the hospital is "great" very professional and friendly! however the sleep dr..the medical center is really bad at"communication" ..terrible! they dont get back to you!..also trying to complete forms the system does not allow to finish or get more info very important in a sleep study!..they were not efficient in comfort of patient! still waiting after 4 phone calls and 3 weeks ago! i have called 4 times.left messages..and spoke to a person to get back to me.."just get back!" .with no call back for weeks..when filling out forms on line..would not let me finish and get more info..nothing was asked about my bad back..so the data would not be any good because i kept waking up from pain..not enough reclining beds..asking my worker beatrice to call me to answer a question "no return call whatsoever...and i left a note she was good..i was being polite!...who do i contact ?for this test which was no good! read more

Need to update your radiation therapy equipment to the contemporary type that does NOT use permanent tattoos!!! Options now exist that do not use permanent tattoos for radiation patients. Give cancer patients a choice to control their lives. Other facilities in the area use tatoo-less methods. To be competitive and offer best care, you should offer this too!!! read more

The office staff has no clue what they're doing. I have not gotten any response to any of my questions. It says they will respond in three days. Well, it's been like two weeks and nobody ever called or sent me a message back worst place I have ever been to even the manager never called me back. Kim is her name they also had no idea to order my meds. They kept getting it wrong for three months. It's not that hard to do even me that has no experience could probably have done it right. To top it off my doctor Sonia is leaving. I just started going there and now she's leaving after the third month that I've been going there. What a joke. read more

Such a mess scheduling colonoscopy. It took 9 months with known polyps. Then they tried to cancel me at the last minute I would have to wait another nine months to reschedule. Some confusion with the entrance meant that it was more important to cancel me unless I paid $8000 upfront with unknown pre-cancerous condition and unknown nine month waiting time. They were willing to do that. Not a catholic hospital and not a non-profit. Outright willing to let people die for not having cash upfront because their insurance system is screwed up. I was able to verify and prove the insurance and they were still a nightmare. Then I sat on display in the hospitals main area for 45 minutes having to explain to everyone that knew me why I was there. Then they screwed up scheduling. They told be to be here two hours before my procedure with bowel prep in my gut and no bathroom nearby. Just humiliating all the way around. AND they did send me instructions until the day of and at my request. They were so busy trying to cancel me, but they didn't bother getting the appropriate things done. Never again. read more

Staff is TERRIBLE March 24 I went in around 4am and after the very dismissive doctor had seen me he had left the door open and these nurses ask him if I had drank my tea which I couldn't bring myself to swallow, because of the reason I was their, and they started to laugh and joke about it. I had already had a rough night dealing with the harsh symptoms and I had to walk out crying because of how rudely they treated me. Now my mom and I are stuck trying to find another hospital to go to that will take our insurance. Seriously sick of them. read more

I left Providence because I never want to go to memorial hospital which I have found to be incompetent. My mother still goes to several doctors at Providence but on a recent visit for her yearly check up we had the unfortunate encounter with Eric Bell, a PA for Dr. Smith. Eric was extremely rude and condescending. He had absolutely no patience for our questions and after 40 minutes he told us that we were done. I asked him to please check some bruises on my mother but he said that our time was up and we should make another appointment. We left the office frustrated and feeling rejected. He had a Typical attitude towards the elderly. Uninterested, impatient, recommending needless tests for my 88 year old mother. I would never recommend Providence to anyone. The physician s that I have dealt with are absolutely terrible, especially Eric Bell! read more

Went to an urgent care for sinus infection. The Dr. Stood 8 foot away from me and prescribed an antibiotic. I was floored to receive a bill for over 800 dollars. After paying my 90 dollar copay They frauduently charged for an ER visit which the insurance company denied, as sinus infections are not generally thought to be life threatening. I was not allowed to talk to the office to discuss the codes. After final getting through to billing, they said they would send an itemized bill to me. (They never did) They have now threatened me with collections. Avoid St. Joseph's at all costs. read more

And went into the emergency room for a stomach issue. I felt all the staff knew their job and worked well on my behalf. I spent four hours total in the ER., but many tests were done on me. Considering the amount of tests that were done, four hours was appropriate. All the tests were done before the doctor ever came in to see me and gave me the results of what was found and then I was released within 30 minutes later. read more

I went in on a trauma, not knowing what happened to me. The last thing I remember, I was walking my dog. The next thing I remember, I was in an ambulance. I fractured eight ribs and almost punctured along my head was bleeding profusely, I got one staple on my head. They kept shifting me around all over the place left and right trying to get my clothes off I think, I'm really not sure but I wasn't so much pain , long story short I ended up staying in a room with a roommate who had her family members over every night I was there, and the staff would not tell them to leave. I found that so unfair, especially with what I was going through. read more

