It's true, the taproom is officially opened again. They are still working out kinks but, that's ok. My friend and I are elated that it's opened again and that Parlour is no more. Parlour moved to Lynn Family Stadium and after our not so great experiences, that's perfectly ok. The taproom has been opened for about a month or 2 now. They are coming along slowly but surely. They will have a Venezuelan restaurant going in next door. The few times my friend and I have been back we have encountered Brody, bartender/taproom manager. He has been awesome every visit and is really passionate about this place. We can't wait to see what he does next. We hope more gaming machines and Silent Disco, we loved when they had Silent Disco years back. Our go to is the Pilsner, hopefully they can get a liquor license to bring back bourbon for an Old and Cold one like the old days. They have a good selection of beer here like before. Once again my friend and I are elated this place is back, it's not the same but, the vibe feels right. We had a hard time adjusting to other places before this taproom reopened. I however wish Bandido would come back but, that's a whole different story. As For Brody, we can't wait to see what else he has in store for this place. We love Brody. read more

Bummed because we were looking forward to stopping by here since we like Hipster Repellent but we're underwhelmed on our visit. Would this place about 2.5 stars rather than 2, if I were able to. The place itself was nice and lots of seating. We visited when there wasn't really that many people. We visit breweries frequently in different states and will say their staff was not as warm and didn't seem to want to be there (maybe they just started their shift ‍). Tried to order the Pink Miata Weather and the Pilsner but both were out. Odd because it's Wednesday and they told us if you come back Friday and they should have their Pilsner. If the Pilsner is your best seller why wouldn't you have more? They said we could do cans but opted to try something else that was okay. Who wants to do cans if you visit a brewery - typically you want a draft?! From a marketing perspective they had Sweater Weather (which is not bad) but it's hot as heck outside and that's year round on tap. ‍ We were going to try their pizza but that beer experience threw us off so went elsewhere to grab a bite. read more

Stopped into Falls City Brewing for a quick drink and ended up staying for over an hour. We didn't try the food from their partner, Parlour Pizza, but we did sample a few beers: the Falls City Light, LouCity, and the traditional Pilsner. If you're into IPAs, I'd recommend the LouCity -- it has hop-forward profile without being overpowering. That said, I'm not that into hoppy beer and the standout for us was the classic Pilsner. Crisp, clean, and easy to drink -- definitely our favorite of the bunch. The bartender was great -- super friendly and happy to talk about the beers, which always adds to the experience. That said, the overall vibe was a little off. It was a Saturday and the place was completely dead. We sat outside in what I'd call a beer garden, but we were the only ones there for over an hour. It just felt oddly quiet for a weekend. The outdoor space also looked like it needed a bit of attention -- some trash around, a patio umbrella lying on the ground, and just an overall need for a quick cleanup. Another small surprise: the gift shop/merch area was closed, which seemed like a missed opportunity on a weekend when people are more likely to stop in and potentially grab something. All in all, not a bad experience by any means -- the beer and service were solid -- but it felt like the place had more potential than what we saw. We really enjoyed their place and definitely return. The casual atmosphere was great and the service staff were all very nice. The pizza was pretty solid and was $21 for a 14". We also had the sweet bbq wings. They were very well flavored and super tender. They were also a good size. However, the cam out warm when they should have better hot (I mean actual temp not spice). On the night we went the temps outside were in the 70's and they were playing the new Hocus Pocus movie which I thought was pretty cool. The inside is decorated pretty cool and the bar is located inside the back door, down the stairs and around the corner. The bartender was super nice each time we requested additional beers. We had the cider and the sour and both were awesome. The don't serve food so we had pizza delivered from a pizza place nearby. We sat outside on picnic tables but they did have chairs around a fire element someone else was using. If I lived locally this would be a go to spot for me! The Kitchen at Falls City Brewing Co. probably isn't going to win any major culinary awards but the fries are really the perfect consistency of a crunchy outside and a soft inside. And the smash burger's patty has a great char-grill taste with the right amount of saltiness to it which is nicely complemented with the special sauce that's served on the side. I enjoyed my food and beverages in the beer garden because it was a beautiful afternoon but the inside is also a great place to enjoy a draft beer with two friends or twenty (maybe call ahead if you've got 20 others joining you, they might want to set you up with the side room ). I love that Falls City always offers up a wide variety of craft beers. If you're a hophead, there's the Hipster Repellent IPA but there's also a solid classic Pilsner, smoked beer, golden ale, Kölsch, stout, and more that rotate through. My chief complaint with the Falls City - Bandido complex in Phoenix Hill is that I don't live on this block. My second complaint is that the patio needs a 40-foot tree. And that's about all I've got for complaining. The brewery's appeal is only slightly dampened by its super-close proximity to several other really good options, but I do really like the beer. Their flagship ale is no replica of the postwar macrobeer that dominated the local landscape, and the brewers here are always putting out something else worth trying. I'll also point out that this is actually my third review of Falls City. About 6 or 7 years ago, they operated a tap room on Barret. Then a few years later they were sharing a bigger space on 10th with Old 502 Winery. With each iteration, they've upped their game. I dunno if we've reached peak-Falls City, but if they stick around here, I'll be happy. Especially if they plant that big tree for the patio. read more

