During an early 2025 trip to Washington, D.C., we went to multiple establishments and, coincidentally or not, encountered this specific bourbon and just loved it. The most notable occurrence was at Jack Rose Dining Saloon, where I had literally the best Old-Fashioned I've ever had, using a special Angel's Envy that hung out in some sherry barrels for a while. Since then, we've both regularly ordered it when given the opportunity, and ultimately decided that the best way to appreciate this fine spirit was to go right to the source. So to the mothership we went. My chum did most of the heavy lifting here and scheduled a bourbon tour with Louisville Food Tours (very strong recommend) that featured Angel's Envy at the first stop. It's hard to really put into words what this building looks like as you walk in and explore, but it's just so...nice. It's classy without being inaccessible, and it just felt like a true cathedral of bourbon. As tasteful as the bourbon it makes. During our initial tour, we were probably in the distillery for a solid half hour plus, getting a quick tour of the still and fermenters before being led into a side room on the second floor to formally taste some bourbon. Paula was our guide, both during this tour and later on, and was just enormously impressive, which I touched upon in my review of the official tour as well. She's no-nonsense and loves her bourbon - who can't relate? We learned how to inspect the bourbon in the glass, to take a test sip to numb the pain receptors and to truly appreciate the subtle notes in the bourbon with the second sip. It was legitimately helpful, useful information that we're both going to utilize going forward. After our three-hour tour ended (go hard or go home), it wasn't even much of a discussion - we came back here for a few hours to soak in more of the atmosphere and drink some more bourbon. At this point, it was probably close to 5ish but the place was still pretty busy; somehow we were able to secure spots at the bar upstairs and made ourselves at home. I wish I could remember the name of our bartender (blame the time that has elapsed, not the bourbon), but he was very good, social without being oppressive and was just present and let us do our thing. After sipping straight bourbon for most of the afternoon, I switched to the Bourbon Renewal, which you'll be shocked to know includes Angel's Envy but is a more summer, fruit-forward cocktail and super refreshing. Was the right call and hit the spot. (We also got waters because that's the responsible thing to do.) We finally went back downstairs to the gift shop, which doesn't feel like the right term - it was more majestic than something you'd walk into after going through, say, a museum for an hour or two. It's enormous and offers numerous bourbons and also some very high quality swag. We reunited with our chum Paula and sampled their limited edition two-grain, which was created due to a fortunate mistake in which the rye wasn't added so it's just the corn and malted barley. You CAN see the difference and taste it; to me at least, it's more caramel-y than their normal single barrel. We each bought a bottle to bring back to the homeland. My chum basically bought half the store, but I remained calm/deliberate and my only other purchase was a MAGNIFICENT black hoodie. I'm not kidding - I love hoodies and have probably owned dozens over the years, and this is literally the best quality one I've had. It has this interesting front pouch pocket design with like a pocket within the pocket for high-priority items like your ID or credit cards, and the hood itself is interesting. It's just really good and I wore it all day the next day as we slowly made our way back to the East Coast. It's been washed and carefully placed in my closet, where it will reign supreme when the weather inevitably turns nippy again. It's not an exaggeration to say we probably spent hundreds of dollars (at least not thousands) directly and indirectly involving Angel's Envy on this trip. Worth it.

Very willing to help make the event special and help you make your event the way you want it. Everyone was very friendly. The facility has multiple different areas to utilize for tour event. And stairwells on multiple sides of building, which can be useful. In this case, my sister was able to go from the basement (where the dressing rooms are) all the way up two floors to the top floor (where the ceremony was) without anyone on the first or second floor seeing her. Very useful! I'm told the stairwells connect everything throughout the building, so you can move around the whole facility without anyone seeing you, if need be- useful in this case for sure. The DJ was great. The planning team was great. We loved the dance floor area and the bar was very nice and sleek. There is ample parking around the building. It takes a second to find but it's useful. And for your photos before and after a wedding, there are lots of good area nearby. There are a few parks within a black and lots of great spots along Spring St. My family definitely has no complaints about this venue!

