This place is very nice, you get what you pay for. Here are some photos of a chicken salad sandwich and their ground beef made into burgers with some Vidalia onions and fresh mozzarella from Liuzzi.

Seeking a special occasion steak, roast, freshly ground meat (beef, pork, lamb, other) to treat yourself and your loved ones? Then look no further. Top quality pasture raised meats butchered by hand. You might see them shoulder carry entire quarter steers during the week. Nicest people, locally owned, a New Haven gem!

Outrageously expensive! It's nice to have an old school butcher shop on State but the prices are through the roof!

Meat and Co is a creative sandwich shop in New Haven's upscale East Rock Market Food Hall. If you…read morenotice the sign, you'll see they've rotated the lower case "a" in "Meat" so it's upside down. Think of it as a culinary warning that they don't do things the normal way. I've had two sandwiches from Meat and Co. on two separate visits in 2025. The first was the Haute Tuna Melt. The tuna salad itself was good. It has some hot pepper and chive flavor. The tuna sandwich was on a panini-pressed ciabatta roll. I prefer some type of grilled sliced bread, which I think is more common, for a tuna melt. But that's fine. The biggest miss for me was the cheese. The American Cheese was not at all melted. So it's really just a tuna fish sandwich with American Cheese, Lettuce and Tomato. Good for what it was, but it wasn't a Tuna Melt. The second was The Rick Reuben. It must be more "Rick" than "Reuben". because it is the least "Reuben" Reuben sandwich I've ever had. It had pastrami, which is acceptable for a Reuben. That was about it. Instead of kraut, they had a mild red cabbage slaw. Instead of Swiss, they had cheddar. Instead of grilled rye bread, it was on a long panini-pressed pretzel roll. Admittedly, I didn't pay careful attention to the menu description because Reubens usually fall into one of a small number of types, and I like them all. Although, the online menu I saw did not reference the pretzel roll. This sandwich was too far away from any accepted form of Reuben to be called a Reuben. If it had been called a Pretzel Pastrami Melt, which is far more accurate, I wouldn't have ordered it. It was fine for it was. The pastrami was average though. Given how much I like the other East Rock Market vendors, I'm unlikely to return. If you go, pay close attention to the menu and maybe ask questions. 3.25 Stars

He was in his phone the whole time. I asked if it was a panini and he said "no, ciabatta". I ordered a Voodoo chicken which was supposed to be spicy but it was disappointing with no flavor . My husband ordered a steak and cheese and the steak was cheap cut mostly gristly. Our paninis were not toasted, COPD AND HARD BREAD and I'm not sure why as they have the equipment to do it. We also ordered fries but the person refused to make them and said " I don't have any ready ". Okay but can you get some ready? He was extremely lazy and didn't want to work. Cold hard ciabatta with sub par ingredients. $40!! 2 sandwiches. We will not be back . Extremely poorly managed. Lazy employee and sub par ingredients.

So all in all I'd like to start by giving them this verbal (ehhh textual) 3.5 stars…read more This being the second time I've tried them out, both times parked over at Two Roads brewing, I've gotta say that this might be the slowest, most poorly stocked truck I've ever eaten out of... The truck seems poorly managed in general but the sandwiches being pumped out, or trickled out, really are pretty darn good. Portion size is well up there with the price point and they taste great. Am I going to chase after them on the highway and stalk out their next location? Heck no, though I probably wouldn't do that for any other truck either... Wait a minute, I think I sorta have, never-mind. This time around after waiting on a line of about 8 people for a 25 minutes and then another ten minutes just waiting for the guy to write my order down, and another 20 minutes to get the damn thing made, I had it, the Reuben Cuban... But no fries, apparently the guy before me got the last bit of potato. No biggie, I get that it's a busy brewery and people gotta eat. Not much else around so the truck really was swamped. As a business I think they could use some no-brainer streamlining, hell get rid of the empanada, it's out of place anyway, or trim the menu, I don't know, but I've never waited an hour for food out of any truck before. Seriously took a large chunk of time out of the day. Otherwise the thing was good, I think it needed a better pastrami flavor as the pulled pork sort of overwhelmed the thing and that officiallay makes up half the sandwiches on the board, with a BBQ pulled pork and a Cuban, made with bacon... Just seems off. Overall a good deal for good food and you should try it because nothing else in the area will be better. I'm just thinking the redundancy makes for a smaller variety... Meanwhile the wait times don't align themselves properly at all.

We heard about the…read morebottomless mimosa brunch here at Cast Iron Chef Chop House & Oyster Bar so we pulled up to check it out! Here's how it went... Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right on the busy State Street is this gem. There's no private parking, but plenty of comfortable, spacious street parking right out front. Once inside you're immersed in a very fine-dining, elegant, laid-back atmosphere. Lots of woods, intimate-low lighting and upbeat music. I loved the vibes in here. The first room is your bar room where the rail is off to the left, but with plenty of seating to the right. If you continue through the room you enter the main dining room where it's all booths and other tables. Service: Stacey was our server. Things got off to a bit of a rocky start, but they smoothed out throughout the brunch. Food/Drinks: The mimosa was okay... It was REALLY strong because there's orange vodka and orange liqueur in it. It kinda killed the flavor for me because I'd prefer a traditional mimosa with minimal juice, but... no matter. They're bottomless... or supposed to be... Just be mindful of who your server is. Brunch can consist of a prix-fixed menu, which is what we did so we'll be going through that. First up were the Homemade Sausage Gravy and biscuits. These were super smothered and fantastic. Hot, savory, meaty, salty and even had a bit of a subtle sweetness. The biscuit was soft, butter and had crispy edges. Next up were the Cinnamon Rolls. These were HUGE. Lol. Like, how are we supposed to eat AND drink all of this stuff?! The exterior of the roll was crispy and the inside very soft. Not over-the-top sweetness or anything. These were very balanced. Next up were the Bananas Foster Pancakes. But this thing was enormous. It was so thick, like literally an inch thick. Lol. Fresh bananas sliced right on top, it cut like butter, was soft with the perfect crispy edges and these were AMAZING. Punch of sweetness up front, fluffy texture and just a great pancake. For dinner, this restaurant usually serves Cast Iron Popcorn instead of bread, so Stacey let us try it! It was smokey, a little-little sweet with a little bit of salt and maybe a hickory barbecue flavor. I liked it. Lastly, I chose the Steak & Eggs over Salmon & Eggs, but got to try both since my wife was with me. Each comes with gigantic fried potatoes, 3 eggs, a piece of toast, caramelized onions and your protein of choice. My steak was cooked perfectly (medium-rare). The flavors were excellent. It was a little fatty and just was done very well. Value: $64.96 for bottomless mimosas and the prix-fixe menu. Probably the best value brunch in the state. SO MUCH FOOD and strong drinks. I don't know what else you'd want! In conclusion, I really enjoyed myself here and have revisited since my first time! Everything was just as awesome as the first. Check this place out if you're in the area!
