We're trying to restore how the house might have looked at the beginning of the 20th century after countless bad decisions & poor "improvements" by previous owners, which actually made the house look like a sick mutt. Unfortunately, not very many of these "experts" we've had round have been much use at realizing our dream. Many rows and arguments later it got to the point where I wasn't trusting anyone in LA to do a good job. But we needed a railing on the front steps (a previous owner had obviously thought it would be a good idea to dismantle the original steps and remove the old iron railings). After much research we found king ironworks. Thank god we did. I gave them a raft of photos I'd taken of a old 1920s railing on a house down the street & king managed to copy it exactly. It's thick, heavy (it took three men to carry it up the steps) metal and looks like it has been sat on our front steps for 100 years, which is exactly what we wanted to achieve.
