We passed by on route to Brandford and decided to stop in for some sandwiches as we were famished. Staff seemed distracted and annoyed and not too friendly when asked if the roast beef was made in house. It's not, which is surprising to me given butcher section has many great cuts of meat. An in house made roast beef would be a way better option than Boars Head. The sandwhich selection was pretty decent and we decided on the Italian and the in house made meatball sandwich. Both were disappointing. The Italian had so little meat on it! The meatballs were meatloaf like slices and while the sauce was pretty good, the roll had not been toasted or grilled so it was a soggy mess. There are some tables and chairs inside to eat, which we did. Lots of meats in freezer section in a jumbled mess. They also have some produce available, sodas, chips, premade salads and more, but all items seemed quite pricey. They do olive oil refills here as well, but the staff I asked all said they did not use olive oil or know if this brand was good. Clean restroom and plenty of parking. I should have done two seperate reviews. I would give the butcher department a 4 and the deli a 4. For Christmas we had shrimp cocktail and some of the best filet mignon ever- both prepped perfectly as ordered. Also had chicken wings- flats only. These are JUMBO wings- best ever and not so easy to find! In full disclosure we had some initial problem with their meats years ago but clearly drastic improvements were made. DO NOT BE AFRAID of their shortrib burgers- epic every time! The deli seems fine and the mac, tuna mac and other salads are good- can't speak to sandwiches but I hope they will lose the Boars Head brand and do their own roast beef etc. read more

It's both a deli and a store of things like pasta, sauce, condiments and meats. Basically everything! The meat looked great and fresh. Ive heard people rave about their marinated steak tips which I plan to try in the future. Today, we got a thimble cutlet sandwich with bbq sauce on a grinder. It was huge! Apologies. Generally I have had good experiences there, but the last two times the food has been very lackluster. I don't have any pictures currently but I was trying to surprise my boyfriend with his favorite food (chicken cutlets) but didn't have time to make from scratch with my 40 hr work week.....stopped at shoreline to get them and spent $20 for borderline inedible cutlets with how dry.....yesterday I was feeling under the weather, didn't even go to work and thought I could make my partners life easier by supplying my own dinner. The service is so wonderful, these are kind and wonderful people as a rule. This amount of black bread is so unacceptable I literally had to take kitchen shears to the bread to make It edible....for a $14 sandwich......I love this business, and really want them to understand this is not a personal attack.....the roast beef wrap on their menu is probably the best I've ever had in my life. Stopped by this place on a Friday afternoon because we were in the area and looking for a sub. I've known about this place because people rave about how good their marinated steak tips are, I can confirm they are good. This place is similar to most delis, order at the counter and pay on the way out. We split the Thimble Island Cutlet Sub which was a good size sub of thin chicken cutlets, BBQ sauce, melted cheddar cheese and some bacon. Bacon was crispy and perfectly cooked along with the thin cutlets, just the way I like them. They have a bunch of other specialty sandwiches, great selection to choose from. What a pleasant surprise in Branford! Looking for lunch on the way east lead me to Shoreline Prime. I'm glad I took a chance. I enjoyed a steak and cheese deluxe, chips and Fresca (+500 points for having Fresca!) Instead of chopped steak, this version was made with steak tips. The garlic butter on the warm sub roll mixed with the melted cheese and produced a savory delight. Service was timely but the store was largely empty. I'll return. I few observations: the sandwich, chips and side with tax exceeded $20. Not cheap. The store is more than sandwiches. Very disappointing I went to Shoreline to get subs for lunch. I have had their food before and liked it. This time I was very disappointed. The subs did not seem fresh and the chicken parm sub was the worst I have ever seen... a thin overcooked chicken cutlet, a scant amount of sauce and no cheese of any kind. I've visited Shoreline Prime many times and always get the Stony Creek grilled chicken salad. Unfortunately for all the times I have ordered this, there has been very little consistency. On some occasions the container is packed full, barely able to be closed and other times it is barely filled up. For most visits, the staff has been welcoming and friendly. However, there was a visit or two where a staff member was quite rude. Im not sure if it was just a bad day but we all have those. While I can't say that I will stop visiting for the salad, I will say that I hope they become most consistent on my future visits. read more

