The check-in receptionist was on the phone when my husband and I arrived in a panic due to a bee sting allergic reaction. She completely ignored us, not even looking up. My husband went in the back himself to grab help. The nurse was quick to defend the receptionist stating that we were not being ignored and that I am standing and breathing I'm fine. A theral exam was not done but in my chart notes it said it was. I was given medications and shortly after sent back to the waiting room to be monitored. Who in the waiting list room is monitoring me? Other patients? read more

If I could give less than 1 star, I would place this hospital in the negative by far. I have 2 experiences about which I wish to warn others, the first being the care of an elderly friend who has diabetes. I brought her to the emergency room at this hospital because she had a HOLE in her toe and could not feel it! She had an odor of rotting flesh about her (sorry to be graphic) so I knew this was quite serious. I could see the bone of her toe and noticed several small, white particles around the hole - which turned out to be bone fragments. A young - doctor? - briefly came in to examine my friend, sent a prescription off to the pharmacy and sent her on her way home. The young lady said this infection had not reached the bone, so she could go on home and follow up with her foot doctor. 2 days later, I went with my friend to her foot doctor who immediately told me to take her to St Pete's in Olympia and that there was NO WAY her toe could NOT have been infected to the bone at the time we had gone to the hospital because it could not have progressed so severely in the 2 days between the hospital visit and seeing him. St Pete's immediately hospitalized my friend and had to amputate her big toe. Centralia ought to be sued for such poor health service! But that is up to my friend. I have informed her I am willing to be a witness, should she decide to move forward. The second incident involves my husband who had a stroke, which brought us to the hospital. My preference would have been to go directly to St Pete's, but as I myself had recently had 2 back surgeries, I was unable to drive. Not realizing what my husband was experiencing was a stroke, he drove the two of us to the hospital himself! Thankfully, we weren't far from the hospital and God was watching out for us! But... ok, at the hospital... the young man who was typing up my husband's symptoms and conveying them to the nurse could NOT get anything right. He would tell the nurse three symptoms my husband was experiencing had stopped... when we had said nothing of the sort. He couldn't tell the nurse the correct blood pressure reading, he said my husband lost vision in his left eye, but it had since returned - which was inaccurate!, he told the nurse my husband was not experiencing any numbness - when his whole left arm was numb.....I mean, what? Was it this guy's first day?? And we were supposed to trust he typed in the correct information??? It was truly a mess that we constantly had to interrupt and correct! Thankfully, the nurse put in a transfer to St Pete's; otherwise I would have asked for that myself. Please be cautious and go straight to St Peter's. It is not worth the risk to go to Centralia hospital. Very lousy, disappointing treatment from a place you would hope you could trust in a crisis. read more

I had the worst hospital experience of my life. I went to the ER at 6 PM and noticed that patients who checked in after me were being called back for their vitals first. When I complained, they claimed they had called my name, but I hadn't responded. It turned out they were calling me by my middle name, which is how I was registered. Once they fixed that issue, I was taken back for triage. However, the setting was not private at all; staff members were walking in and out and having casual conversations while I was trying to discuss sensitive health information with the nurse. I was then sent to a bathroom in the lobby to provide a urine sample and had to bring it back through the waiting room to leave with registration, after which I had to wait again. After another hour, I was called back to provide my financial details and then sent back to the waiting room again. While I waited, I saw patients who had arrived hours after me being called back for less serious conditions. When I asked the receptionist about this, they explained that they had 23 beds and 26 patients, so they prioritized those less likely to need to stay overnight. Keep in mind that I was there because we suspected I had appendicitis. After another hour, I was called back for bloodwork and then returned to the waiting room. I was nearly ready to leave and find another hospital after a 45-minute wait when I heard that they were prepping a room for me. I was finally called back at 9:30 PM, and as we walked toward the room, I noticed nurses sitting and chatting, with five empty rooms available. The nurse who saw me was nice, but the female doctor was rough and rude. She lacked bedside manner and didn't seem to listen. After forcefully pressing on my stomach in multiple areas to find the source of my pain, she lifted my leg and struck my heel with her palm to jolt my body, asking, "Does that hurt?" I was confused because I was there for a possible appendix issue and replied, "Yes, that leg was broken eight months ago!" She then moved to my other leg and did the same thing before asking if I felt pain in my abdomen. She said she would schedule an ultrasound and that my bloodwork looked fine before leaving the room. The nurse mentioned she would give me morphine and Zofran, and I asked for a cracker since my stomach was empty. She said she would ask and let me know, but she never returned with an answer. After the ultrasound, which the tech was nice during, the nurse returned and asked if I needed anything. Still waiting for results, I requested a sip of water or ice chips. Once again, she said she would check and vanished. The doctor returned at 11:35 PM with her personal belongings, clearly preparing to leave. She said I had a small amount of fluid in my fallopian tube near my ovary and that there was nothing more they could do. I mentioned a hard lump in my abdomen that was sore, just to the right of my belly button and below my rib. She said my labs were fine, so she had no reason to examine it. I expressed my concerns, but she insisted nothing needed further investigation, stating she would discharge me and that the nurse would come in shortly to assist with my discharge. The nurse never arrived, and since it was midnight, I decided I had waited long enough. I got dressed, removed my own IV, and walked out to find several nurses sitting at the nursing station. When I asked about my discharge papers, they looked confused, and one nurse said, "Oh, she didn't get them yet? They're on so-and-so's desk." I finally got my paperwork and left. I do not recommend this hospital for any emergencies--steer clear of that place! Edit to add: Less than 12 hours later, I was admitted to a different hospital for an abdominal infection that was spreading rapidly. I had to be treated with four different antibiotics, three of which were administered through an IV, for 3 days! I can only imagine where I would be right now if I hadn't sought a second opinion. read more

