Have a 1998 Lexus that was having a electrical issue between the speed sensor and the control module and the ECM. I took it to ProTrans for a diagnostic of the electrical between the speed sensors, the PCM, and the ECM, and check the ECM for a short if applicable . After a fewdays I was told the transmissiom was bad and needed a new one, and charged $190 for the diagnosis. I had to do other work that required dropping of the sub frame and had already another transmission so I took it home and did it myself since I am also a mechanic but cant do electrical well and took the diagnosis at face value. Low and behold, new transmission, same issue, not mechanical but electrical. Called ProTrans and was told that they diagnosed the transmission not the electrical. :-( So first they tried to sell me a $2500 transmission I did not need. Thats dirty. Second did a $190 diagnostic on the mechanical which I did not request that AAMCO does for free. Third wanted another $190 to start to re-diagnose the electrical which they should of done the first time. So long story short after a grip load of cash switching out a good transmission on another good one based on their bad diagnosis, I am back to square one. And they will not stand behind their work or diagnostic assessment or coreect the issue without more money. Really, how much does a good diagnosis really cost? Just saying. Never again, and I will let people I know, know when I am asked where to get work done and not to go there. Not cool trying to sell $2500 in unneeded repairs read more

I went to Protrans based on reviews from Yelp. My transmission was having problems that were difficult to figure out to say the least. I was extremely pleased with Michael and his staff, They went way out of their way to make sure my transmission problems were fixed. It took several visits to get it right again and each time Michael was great and even giving me rides home or picking me up. I highly recommend Protrans for you transmission or auto repairs. Hands down the best place to take your vehicle! I highly recommend Pro Trans, Sandy is such a pleasure at the front desk. They treat you like family, not just customers. I recently took in both my van and my truck to get fixed, and they made it seamless for me. I was able to drop off my truck, they fixed it, then drop off my van after. They are truly genuine and both vehicles are doing great! My wife came here about a year ago for her Nissan versa, and they fixed it and I came for my van once before. So this was our 4th time using them, and each time is great! Unfortunately I had to give at least 1 star. This business claims to be able to service all automobile issues, buyer be wary! Took an 08 Nissan Altima coupe with a CVT transmission (worst design ever), Protrans claimed to do rebuilds on said trans. They don't inform the customer that they DO NOT do the rebuild, but subcontract out to a person/company that cannot be found on any internet search or business search. Mechanic's do shoddy work, do not thoroughly go through their work and make sure things are secured or tightened to specs, forget to replace parts taken off, and make false claims when they damage parts when servicing the vehicle. Given example, mechanic claimed that I had oil in the spark plug tubes, when in fact, the alternator quit working and engine was running on battery only, something that took 2 minutes to figure out once vehicle was returned. Highly advise to seek service elsewhere, as when they are called out on their mistakes, respond with rudeness and hostility. Have been fighting with them for almost a year now, and they had possession of vehicle close to 8 months trying to supposedly repair transmission, which in fact they were just replacing with used ones from a local salvage yard they frequently do business with,, hhhmmmmmm. Currently in litigation with BCA and soon small claims for their inability to perform the job they claim to be able to do. read more

I took my truck in for servicing and it turns out that it needed a whole new engine. I was quoted a certain price and a certain time frame of completion. On the day that that they had quoted me that my truck was going to be ready, i CALLED THEM to ask if my truck was ready, the representative told me that they had ordered my replacement engine but the one they received was in bad shape. You would think it would be a better customer experience if they informed me of this inconvenience when they discovered it rather than waiting for ME to call them. So I waited a few more days (because they had quoted me a few more days of work to receive and install the engine). Once again, I CALLED THEM to ask if my truck was ready and once again... it was not ready at the time that they had told me. This time i was a little upset because I was paying for a rental car and it was getting kind of expensive. Finally my truck was ready (almost a month later) and when i came to pay, they charged me more than what they had quoted me to begin with WITHOUT GIVING ME ADVANCE NOTICE. So i paid and I asked the representative if I could leave my truck there for the day because I had to go to work and return the rental car and the rep actually said "can you park it out on the street? We only have 6 parking spaces". Wow... the customer service at this place is horrible. I will never do business with Protrans again. read more