We went to see Dr. Christopher Way in Santa Rosa, Providence on April 16th. When he finally came into the room, he seemed professional, focusing on recording the information and getting the medical history. Michael explained the series of reactions he was having, dizziness, nausea, memory lapse, and finally full body sweating and then repeated about 45 minutes later for about 36 to 48 hours. We explained that we thought it was due to medications side effects. He concluded it was not seizures and abruptly left the room. On Tuesday, May 6th my spouse had a full seizure. We went to emergency room via ambulance on May 6th. My spouse was semi-conscious and thought he was being kidnapped. He fought with the paramedics and apparently fell from the gurney. He had to be sedated. After 7 hours of testing and lots of pain, he was released with anti-seizure medication and instructions to call the neurologist. We called and left a message but did not receive a call back. A few days later we called again and spoke with the receptionist about the emergency room physician's instructions, and were transferred to the message machine again. We called back the next day and threatened to call Provident Health because we had no response. The medical assistant called and said they did care and would forward the referral to Dr. Way. We haven't heard back since. We would not recommend Provident Health and certainly not Dr. Way for anything. Such an impersonal man doesn't belong in a Healthcare profession. read more

Brought my child to the Providence Memorial ER for croup cough, fever and shortness of breath in the middle of the night. After triage we waited almost three hours before being seen by a doctor. I asked the nurses when we were going to be seen by a doctor and they said "the viruses from your swab all tested negative, so we are going to discharge your child" (her lungs hadn't even been listened to by a doctor yet). The nurse said, "She looks fine to me. We had to admit more serious emergencies first." I saw several addicts, looking for pain meds get admitted and seen by a doctor faster than my child with shortness of breath. Meanwhile every time my kid coughed in the waiting room, parents looked at her concerned. I had to demand that my daughter be seen after we were the last people in the ER and it was clear they had forgotten about us. Save yourself the trouble of this ER and take your child to Oakland Children's Hospital for more competent care. The nurses at Providence totally let my child slip through the cracks. It wasn't even that busy so there was no excuse. read more

This review is only for the nursing staff and CNA's at the oncology department inpatient: Everyone in the oncology department as an inpatient at the hospital is FANTASTIC! We have been in the hospital from 2/6/25 - 2/24/25 and every single person who has been here 24/7 has been amazing! They're focused to taking care of their patients their very best! All the nurses and CNA's are wonderful at their jobs. There are a few odd balls in the mix but the rest of the staff is great! Karen the case manager is wonder at listening to your concerns and try's her best to soothe you and fix the issue! This second part is for the hospitalist: Dr. Mark Shapiro is a fantastic doctor! If you get him as your doctor here he is a wonderful doctor he has great bedside manners, he tells you what you need to get done before you go home and has a plan. He LISTENS to you and your needs! He is very patient and professional! We absolutely love him!!! Dr. Mujeeb Altaf is TERRIBLE!!!! 1. He came in the night my husband came back from UCSF asked me (the wife) questions about my husband's care. (Which I know 100% of.) as a doctor he ahould be looking at his chart. The next day he came in and asked "why didnt you tell me he had cancer?" Why am I supposed to tell him I'm not his assistant. 2. He asked my husband if he wanted to go home and if he wanted an oxygen tank? My husband had been on oxygen for 2 weeks and got evaluated by a PT and determined that his oxygen drops to 78% WITHOUT OXYGEN!!!!!!!!! Is that even a question!!!????? 3. He was YELLING at my husband and I!!!! My husband had been having low platelets since being admitted and has been getting transfusions. He was going to get a procedure done at 9:30am. No one came and I asked the nurse and she said the doctor got back to them THIS MORNING!!! He should have gotten back to them YESTERDAY to get the transfusion and when he came into the room and I asked him he said " You should have asked me and not the nurses they dont know what they are talking about." Ummm sorry I dont have you on speed dial. Thats when he was screaming at my husband and I. read more

Got ghosted for a scheduled interview with zero communication on their part. Tried multiple times to get in touch with their recruiters or Human Resources and was totally unsuccessful. In fact, their hospital operator said that they "didn't have HR" and every attempt to transfer my call elsewhere would automatically disconnect. I honestly really hesitated before even applying there as I've heard from a number of current and former employees about the toxic work environment, but thought I'd give it a shot because it's close and the pay sounded ok. After this experience I'm avoiding them. I've also had two close family members have really negative experiences there, saying that the care they received was substandard and both their nurses and surgeons were the source of their concerns. read more

My son made an appointment to see a doctor with Providence and the soonest they could get him in is October 2024. We called in January. My son has had a CT scan and an MRI requested by outside specialist yet he cannot get an appointment for a primary care physician to examine him nor read his CT scan. He has called a few times to see if they have a cancellation and the receptionist tells him they do not have a cancellation list for new patients. It doesn't concern her that he may be very sick, there is not way to see a doctor before 10 months out. This is Sonoma County health care? It is unacceptable. read more

