I really like the Providence Place mall because it has SO many stores that I favor the most, especially Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel, Bed Bath & Beyond, Ann Taylor, Guess, J. Crew, Vera Bradley, Foot Locker, Forever 21 & Nordstrom amongst other large department stores. We've been to the Dave & Busters here a handful of times & the movie theater has an IMAX, which is cool. The food court is good, they even have a Johnny Rockets there & an ice cream place. The parking lot is huge & you shouldn't forget to pay for your ticket in the machine inside before you exit. That's really the only thing I don't care for...only mall around where you have to pay for parking while you spend money in their stores. read more

Nice mall with all of the typical chain stores and a few bonuses. They have a Dave and Busters, Cinema, and IMAX for entertainment. I was excited to see both a Crate and Barrel and a Sur la Table for cooking and home goods. If you are into comics or quirky books and gifts, check out Newbury Comics. There is a good selection of fast food joints in their huge, modern looking food court. If you are staying at the Omni hotel, there is a walking bridge connecting it to the mall. Not a huge fan of malls, but I have to give Providence Place five stars. From restaurants and fast food to clothes, books, furniture, household furnishings, movies and more, everything you want is under one roof. As one other reviewer noted, Providence Place has to be the cleanest public places you will ever find. Oh, Providence Place. I am usually not a fan of malls but I find myself drawn to you like a moth to a flame. You are big, full of shops, both small and large, discount and upscale,and have a plethora of restaurants and a movie theater (with IMAX). I usually head to you for a discount movie on Tuesday nights or to wander your halls on a rainy day for an indoor hike. All in all you are just a mall, but maybe there is something more to you than meets the eye. Could it be the magnificent views of downtown Providence that you provide or the fact that your food court has a sit-down 50s style diner (it may just be a Johnny Rockets but it is still neat-0)? I'm a mall rat as I work retail. So, I'm sort of a snob when it comes to malls. I love Providence Place. I love the spaciousness of the layout and the mix of stores. Then again, I don't shop outside of the store in which I work much. But the updated look of most of the stores in this mall gives it a far more upscale appearance than even the one in which I work. Many have mentioned issue with the hawkers in the mall. Simply keep walking--they won't chase you and you'll only have a moment's hassle of hearing them beg you to try their cheap crap (don't buy cosmetics from a cart, folks. Go to a well established store that sells a quality product. Your skin will thank you). One of my favorites was the now gone, but unforgotten kiosk that sold a cleaning product for your kicks. And these idiots somehow got a location at the bottom of an escalator where they'd beg you as you hit the bottom. Best part--it was like walking through the train station in the 40's with the kids who'd yell, "need a shine, mister?" Yeah, they didn't last long. Parking. Stop whining about the parking. It's really not that bad if you pay attention and focus on what the garage is there for. Get your ticket, drive in and take the first spot you find. Park your damn car, don't get choosy. Hell, for 5 hours, you pay $2. That's great. Take note of the closest sign that displays your lot number and remember it! Or take a look at the stores around you when you walk in and commit that to your memory. You'll be fine. When you return to your car, follow the signs to the exit, have your credit card ready (the machines allow you to pay) and you'll get out just fine. Don't like to wait in line to get out? Load up your iPod with the tunes, crank them up and rock out until it's your turn. Life is good with music while waiting in line to pay for your parking. I recommend singing along to some Sara B. But do not use this garage for WaterFire nights...it does get insane. Granted, I'm biased as I love The PVD™ and will be joining the community in the future...and I'm a mallie. But I do love PP and it's offerings. Oh, and go to Cheeseboy. Your tastebuds will thank you. read more

I might have spent most of my freshman year here. I maxed out plenty of credit cards, saw plenty of movies and had plenty of greasy food to cure my hangovers here. It's a really good mall to come to. Sephora, Nordstrom, Borders.. oh, and lots of cute bearded guys.. which is enough to keep me coming back even if this mall did suck. read more

This is the best mall around! Great selection of stores, especially good for teens and young adults! Food court is huge with large selection. There is a movie theatre and Dave and Busters too, so you will be busy all day. The parking garage is large but will get filled fast. It is also helpful that the show you where the spots are on screens through the garage. Cleanliness of the mall is so so, but overall it's a nice place to shop! read more

Huge and always fun to explore on a boring day. Tons of stores to choose from which is always a huge plus. The only thing I hate about this place is that their escalators are not set up properly in that they want you to have to walk all the way around and see all the stores before getting to go up or down a level. I also enjoy that they have a huge food court with lots of choices and that the movie theater is right there!!! A solid mall that has a little bit of everything. They have your generic mall stores like Spencers, Game Stop, and 45 million different clothing and shoe stores as well as some higher end retailers like Tiffany's and the Apple Store. They also have a giant movie theater/IMAX, many different sit down restaurants, and a great variety of quick service food stops in their food court. The biggest drawback is the parking garage. It is super confusing and annoying but it is so inexpensive to park and central to everything that you have no choice but to park here. The mall is great. Tons of stores, never feels overcrowded. Plenty of restaurants besides the food court. Biggest drawback is parking. Yes there is plenty of it, the design is so crazy and not very conducive. The price is great for the first 5 hours at $2. but then jumps to $10 FOR THE NEXT FEW HOURS. My friends and I stopped by Providence Place for some shopping on a Saturday since we were nearby at Waterplace Park. They have all the typical stores and even additional entertainment venues such as an IMAX and Dave & Busters. I was impressed! Compared to the malls in NYC, Providence Place is clean, spacious, and not noisy with screaming toddlers and teenagers. The lines for the fitting rooms and registers are short and their escalators work. I can definitely see myself shopping here stress-free if I lived in Providence. read more