For a hospital they were outstanding. I was admitted April 2025 and the food was outstanding, in fact it is like gourmet. Everything was fresh not in containers. Very tasty and good size servings. They do try to accommodate for gluten free. I wish other hospitals would take some lessons from this one. My hat is off to the cooks and everyone is so, so very nice and helpful. read more

I didn't feel safe I was hurt by a rn trying to take blood & she was smirking I was like wtf I mean ya it was unreal & it's not the pain it's the fact I saw her smirk then she walks out & acts like I'm the problem. No absolutely not I don't care who believed me I seen it then they all gossiped where I could here sent in 2 more different people that treated me poorly & were saying Fatima wouldn't smirk so I just said well every single person in this hospital would give that same answer but I saw it & now I don't like any of it I'll take my chances. I checked in at 9:30 only to be brought into a room about 4 hours later and they left me in this room for about 5-6 hours till I finally saw the doctor where they conducted I should get a lung x ray only to mess up the x ray and I also got a EKG which was also not done properly. I was showing signs of serious lung damage and yet was told I was fine and sent home. read more

I was admitted into the Providence Centralia Hospital on late Wednesday night, September 28th, for an acute case of Prostatitis and Sepsis. I was discharged one hour ago today, Sunday afternoon, October 3rd. From the moment my wheel chair rolled into the Emergency Room, I was treated well by all of the staff. Dr Alexander and Dr Kennedy took a shotgun approach to the evaluation process to find out why I had a 103.9 temperature after they realized that I tested negative for both strains of the Flu and Covid-19. Once they determined my diagnosis, I was moved to the second floor. The staff on the second floor were phenomenal and their professionalism is worthy of praise. Dr Manlapaz, Dr Stevens, and especially Dr Penoyar took excellent care of me. They were always friendly, took the time to listen, and always answered questions. The Nursing staff were great too. A special shout out to Teela, Luba, Cynthia, and Nikki. Last but not least, the Support Staff (i.e., CNAs, Kitchen staff, Imaging, etc.) were also very polite, professional, and gave nothing less than 100% while doing their jobs. In short, I am so grateful that we are all blessed to have such a wonderful Hospital staffed by so many kind and professional people eager to give all of us their best when we are at the lowest point in our lives. This ER and nursing staff are top notch. Though our initial time was a wait. It was well with it. Every and I mean Every staff member was caring , concerned, funny and ALWAYS made you feel important! As a person not just another number. They have gained my families business for life or until we move out of state. This place will scam you. I went and in the emergency room waited 6hours and they told me my arm was broken and there's nothing they can do. Then when I received the bill I PAID IT RIGHT AWAY! Then they sent me another bill! For the same things! Plus they added $91 to tell me to stop smoking! They charged me to tell me something that if I listened would make me heal 2x slower! I don't know how they are getting away with this but I'm calling my insurance so they know they are getting scammed and i promise their army of lawyers is bigger than yours by miles. I went in at 12:30 a.m with a broken rib. at about 2:30-3:00a.m they took my vitals and mri. they told me I had a bad fracture and needed to see the Dr. At 6:00am I asked when I was going to see a dr. because Im in serious pain and got mistreated for asking they told me it will be about an hour. At 8:30 I was still in pain and no Dr. or anything for my pain. I ended up walking out. with NO HELP FROM THEM.. WHY IS IT THAT THEY CAN TREAT PEOPLE THAT NEED HELP SO BADLY?? read more