My complaint with Providence Health (it used to be St Josephs) in Santa Rosa, goes back 5 or six years. I took my wife there in January of 2016. I had noticed that she was slowly losing weight and I took her there because Kaiser had damn near killed her a year prior. That is neither a joke nor an exaggeration. Our first doctor couldn't seem to get out of the way of her own brilliance. She was ineffective and as the months passed their was NO progress in the search to find a diagnosis for my wife. It was just a series of "go see this person, go see that person." No progress whatsoever. So we switched doctors as we tried to find someone, ANYONE, to take the football and run with it. Another two years passed and we were no where. My wife was literally skin and bones. She looked like she had come out of a nazi death camp. Finally I gave up. When she could nwao longer stand I called an ambulance for the emergency room. Only this time she went to SUTTER Santa Rosa on a Thursday. She was transferred to CPMC San Francisco the next day. At CMPC her surgical team found the cause two days later. Two days. Their diagnosis was correct. After a complicated surgery and recovery, she is starting to put on weight now and no longer hovers under 100 1bs on her 5'4" frame. We wasted Valueable time and money all those years at Providence where not one doctor or specialist had any sense of URGENCY. EVER. Her surgeon at CPMC said she was 2 weeks from death. Two weeks. We wasted money waiting for Providence to pull a rabbit out of a hat. So beware. read more

Had a referel to the neurology department since June, 2022 for a chronic Migraine. Each time I call to schedule an appointment they say they're booked 3 months out. Today we had to renew my referel because it actually expired while waiting for them to book an appointment for me and they put me at the back of the line. Apparently there was an opening between now and when I had my 1st referel with them because now they're saying that they're booked through late July. I've learned to judge a doctor's office by the efficiency of their receptionists and this place fails. read more

My most recent visit to the Pain Management office was a follow up to my recent surgery. Dr. Ramshandani placed a spinal cord stimulator in my back within the last 2 weeks, so it has been necessary to follow up with both the wounds and the device. Dr. R, Ricardo, and Héctor all get a 5 star rating. In addition, Jamie, the tech support from Medtronic (the company that makes both my defibrillator/ pacemaker and my spinal cord stimulator, is 5 stars and a little more. He's the one who creates my program, teaches me how to use it, and is highly informed. And he's comfortable to be around. Thank you to the entire staff that has worked to bring me relief from pain. read more

I brought a IHSS recipient to evaluate her hands and arms. He was kind, professional, and honest. The staff was friendly enough. He gave me a prescription for compression gloves but unfortunately I lost the piece of paper. This was a huge mistake because I have called at least 4 times without any results. Obviously I should have been more careful but that doesn't excuse them ignoring me. Every time I have called it takes forever for anyone from the call center to answer and no-one ever answers from Dr.Pezold's office. Someone called me once but they didn't leave a message and they never tried to call me again. I am beyond angry because this is ridiculous. MyChart was no help either. It would have been nice if there would have been a copy of the prescription so I could print it out BUT that would be too convenient. read more

Scheduling did not return my phone call for three days. I had an order for an urgent cat scan. I finally had to call Patient Services. (Nurse and doctor disagree on treatment for my three-week ailment so nothing gets accomplished.) If you get cut off from "Customer Service" they do not call you back. No one EVER answers the Radiology Dept. phone number. The list goes on and on. Patient suffers 24/7 in pain for weeks!!!! This is a lawsuit waiting to happen. read more

This place is utter garbage, be careful when asking for preventative care otherwise they will add additional other things your insurance will not cover. Don't even mention a cough or it'll invalidate your preventative care. I won't be going there again and highly recommend anyone to find somewhere else to go. You could die before actually getting through to customer service. Providence sent a letter saying to contact them regarding a claim. The customer service since going to "My Chart" is beyond horrible. Waited 25 minutes to speak to someone, they were being helpful and then line was cut off. Back on another 20+ minute hold. Not the first time I've had to call and have my blood pressure increase as have to hold unacceptable amounts of time. read more

Providence health care has declined to a state of non existence. My mother's doctor left in Dec. rather than them offering a new doctor she needs to find one. Even the doctors that ARE accepting new patients are scheduling appointments four months out! It's impossible to find a new doctor in their system who can see a patient in a reasonable amount of time. She can't get an appointment with Dr. Trapnell for four months and is not allowed to see the nurse practitioner before that. This is insane. You are broken Providence. read more

After leaving a 6 week hell hole called A Mission For Micheal, I arrived with this care facility very skeptical and, frankly, a bit more traumatized than I was before I began a mental health rehab. process. What I found was nothing short of amazing. I was in a 3 day a week IOP/intensive outpatient program with them for about 9 weeks. I saw nothing but professionalism, compassion and a true understanding for the dynamics of trauma. Rather than rudimentary lessons on CBT, DBT, etc., as with AMFM, they dive in deep. No repeat handouts to discuss a repeat topic. The front desk, the psychiatrist, case manager and every facilitator gave it their all. read more