Stopped here on a day of exploring the cities breweries! My dad always talked about Falls City from his childhood, so was fun to see how it has progressed! Great location to downtown, we walked from Market street, enjoyed a flight and a pint after! Really loved everything and the wonderful outdoor seating! Bartender was very interesting too! Beer is ok. Space is great! I have visited Falls City a few times and, although I don't particularly love any of their beers, I have enjoyed myself each time! They have a large, welcoming, dog-friendly patio that I have enjoyed with my friends. Inside, the building is also huge! Plenty of seating in different areas. I love the industrial-ish feel of the space. They have some oversized bar games. Think, like, jenga with pieces of 2x4"s and giant connect four. I believe they host some concerts and events as well. You could spend several hours here, sipping on some beers and hanging out with folks. I am taking one star off because I couldn't tell you a single one of their beers that really sticks out to me. I don't have a driving need to return here often, but if someone suggests it, I am certainly always game! I like the space and I like getting to keep good company with beer in a cool place. read more

I don't know that this is the best brewery in the city, but it's gotta be in the conversation. Their regular beers are all pretty dang solid. Big fan of the pilsner and the Street Lamp. The Street Lamp is really delicious, in fact. I went on a brewery tour, where they talked about how they make the beer, but also discussed the history of Falls City itself, how Falls City used to be a major player in the beer world once upon a time. They even discussed how Falls City fell from graces in the 70s, and when it was dormant in the 90s. Pretty neat, honestly. Look. These guys know what they're doing. And they're all super friendly. Furthermore, the drinking room is gorgeous. Whoever they hired to refurbish their building did it correctly. Very cozy and welcoming. I could easily see myself spending hours up there just chatting and having a good time with friends. Once the food goes in next door, that is going to be a game changer for this place. Went here about 2 weeks ago just for some drinks before a soccer game. I usually don't like to leave bad reviews but the bartender really hit a nerve. There were 2 bartenders, one was clearly training and the other was experienced. Every time the training bartender would ask for help, the experienced one would very clearly express her frustration or roll her eyes. I've worked in the restaurant industry before so I understand how hard and frustrating it is to train someone in this atmosphere. The problem I had was that the experienced one was talking bad about the girl training to her co workers where everyone at the bar (myself, my boyfriend, and another man sitting a few seats down) could hear her. It made us all super uncomfortable and the man a few seats down pulled the training girl aside and told her she was doing great. She wasn't even doing anything wrong, would just do something and then ask the trainer if she was doing it correctly. We ended up leaving after 1 beer simply because we didn't want to have to hear the trainer say anything else. Kindness and respect goes along way these days and clearly the trainer doesn't care about either. The beer I had was decent though and my boyfriend said his was okay as well. read more

Took a tour of several breweries in Nu Lu with fellow Yelp Elites and one stop was Falls City Brewery. I loved the place! I had the refreshing original 1920's FC Brew, on a super warm day was on point. Inside you will find a couple tv's, games of many types along with history of how FC became iconic. On the outside of this fun new facility with a great patio where they were barbecuing briskets which had a aroma that made my mouth water. Picnic tables with large umbrellas. On site parking as well as street parking. Out back near the patio you can witness through large windows the brewing process. Great place to take a guest especially out of town to show off some of Louisville's brewery history. read more