Man, did I want to give these people a good review. This review is for a visit a few months ago; it took me a few months to decide whether or not I should post this review because I'm embarrassed I paid for my food. I went here to order a sandwich. I've been here before to buy some meat, so I was excited to come back for their food. Well, I never tasted my food. No one had a mask on and the guy who was making my sandwich let out one of those loud, open-mouth belches (which sounded like he threw up a bit in his mouth at the end) right over my sandwich. I didn't want to make a scene so, I paid for the expensive sub and threw it away as soon as I left. I love supporting local businesses but this is one place I'll never visit again. read more

It really pains me to write this review about what use to be my absolute favorite sandwich shop In Connecticut. I found it was really difficult to find a decent Steak and cheese sub. Until today I found this amazing sandwich at Shoreline Prime. The atrocity in the attached picture is what I received for a whopping $14.99. It's disappointing that they tried to pass this off as food and made me wait so long for this. I normally wouldn't mind an extra wait for something as good as what they use to offer. When I presented this to the store they gave me a long list of excuses including they were "extremely busy" (they weren't). They had maybe 3 customers and if standing around talking ignoring customers is what they mean by "busy" then they definitely were. The quality of this place (both service and quality of food) has gone down significantly since my last visit. When I mentioned that to the store they argued and said the quality hasn't gone down. Agree to disagree. Sometimes the truth hurts and people don't want to hear it. Well I hope this will be a wake up call to this store that use to have some of the best food and service around. They lost a good customer in me and hopefully they won't lose more customers. My daughters burger was also burned, and we when brought to their attention they tried to say it was the way in which I ordered the burger. I just said cheeseburger with pickles. I guess I should have specified "please don't burn it." My Mom's salad wasn't burned, so thank you for that. They didn't recall me ordering the salad even though I watched them write it down on the little pad, and they asked me a few times if I wanted chicken or not. Annoying but not the worst part of my experience. I think it just speaks more to the level of service you can expect here. Looks like I need to find a new place that makes amazing steak and cheese. Stopped in here today for a sandwich. It's Saturday and its between 12 - 1 pm so I'm not surprised it's crowded. I am surprised that the set up here isn't conducive to the line. It's a little difficult to figure out who might be next and the line can easily get in the way of the front door. The store is very neat, very clean. There is a small salad bar and the sandwich I got was delicious. That may seem strange for a deli sandwich but everything was amazingly fresh. The hard roll was soft, the cheese was finely sliced, the lettuce with crispy. Also you know how sometimes a deli sandwich is huge? Often you could have mad another sandwich with the extra meat? This sandwich was just right - a little bit more than you would have made for yourself but that's why you're getting a sandwich out rather than making it at home. Love Shoreline Prime! Sometimes I go in just to buy some cold cuts instead of going to the supermarket. I rather give the business to a local business that's family-owned. Or I'll go in for breakfast, sandwich or lunch sandwich. They also have excellent meats, steaks, chicken cutlets that you can use for your grill or making dinner. They have things like stuffed chicken ready to go. You just put it in the oven. They also have salads, potato, coleslaw, macaroni. They have the best mac and cheese. Usually they have some in the hot bar but also some cold. I usually go in for 1-2 items and leave with much more! They also have a lot of stuff in their freezer section too like ravioli but they also have specialty ravioli sometimes like lobster ravioli or they have pumpkin ravioli one time. The nicest people that work there a few times. They are rice balls in the case which I love! I had mentioned one time. Do you have them? And I believe it was the owner behind the counter who said I have them in the back. I can cook them up fresh for you and he did! He said if you ever want them just call ahead. If I have them I'll make them for you. They carry everything from bread, eggs, condiments. You could pretty much do mini shopping. Been looking for a butcher in southern CT for a while now. Really wanted to perfect my steak cooking like a pro and man, today I got two Delmonico ribeyes from shoreline prime, cooked them on the charcoal grill to a medium rare and a medium and the wife and I absolutely loved them! While somewhat on the pricey side, they were absolutely worth every dollar and then some. At fancy