I checked into the ER at 11:20 am. It's currently 9:30 pm and I have yet to see a doctor. I did get triaged and had a blood draw and urinalysis. Those lab results showed in MyChart a little after 4pm. I've been sitting in the waiting room with an uncomfortable IV port in my arm this entire time. Apparently, they only have one doctor & three nurses on staff, with over 40 patients checked in, in addition to the near constant barrage of ambulances dropping off patients. In no sane universe, is this a safe situation for anyone involved. Literally the only positive aspect to this visit has been the staff in admitting and at the check-in desk. They have displayed amazing patient care and are clearly as frustrated by this situation as the patients. I will do my best to avoid going to Providence Swedish ER in the future. I could have driven to Spokane for care at this point. read more

Worst emergency care ever. Was seen for several hypertension and stroke like symptoms, was placed in a hallway and left for hours. Finally when BP was 202/134 I was put in an exam room and left. Kept being told doctor was stitching a head then would be in. I was admitted at 8 p.m. and finally saw a doctor at 9 a.m. Never had monitors or people checking on me. Took me to ask repeatedly for vitals to assess my health. Then was told to come back if pressure was 220/200. Really. They just don't care about the patients, to busy visiting with their coworkers. read more

I would not recommend this place. This hospital nearly costs me my life. Back in July of 2022 I was experiencing excruciating pain in my lower back and I was having difficulty walking. The diagnosed me with severe constipation and told me to start a bowel regiment. A few days latter i visited again. That time i was told i had a kidney stone or a uit. No blood tests were done. I came again for a third time this time by ambulance. By the third time blood tests were done and those labs said i had MRESA in my spine. I had to be addmited. The late night ER staff tonight is terrible. No sense of urgency as I'm watching them ignore call bells going off. A friend was having severe mental health issues and was waiting for transport. He was left un attended on a bed in the hall for hours on end. Then moved to a different hall and left alone. Took 6+ hours for a doctor to stop and see him. Every nurse that walked by ignored him. When your on suicide watch there should be someone watching you. The only reason I give 2 stars is for the fact that he was not left in the waiting room. Do better some people depend on you to help. My parents came in to this hospital at 230am on 4/30/23- there wasn't any tests done till aft 8am. They didn't get released till after 2pm! Also, while they were there they were not offered anything to eat or drink! Why does it take over 12 hours to get help with tests? Why are you not offering them something to eat or drink? There are many abysmal reviews here so I thought I might try to balance it out with my honest experience. I was seen here recently and can say unequivocally that every single medical care team member treated me with respect, kindness and seemed truly concerned and responsive. This is really impressive in a busy high stress high stakes environment! Providence must take great care of their staff in order that they are able to feel well supported in their work place. Everyone who entered the room introduced themself and was polite and friendly. I also felt that they were competent, they seemed confident and consulted with one another- great communication with patients and staff. In the past, I've received equally competent care here for my children. The reason for the 4, not 5, star rating is- 1) check in staff need some customer service training, and please, implement a policy which prohibits strong fragrances in the check in area! Standing there was like a trip to bath and body works. Sick people, especially those who have allergies and or respiratory issues are physically impacted in a negative way by this exposure. read more

Worst emergency room ever. My young daughter, having problems breathing coughing nonstop for an entire day. We went in there at 3 AM. We were still sitting there in the lobby at 8 AM without any help at all no one there cares about you. They claim to be an emergency room you come in with an emergency and they make you sit there for half a day. We had to take the IV out of my daughters alarm after eight hours, and leave .This place should not even exist. my 76 yo husband was brought into emergency at Centralia providence hospital due to him being dizzy, unable to stand, headache and overall confused as to what was ha. He arrived at the hospital at 5pm via ambulance and was left sitting in a chair in the emergency department. it is now 11 pm and no hope that he will even be seen tonight since after 11 there is only one doctor on duty. if I have a choice in the future I will not go to this hospital. the staff are definitely not helpful and belittling for the exception of one nurse earlier who was at least able to obtain little information. if you need emergency care, this hospital isNOT the hospital to rece treatment. read more