I feel much like many of the other reviewers. It's a monster of a mall, with mostly every kind of shop. Parking sucks. Not only is the garage so massive that I need a trail of bread crumbs to find my way back but it's more than I like to pay (read: nothing). I would be more likely to come here if there was free parking - or a way to get my parking validated (like with a receipt from one of the stores inside). But when I do go I usually just park up the block and walk in. read more

A mall is a mall is a mall, but Providence Place is OK. It has all the necessities; movies, mediocre food, clothing outlets, and what have you. It's clean and fairly easy to navigate. If you need something generic, it's probably there. There are a bunch of over priced stores and mall staples like Macy's and Crate and Barrel. I don't understand this place. It's like the person that designed this building had never designed a shopping mall before. The layout is bizarre, the entrances (if you're not coming from the garage) are weird and look like you are entering an empty building. There's too much blank space. And then the stores are just average. I was happy to see a Nordstrom but then I went in it and it was very sparse. Overall, I don't see the draw to this particular mall. I'm not a huge mall fan to begin with but this one is pretty mediocre. read more

THis is a great mall in terms of what stores they have and all they have to offer as far as restaurants and the movie theater!! THe BIGGEST drawback of this mall is the parking.. I have no idea what they were thinking when they designed the parking lot but it is so confusing and hard to get in and out of.. The bigger of malls in rhode island built in the heart of Providence Rhode island. When built was planned as a casino but it never happend so it became a 3 level mall with 3 anchor stores, shops, main food court, imax, showcase cinema and Dave and busters. Some stores don't seem to last and usually every so often something new comes along. Food court has had changes as well. This mall is a decent sized mall with 3 levels. It has many of the chain stores that you would expect such as Macy's and JC Penney. It also features a Dave and Buster that I did not get a chance to go to during my time in the city but I am sure it is the same experience everywhere. Like Fire + Ice, there are other food chains such as Panera Bread, Cheesecake Factory, and P.F. Chang's China Bistro. I went to each of those restaurants multiple times. In particular, Cheesecake Factory is one of my favorite chains so I have definitely gone more times and ate much more than I should have while I was in Providence. The mall also has an IMAX theater. It is legitimate one with a massive screen. It is a very comfortable theater to see a movie. Being from New York, it was a lot less than I am accustomed to with a $15 night showing for IMAX. If you go on a Tuesday, the tickets for all showings are half off. So I can't say I love the mall for shopping but I def love it for my Nailssss! My favorite nail salon Foxie Nails in located on the first floor, I come atleast twice a month, to see my Judy, she is amazing! It's easy to get in and out, helps that their is plenty of parking, as well, I love being able to grab an outfit at H&M, or a candle at Yankee Candle, it makes it easy to do other shopping while also getting pampered. Love the Nordstroms Cafe, Cheesecake Factory, Pizzeria Uno and Melting Pot here. So, yea... the food places are tons better than the actual shops. The theater is good and Dave and Busters, too. This mall is heavily trafficked so the items and stores are often picked over. read more

A relatively new mall that is easy to get to and has reasonably inexpensive parking. This place is a shopaholic's heaven! If you are within an hour of Providence it is worth the jaunt to check out this mall. It has 3+ levels with a ton of great stores. The Lord & Taylor recently closed and is going to be replaced by a JC Penny. I LOVE Nordstroms, even just for window shopping. They have a larger than normal amount of full service restaurants here along with the food court. A bunch of the restaurants don't have access from inside the mall but they are easy enough to get to. read more

I don't like malls all that much, but probably because they are generally in generic, suburban locations where you almost feel like you lose your soul when you walk in them. Providence Place, however, is right in the center of Providence, which gives it a slightly more dynamic feel. The stores are the same ones you'll find at any mall, and there are too many kids hanging around with nothing to do, but it's not a bad place to go, and there's a movie theater within the place that is worth considering. I won't go out of my way to hit Providence Place, but if I'm in downtown Providence, I'll sometimes head over for a little while anyways. read more

One of my favorite places to shop! my only negative comments about this place is it has way too many escalators and some of them are too steep and for someone who has horrible vertigo it's a nightmare! There needs to be more stairs and elevators available since the mall is so huge. Luckily for me I have a very sweet boyfriend who will hold on to me when I have to use them so I don't lose my balance especially carrying a bunch of shopping bags. read more

It's just a typical mall with all of the brands you expect - from Coach to Forever21... But wait! Yes, it has a Tiffany & Co.; however, it's lacking luxury stores like Saks Fifth Avenue. I guess you go to Boston for that. The Providence Mall does serve its purpose when you need something from the mainstream stores though (e.g. Victoria's Secret) and it is quite large with 3 levels. It's very convenient (I think) that they label the entrances 'Stateside' and 'Cityside.' Helps me find my way because I do not have a sense of 'North,' 'South,' 'East' or 'West.' read more

Parking sucks, but the mall itself was clean and stocked full of stores you'd expect, and stores you might not. I enjoyed my visit, and the views from the scenic windows overlooking the canal and Providence. I really like this mall, it's a great size with alot of the major stores. My only issue is that you have to pay for parking in the parking ramp, granted it's only $2 for the whole time you are there but that means I have to be much more purposeful about visiting.