Went on opening night, so understanding of opening night roughness.... Bricks and Mortar Good location just a couple of blocks off of Nulu. Tons of space, very open and warm. Couches looked like some super comfy spots for some suds. Wide variety of types of tables/sizes. Plenty of seating. Decent sized L shaped bar as the centerpiece. TVs scattered around the building, but all in the main bar area were too small for the room. I understand not wanting to be a Sports Bar, but this is LOUISVILLE, and video displays would be more effective at 40"+. We were debating the size and think those are 32s. Even one bigger TV in the main bar. Sure, I'm there for the beer and comradeship....but if a big game is on it's nice to be able to see it w/o squinting. Huge outdoor patio w plenty of picnic tables, fire pit, and food truck parking. Personnel It felt like there were four or five bartenders (or staff of some kind) behind the bar, yet just one line existed for beers unless you were sitting at the bar proper. This made for almost a 20m wait to get beer. It limited me to one flight as I didn't want to wait in line again (and the cans they had for sale weren't kept in ice, so were getting warm). If they were really sold on the "line for beer" process, then opening night needed at least one more "line." Didn't see a manager walking around greeting people like one would think for a Grand Opening. Beers (best for last) A couple of their beers I think are pretty tasty. Hipster Repellent is a solid IPA, and having it on draft was nice for a change. The Impoaster (imperial oatmeal stout) was a solid stout. Smooth and inviting much like the brewery's interior. I didn't care for the APA (Opening Day) or the Porter (Streetlamp). With twelve taps they have great opportunity to rotate different brews in for those that don't make it. Growler fills are also available, which is always a good option to have for carry out. I'd like to be able to give this place 3.5-3.75 stars as i see a ton of potential here, and I know it takes time for every place to get its feet. I look forward to checking it out again and seeing how they improve/editing this review. Definitely worth the flight if you're in town! read more

Having been an avid beer collector for 50+ years, we were excited to have a chance to stay over a night in Louisville and visiting Falls City was at the top of our list. We booked a room a few blocks away at a Home2Suites so we could walk over and drink all we liked. We stopped in the beer garden around 5:00pm on Friday May 9th. There was only one other couple in the whole place. We waited for quite a while in a deserted bar before a woman showed up and poured us our beers. We inquired about purchasing a shirt or sweatshirt and was told the brewery gift shop isn't open Friday, Saturday or Sunday, and closes early afternoon the rest of the week (what a missed merchandising opportunity). When I went back in for a refill, the bartender was missing again and there was quite a line of irritated customers waiting for someone to shop up. The only person that was working seemed to be this super young girl running around with pizzas. She said she couldn't pour us beers. Once the actual bartender finally showed up again, she had a pretty crappy attitude, and it certainly echoed throughout the place. We went in for a third round and met the same circumstances. After finally waiting for the bartender to show up again, I just grabbed two cans of beer from the cooler and threw a $10 on the counter. We went back in a while later and tried to pay the tab and couldn't find anyone once again. So we simply left. The whole experience there was a complete disappointment. As a small business owner myself, I know how hard it is to earn new customers and retain the loyal ones. The staff at FCB didn't seem to get it. We would have spent a whole lot of $$ there if they had a staff that cared about the business. read more

Apparently, my opinions on beer aren't informed. However, they have a nice facility and a room to let for events, which is nice. The staff here is very professional and quick. During warmer months they have a lovely beer garden outside - where the world's most picked on people (smokers) can congregate. This place is also rocket quick to clean up a spill. read more

Falls City's taproom is shaping up to be one of the best in the city. And given the rate at which new breweries are opening -- that's saying something. Falls City Brewing has a long bar and great indoor space, which boasts couches to relax in as well as tables. There are places to sit in the middle of the action as well as booths that are a bit off to the side in case you want some space and time to yourself. Out back is a beautiful patio, just off the parking lot, with plenty of tables. And now there's food as well with the addition of Bandido Taqueria. This is the type of taproom where you can celebrate with a group, enjoy a date or work on a laptop (there's Wi-Fi as well). And the beer -- I feel like I'm still getting to know it, though I'm liking it more and more. I admit; I was not a fan of the first few Falls City beers I had. But the Good Times Ginger Lime Shandy and Zuko Nitro Stout stand out. And I appreciate that they have fun with beer. HipsterFest, inspired I believe by their Hipster Repellent IPA, makes me chuckle. Falls City is a solid option for a fun time while enjoying good beer. read more