This place is a complete and total rip off. I just found out I am pregnant and went in to get basic labs which were ordered through their women's center which were in-network with my insurance company, they didn't talk to me about what labs they were going to do (I could have told them not to order any STI screening or blood type because I already know all the results for that since I was last pregnant) so I go in, they take 4 small vials, and no one even calls me with the results, it's been weeks, no I get a bill tho that says they are charging $2500 for what I could have gone to lab corp and paid a fraction for? And then I call their financial help line, and the woman was just like "oh, your insurance company is saying you have to pay this because you have a deductible" oh, fuck me right? Low income, pregnant, at home and out of work because of covid with a toddler, and they aren't going to do shit for me, very cool! Fuck this place, fuck their service, all they give a shit about is getting paid. I am not going back, I refuse to deliver here, canceling all my prenatal appointments I had with them. Oh, and those labs they took? My thyroid came back abnormal, thank god I manage my own shit directly with my endocrinologist, because tho it could mean very bad things for my pregnancy and adversely effect my baby, no nurse or the doctor who was supposed to be managing my case contacted me to let me know. Always be your own advocate, this place is obviously money first, patients last. read more

This Emergency Room is rated so low for a good reason. They are a complete failure. Every time I have been in there was a waste of time. They don't care and show it repeatedly. There was once that during covid they finally took seriously that something was wrong and I was allowed in with a cough from pneumonia after repeated tests were negative for covid. Ended up being treated twice because it wasn't wanting to go away. This last time is indeed the last time. I don't care if I'm dying I will refuse an ambulance ride there. I'd rather die going out of my way to get to an ER that can save me than go to this one and waste my last breaths on them. This last visit they left me with little to no care, risked my life by refusing tests that my pcp sent me there to get, and letting me leave with a bp of 198/95 in excruciating pain because they refused to listen to what I was actually said then lied repeatedly on the discharge summary notes saying that they had fully evaluated me and that I needed a neurologist that they put in a referral to. When the neurologist was called they don't take cases like mine because I was listed as having a migraine which is what it started out as but they didn't listen when I said repeatedly that something had changed. 100% a failure as an ER. read more

My sister is there atm asleep. She has been there for hours now and there are around 15+ other people. I have understanding for the hospital with that many patients. But in urgent care? They have to find a way to get more staff because my sister has been sitting there in agonizing pain and in total fear for her life with little to no updates or progress. If what is happening to my sister is serious the lack or avaliablity or maybe even effort put in right now could risk her life. I am the third generation in my family to have a hortific experience at this quack infested hospital. 26 years ago they were responsible for misdiagnosing my grandmother which resulted in her death. 25 years ago they nearly killed me just minutes after a c-section. Now last week they couldnt seem to find a blockage in my mothers legs...we had my mom at an Olympia area hospital yesterday and nearly lost her due to an old bloodclot that just days before the staff at Centralia Providence missed. I was in the Emergency Room July 28 after an Auto accident where I was T-boned. When I first arrived by Ambulance I was taken care of by the arrival Nurse very well. They triaged me in no time and had me in the Cat Scan and then back to the emergency room. That's where everything slowed down. There had been a shift change and the new nurse came in and gave me two pills of Oxycontin for my pain and said she would give me 10 to take home. I never received the ones to take home. After the Doctor examined me, he released me. This was at 4:45 pm. But I had to wait until the nurse took out the IV. At 5:30 I started getting mad because the nurse wasn't coming in. I yelled to them at the desk but they flat out ignored me. I continued to yell at them every few minutes to "take this IV out and let me go or I will do it myself and leave"! Finally at 6:05 the doctor was walking by and asked why I was still here. So I told him. In two seconds he had the nurse there who had been relaxing with other nurse and joking at the nurses station. She took out the IV and I left. Suddenly there were two nurses available to escort me to the front door. Funny how that works. read more

Do not go to this place!!! Drive to Olympia if you h have to. Seriously avoid this place like the plague. My son, a collegiate baseball player who was hit in the head while batting has had headaches as a result and lights to his eyes cause pain. Being from out of state and after 5 on a Friday. He went to the ER to be seen quickly and by a doctor. After 8 hours.. 8 HOURS!!! he was still not seen and the staff could not give any sort of timeframe as to when he would be. No service was given. Also, In the waiting room (which was not that full) a poor young girl was vomiting and could hardly walk and laid there for the 4.5 hours I was there without treatment. Yet another young girl, who's mom thought her appendix was ruptured sat there in pain for the 4.5 hours I was there as well. I literally flew from Vegas to Seattle, got a rental car drove down and still sat there all that time with him after he had already been there for 3.5 hours... this is worse than a 3rd world country! read more

I received a call that I never wanted to -- my dad didn't have much time to live. He fell and became unconscious. He had a brain aneursym. When my brother and I got to the ER, we were a mess and welcomed by a very caring RN. The doctor was lukewarm and to the point, very neutral, which I understand. Bascially, my dad didn't have enough time. My brother and I knew my dad didn't want to suffer if there wasn't much that could be done medically. The whole process was smooth and the nurses are the one that made everything go so well. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Providence nurses. You are the backbone of hospitals and clinics.