steakhouse I'd be paying around $100 for these two steaks instead of the $35 I handed over for them. And I cooked them the way I'd like and made sure they were seasoned correctly. Ordered a 4 foot sub to take on a boat for July 4th. The Manager, Camille, was super helpful and explained all of the options to us. Communication was excellent and the sub was so good. Waited 30 minutes for 2 simple wraps and then when I went to eat my wrap, Fell apart when I opened up the wrapping. Chicken was cold and not what I ordered. Asked for a hot Buffalo chicken wrap with chicken cutlet, American cheese and blue cheese in a wrap. Ended up with cold chicken not cut up, lettuce, croutons, some sort of cheese and no blue cheese. The first time we came here we placed an order for two sandwiches there were 6 people behind the counter at the time. After a half hour wait from when we placed our order we kindly asked how long the wait was. Wrong the roll was actually hard .. rock hard and it took them approx 35 min to place the salad onto said rock roll. AWFUL customer service. I am a long time customer who buys meat from this place WEEKLY (and it isn't cheap). I specifically placed an order for 4 THINLY sliced pieces of chicken breast and when I picked up my order, I thought the price was extremely high compared to what I typically pay. When I looked in the bag, there were 4 POUNDS of THICK chicken breast. I called to speak to the manager and received the following response - "we have kids taking the orders" as if this is an excuse for such a significant price difference? She told me she would "take back the product, but tomorrow is the deadline" and when I explained to her I live 30 minutes away, she told me there was nothing else she could do. First, it isn't sanitary to take back products especially in the middle of a pandemic, but it is also extremely inconvenient for me to drive an hour round trip out of my way for a mistake that they made. A simple credit to my card or store credit for a future purchase would have been the correct customer service action to take. After spending HUNDREDS of dollars there each month between take out sandwiches and meats, I will gladly take my business elsewhere. read more

Only complaints are that a few staff members have given me attitude while ordering for no reason and they don't have fresh hot coffee! If you want to pay top dollar for what you buy, I guess it's fine. I'd rather be able to deal with a person who really knows the cuts and can give you what you want. Today, I ordered the Thimble Island sandwich and my boyfriend got the steak and cheese. We were both starving so we opened our sandwiches right in the car, I take one look at my sandwich, the chicken cutlet is not only rock hard.. but slightly grey. I was so upset and I hate to be that person.. especially during these times where it's hard on restaurants, but had to say something. My boyfriend goes back in and politely shows them the sandwich and they said they'll make me another one and it'll be a few minutes. He comes back out to the car and like 3 minutes later, a worker brought the sandwich to the car. Here I am thinking, hopefully they checked the sandwich this time, or better yet, check the other chicken cutlets LOL nope. We started to drive away, and I open my sandwich AGAIN and what do you know... still a nasty, hard, grey chicken cutlet. At this point I'm at a loss for words, so a customer shows you bad meat and you serve it again. Why not check the cutlets first and be like you know they don't look too good, so let me offer you something else. Instead of serving nasty chicken.. twice. This place is staffed with kids who don't know anything about meat. The sandwiches are ok, but overpriced. Nothing is made here. Many if not all of their products are shipped in. It shows. Prepackaged sauces/spice mixes and eight dollar salsas. If you're just stopping in for a bite, it would likely be a pleasant enough experience. The problem is when you place a special order, or need to rely on them for something over $30 in price. You simply can't count on them to get it right, or at all as it were in my case. It happened to me personally on two occasions, over two separate years, under two sets of management. If I need to order a large cut of meat in advance, I will go elsewhere. Great deli with a central location. The steak and cheese sub is OUT OF THIS WORLD and you need to order it. This is not your ordinary steak and cheese with limp shaved steak and too many condiments. The steak is marinated, and these are actual STEAK TIPS. The sub is expensive at $10.99, but worth it. The prices here are expensive however overall it is because it is because of the quality food. Went here last weekend on the recommendation of a friend. They did not disappoint: 5 pounds of thin chicken breast for $30; great price! Also loved how fresh it was. I will say some of the chicken slices were too thin and will be a little hard to cook, but he was in a rush. I will come back and try again, since this will be our go-to meat place in the future.