I visited Falls city for the first time during the weekend. It's a great brewery. There were multiple drink selections and it's dog friendly. There were games and plenty of tables so you could hang out there for a while. This is in a cute location. This brewery is right next to a mexican restaurant and coffee shop. Wow. First time in the taproom! I am married to a BCCA Member who has a longtime love of Falls City Beer and Breweriana! He was awed by the historical chalk barback items. Historical and modern flair make this a really unique and comfy place to try some brews. Like most youngish hipster bars in the NULU area, if you have arthritis, are over 50, and looking for comfortable seating, you won't find it here. It's the typical metal seats without an ounce of comfort. Youngsters don't notice these things! My max ability to sit is 2 hours. But if you gave me a comfy seat, I might just stay all day! We watched the U of L game, tried a number of beers, and we picked up a case of beers to take home. There is a great taco place, Bandido next door with excellent food. You can order there and bring over to the bar and eat there. Perfect combo of fantastic beer and delicious tacos! I love the porter they had with notes of vanilla, and a fruit beer that wasn't real fruity but a hint of sweet. And of course the Pilsner Falls City is just so excellent!! So happy to spend time here! Will be back for sure!! I can picture many afternoons spent here. The outdoor garden area is pretty awesome too!! read more

A sweet little brewery with lots of character and good beers. I am not familiar with Falls City but it seems to have lots of history in the area. We only stopped in to try a few beers and be on our way. Bartenders were super nice and the place was super cool. They are attached to a taco joint so if you need some food you do not have to go far. It was a Saturday evening and it wasn't very busy which was good for us. It was uncommon for me but in Louisville I noticed most all breweries had liquor. Being in bourbon country it's probably mandatory. The beers were not anything out of this world but definitely easy to drink. I did try a porter and a stout and was very pleased with the taste. They did have a great little merchandise area if you wanted to pick up a shirt, hat, glass, etc.. They do keep the beers rotating so I would definitely be back to visit in the future. read more

We didn't try many of their beers, but the one I ended up drinking was soooo delicious! It was an old Ale called KY By N By. It was really something special. I'd go back to Louisville just to have another glass. My boyfriend had an IPA, he said it was good too! The customer service was great as well. We had interactions with two different employees and both were really friendly. We really liked the building and atmosphere too. They had some board games and giant Jenga. The giant Jenga happened to fall down while we were in there, without anyone playing it or touching it, and it scared the bejesus out of me lol. Good times. Anyways, I'd recommend stopping in. No food, but there is a small Mexican restaurant next door (although I personally am not a fan of the food). I'm a big fan of this new Falls City Brewing Co. Taproom location. We visited shortly after their opening, and I instantly fell in love. Falls City has craft beer and an awesome space to hang out and/or host events. They have a great bar, plenty of seating, and an outdoor beer garden. We tried the Downtown Brown, Opening Day APA, Rope-A-Dope, Mammoth, and Impoaster. Everything was great, but my favorites at this point are probably the Impoaster, which is an imperial oatmeal stout, and the Rope-A-Dope, which is a barrel-aged imperial vanilla porter. Once you have a beer in hand it's time to experience the beer garden. This space is lovely! It's set up out back with plenty of seating, a fire pit, and lots of string lights. They also host food trucks out back, so if you're hungry you'll be able to grab some food as well. I cannot recommend Falls City Brewing Co. Taproom enough. Definitely go check it out! I loved the atmosphere here and only wished it was warmer outside so I could enjoy the patio. They did have a fire but I wasn't in the mood to be out in the cold. They were very nice holiday decorations which made the place feel festive. I enjoyed trying a beer flight and they had a few interesting beers on tap, especially the sour. I felt like the bartender was just anxious to close and get home so we didn't feel very welcomed by her. However, I had a great experience once I met another one of the workers sitting at a table with his family. He was very friendly and helped turn around the impression I had from the bartender. read more
