His office is convenient in downtown and it is beautiful. The staff and hygienists are always super friendly. Overall, my teeth are healthy for my age, but my gums are very sensitive. I had a crown break (I only have one) and eery time I have needed any kind of drilling or other operation in my mouth, I have always endured great pain. Not so with Dr Derrick. The last two times I received dental treatment at Apple Seed Family Dentistry, I experienced significant problems afterward that required me to seek care elsewhere. The first time, I had a cavity filled, but the filling affected my bite. My bite did not feel right afterward, and I ultimately had to go to another dental office to have the problem corrected. The second experience was much more concerning. I received a dental injection, and afterward I developed severe difficulty opening my mouth--essentially a locked jaw--that lasted for about a month. Unfortunately, my jaw and mouth have not felt the same since. I have had to seek care elsewhere to have this continued issue get resolved. I understand that complications can happen with dental procedures, but having two separate experiences where I ultimately needed treatment elsewhere has seriously affected my confidence in this practice. I'm posting this review because I think patients deserve to know about my experience and to make informed decisions about where they receive their dental care. Ultimately, I have canceled appointments for my entire family and will not go back to this practice.

Best dental experience i've ever had! I had anxiety going…read moreinto the appointment, but this team created a warming environment. My concerns were heard, and adjustments were made. I went in hoping to get a problematic wisdom tooth removed. When Dr. Ryan and I agreed on removing it same day, I was able to warn him of a previous extraction; in which the dentists had to double the numbing dose, due to my high tolerance for it. He remembered when it came time to numb me up. The dental assistance's were phenomenal as well. One held my hand during the numbing process, while the other assisted Dr. Ryan also gave me information about my jaw, and how it's adjusted. The main problem going in was the wisdom tooth. He did exercises with my jaw which showed that the alignment of my teeth aren't centered when i bite down. He said this could be due to the wisdom tooth, or another underlying problem with my disk. But he never made me feel pressured by information. He was right to the point, adding details as I asked, without making it seem like i needed more than the necessary work done. To make things better, they wrote "Welcome Caitlyn" on the chalk board at the reception desk! I couldn't have asked for a better experience! A special thank you to Dr. Ryan and his entire team!