It was a Sunday afternoon. Upon arrival there were red velvet ropes going into the venue with our pictures displayed on placards, a nice touch. We used the upstairs space, the Loft which has 2 seat high top tables, 8 top round tables, couch settings for 6 to 8 folks scattered throughout the space. It probably can accommodate 100 to 120 folks. It is so professionally decorated with beautiful flower arrangements, tableclothes, gold placemats and creative, fun wall decor. We were able to hook our phone, with our playlist to their speakers via Bluetooth. The space is elegant and could not be more perfect for a festive gathering. We opted to use one of their caterers who offered a charcuterie board in addition to a selection of 4 additional appetizers. The charcuterie board included the following: Watermelon, Strawberries, Pineapple, Grapes Prosciutto, Pepperoni Broccoli, Carrots, Celery. Gherkins, Cucumbers Olives, Ranch, Fruit Dip Vegetable, Ham and Turkey Pinwheels Chicken Salad in Miniature Cups W/ Crackers Pepperjack Cheese, Smoked Gouda, Extra Sharp Cheddar, and Colby Jack Cheese Assorted crackers. We opted for meatballs, Benedictine sandwiches, quiche and turkey sliders as our 4 appetizers in assition to the charcuterie selections. The food was good. Couple of issues, the food was late being put out, they were still setting it up when our guest started arriving. I paid for food for 100 people, we had 80 guests and there was not much food leftover. If all 100 guest would have attended I fear we would have run out of food and that was disappointing. We were also told there would be a microphone for our use but it was not working and not available for our use. My daughter did the planning but it was pretty straight forward. The bar area is well-designed and accommodated our crowd without creating bottlenecks. They also have a great setup for live entertainment - the band had plenty of space and sounded amazing. With the wedding day scheduled for a Saturday, the bridal party and groomsmen were able to leave gowns, beauty products, suits, and overnight bags in our rooms the Friday before upon completing the rehearsal. This allowed for an easy situation to walk in to on the morning of the wedding as we prepared for the ceremony later that afternoon. The house was built in the mid 1800s and has been kept within the family since then. The current owners, Kim and Chaz, take great pride in the house and were extremely accommodating towards our group. They were on hand throughout Saturday to answer any questions. As a history nerd, I loved speaking with them more on the history of the house and the surrounding gardens (that were stunningly beautiful in September) as I snuck a cigarette on the back porch during the reception. When the bride & groom booked the venue, they were also able to secure accommodations for the bridal party. Considering that all five of the bridesmaids live over an hour away, it made for the perfect place to crash post reception. Our two flower girls had a ball exploring the house and spent the night as well with no problem. To top off the magical wedding weekend, Kim and Chaz prepared coffee and breakfast on Sunday morning for the guests that spent the night. I highly recommend considering Midlane Farm as a special events venue. The service we received certainly deserves five stars!

I spoke to a Fred who was so very sweet and nice. However, Glen likes to price gouge. He reminds me of a used car salesman and not a very nice one. Glen tells me that there is a large lighted dance floor that I will have to pay for to use. That was not there when I signed my contract and paid for the venue. So I told him that I did not want to use it and he proceeds to tell me that I either pay to rent it or pay to have it removed if I did not want to use it,. REALLY?? THEN, I pay Glen an extra $500 to rent the hall on Friday so I can setup for the wedding on Saturday. He then tells me that his assistant "accidentally" made a same day event for a wake on my Friday and instead of telling them that he made an error and give back their money, he tells me that he cant tell them to cancel because he would feel so bad cancelling on a wake. Guess what, it wasn't a wake after all, it was a birthday party!!! Yes I got my money back but the stress of it all and the lies, had me looking for other places to rent because if one ore thing happened... I was done. Luckily nothing happened on our wedding day but the months leading up to it were awful and stressful because of this DJ. He has a reputation, just ask around. lol He is also banned from the main Louisville KY wedding site on FB due to bad business practices. AVOID if you can. It's a little hard to find since you have to drive through a subdivision to get to the entrance, but once inside it is nicely secluded from the outside world. The Gardens at Ray-Eden are beautiful gardens that can be rented out for special occasions. There were lots of flowers in bloom and the plants and trees are all well cared for. There is a main house that belongs to the owner, and is off limits to guests, but there were bathrooms and a bridal suite attached to the garage, which was very convenient. The owner was very friendly and stopped by several times to make sure that everything was going okay, although I was a little disappointed that his name wasn't Ray Eden. I suspect that weddings are their bread and butter, but I'm certain it they would work for any outdoor special occasion. They also have a large covered pergola, which stood us in very good stead since we had quite a rain shower come through during the ceremony. Although the remote location and subdivision are small negatives, I found the Gardens at Ray-Eden to a be delightful place to hold a wedding or any medium to large outdoor gathering.
