rude service. Our waitress Jen was not a happy person. We were trying to have a nice relaxing night despite Jen's attitude. The Freight Yard has never been a bargain, but at least in the past the food has been at least decent. It was never exceptional, but it has gone done in quality in inverse proportion to the rising prices. The wings are terrible, half cooked, with a bit of sauce sloshed over them to add flavor. At $18 for a dozen they are highway robbery. The burgers are still good, but they come at steak prices. The biggest disappointment were the onion rings and fries. Good lord folks, learn to operate a deep fryer! Both the rings and fries were soggy with grease, lukewarm and inedible. There are better options in North County. And far less expensive. read more

Freight Yard was one of the few restaurants around that would seat us outdoors on a dreary cold (~30F) night. Loved our waitress, who was so friendly and super accommodating in opening up the covered patio for us. It turned out to be a great decision; while walking through the indoor area of the restaurant, we noticed that it was PACKED, and while there were plastic dividers, the overall proximity of tables to each other made us feel uncomfortable. Not all staff were properly masked (ie noses not covered). We had the entire outdoor seating area to ourselves due to the unpleasant weather. I would not have felt safe eating indoors, especially as our group was not fully vaccinated at the time. Our party thought the food was pretty decent. Cobb Salad was gigantic and filling. The French Onion Soup Burger wasn't great -- kind of mushy with an ehh flavor. They claim to have the best burgers in the Berkshires, so maybe order a "normal" burger instead. Fajitas were executed pretty well, but hard to beat the Tex-Mex I'm used to from growing up in Texas. We really liked our wings (a good value at 12 for $13 and super tasty) and the Cookie Skillet with ice cream and whipped cream. Good spot if you're passing through and looking for pub food. Their outdoor area is quite pretty if the weather is good enough to take advantage of it. I'd avoid the crowded indoor seating if you're cautious, at-risk, or not fully vaccinated. read more

The pub has 3 IPAs I recommend the sloop juice it's an IPA and very citrusy green hop drink another one is the PBR it is light beer.They have amazing wings I recommend them they are very delicious and come with blue cheese and ranch sauce or you pick one.The black diamond is what I recommend it has a lot of umami it has soy sauce and the bread is delicious.I also recommend the western burger it has BBQ sauce and bacon and onion rings. The place is lovely and rustic. Friday night had live music, a plus. I chose the steak tips which I was a little disappointed in. The teriyaki was very salty for my liking buy had a lot of flavor. Fries were also very salty but otherwise tasty. I didn't finish my meal so I decided on dessert. Cheesecake for me and apple pie for friend. Both delicious. Found FreIght Yard Pub & Restaurant on YELP, which has never let us down! Upon entering, Sean, one of the owners greeted us heartily at the door. Asked where we are from, and found that we were former town "neighbors'" in Connecticut. We had a very pleasant and attentive server, Melissa, who gave us great recommendations when we asked. The beer board wasn't overwhelming but I couldn't decide, so Melisa brought 2 samples. We both chose the Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale. Great choice! The soup of the day was a chicken curry that was full of chicken and delicious! My husband had the NE clam chowder which he also enjoyed. We both ordered the Apple Walnut salad which was so big, I asked for a box before I even started to take half home. We asked for crispy fries and got soggy fries now served in a small metal container. My Ruben had barely any meat in in and I showed the waitress. She apologized but did not do anything to fix it.