Life savers. After running around town 5 or 6 different places they were referred and Sandy at front desk (who should be a mechanic, knows about cars) put me at ease. Talked to a tech Mark he took my car for a spin, knew what was wrong and my car found a new repair shop. Mike breaks down to the bolt explaining the issue. Sandy has a place she can call if you want or need to rent a car. They will drop you off and pick you up at the Hertz rental. They will not rush to fix your vehicle, they treat your car as if it was their personal car. Will only do the work that is necessary and if something else is needed will call you first. Great Experience! We were recommended Protrans from AAA. I had a huge bolt in my tire and I went here to get my tire patched. The owners Michael and Sandee are very genuine and hospitable. The place is very clean, smells great and even have keurig coffee machine in the waiting room. I went here to get my tire patched and a few days later I received a handwritten thank you note from them, very rare these days. Please do yourself a favor and do not take your vehicle to this shop. I wrote out a review on google of detailed issues we've had with them . Mike told me several times he would compensate the money for the headers they cracked on my truck. He had me look up part numbers to replace them twice. They never bought them, sent them or contacted me to say they didn't feel responsible after 2 months of me reaching out to HIM. Final time talking to him he said said he would pay half ($160) and the check was getting sent in the mail. This is not a honest company. They are not here for your best interest or way of getting back on the road based on your budget. I believe in total I spent about $2,700 here and about $1,200 in fixing everything they damaged. It takes A Lot for me to finally leave a bad review on a shop . I'm sure they can manage to do basic maintenance but besides that I would not trust this shop ever again. Unless they contact me within a month I will be contacting the better business bureau and hope anyone else that has seen the real side of this shop does the same. read more

Buyer beware. These guys are the classic automotive sleazeballs. Never bring your vehicle to this repair shop. Classic tricks to induce early vehicle aware and cars other vehicle malfunctions. Act August 31 I brought my 2013 Chevy SilveradoIn for a transmission rebuild Mike told me the 25,000 mile warranty or two years. I got the truck back into days after surprise being told that it would be five. A month after I noticed transmission leakage coming from the transmission line after taking a look underneath the vehicle and noticed that the transmission lines were no longer supported securely. Which caused excessive movement and the lines to leak charge me $100 to fix the issue and I had to return to days later as the hose clamp is never tightened. After getting my vehicle back they had no codes or check engine light when they let them attempt to repair the transmission. When they returned it they Musta had five codes first thing I noticed the gas cap I had was brand new and they had replaced that second thing I noticed after viewing underneath the vehicle the O2 sensor was unplugged which was fastened to the chassis Tucktaway and hidden. There was a brown piece of paper folded in neatly woven directly underneath my radiator they also removed the fuel pump a and B fuses. Not to mention when I brought the vehicle back which I hated to do even though it was under warranty. Every time they could get their hands on it it was something else. Anyways he made sure to start the vehicle while the vehicle was 8 feet in the air and idled it for 15 minutes in the heat. These are all very classic tricks to heat the transmission my transmission failed right away I noticed by the time I could get it back it completely failed at 24,500 miles which I thought I was still under warranty turns out it was 24,000. Mike told me we thought you would get a little more out of it then that. So he replaced a torque converter and another( gasket kit ) this is his master kit rebuild. You guys are jokes and will take it vantage of anybody be careful do not go to the shop you will regret it. After Returning the vehicle in a state that is capable to shift first second third and fourth gear transmission Ran 2000 miles after it failed again. Took my car to my regular mechanic and he said I needed a re-built transmission. Since he does great minor work I wanted a second opinion so I found proteans here and saw the good reviews so I gave them a try. To diagnose the car they needed it for 1/2 a day so as luck would have it that was my day off so no biggie. Came back said it was the clutch, mind you I have 180,000 miles and have never replaced it, so I decided to go ahead with it. After looking at it when it was apart the noise I was hearing were the bearings inside and they suggested I change those in the transmission as well. The owner even drove me to the car rental place. Work was done on time and to my expectations. From the lady at the desk who answered my calls to the owner everyone was friendly and I did not feel like I was being taken advantage of. read more

I love this shop.Since McNairs Auto Service closed down this is my new go to shop. I have been there several times. I found them through AAA website. They are close to my house. Its a good family owned business. I had a speed wobble going over 60 MPH I figured it was a tire balance issue. I swung by on my way home. They took me in right away. Michael took me into the back and showed me my tire was separated. All I can say is Thank You Jesus it didn't blow and cause an accident. They took good care of me. Was very disappointed with the service I got! Spoke with Sandra over the phone about bringing my car in for a timing chain replacement. She was not very helpful and claimed she could not give me a quote over the phone! Most mechanics I have ever been to will at least give you a quote before taking it in. She claimed I would need to bring the car in FIRST before determining a price. Then she claimed there would be a $100 charge just for bringing it in! What a ripoff!!!! These folks fixed a shifting problem with my truck that another mechanic misdiagnosed. The problem is finally fixed. I aso had transmission service done and new brakes front and rear. They use quality parts, their prices are honest and fair and these are trustworthy people. The shop, waiting room and restroom are clean and the staff are all very friendly. Coming from the perspective of a college student at UCR.. The head technician Mike is a great guy and when it comes down to it, THEY FIX YOUR CAR. There is no funny business or shadiness about this place which is what a lot of car owners worry about when taking it to a auto technician.
