Here for lunch now! Some indoor tables and a bunch outside on the side of the building. Everyone we encountered was very friendly and helpful. It's both a deli and a store of things like pasta, sauce, condiments and meats. Basically everything! The meat looked great and fresh. Ive heard people rave about their marinated steak tips which I plan to try in the future. Today, we got a thimble cutlet sandwich with bbq sauce on a grinder. It was huge! Tasty and loved how the cutlets were very thin, two stacked. Lots of great sandwich options. We are coming back soon!

Apologies. Generally I have had good experiences there, but the last two times the food has been very lackluster. I don't have any pictures currently but I was trying to surprise my boyfriend with his favorite food (chicken cutlets) but didn't have time to make from scratch with my 40 hr work week.....stopped at shoreline to get them and spent $20 for borderline inedible cutlets with how dry.....yesterday I was feeling under the weather, didn't even go to work and thought I could make my partners life easier by supplying my own dinner. The service is so wonderful, these are kind and wonderful people as a rule. This amount of black bread is so unacceptable I literally had to take kitchen shears to the bread to make It edible....for a $14 sandwich......I love this business, and really want them to understand this is not a personal attack.....the roast beef wrap on their menu is probably the best I've ever had in my life. Wonderful food and quality, maybe take a closer look at who's cooking the food.

Stopped by this place on a Friday afternoon because we were in the area and looking for a sub. I've known about this place because people rave about how good their marinated steak tips are, I can confirm they are good. This place is similar to most delis, order at the counter and pay on the way out. We split the Thimble Island Cutlet Sub which was a good size sub of thin chicken cutlets, BBQ sauce, melted cheddar cheese and some bacon. Bacon was crispy and perfectly cooked along with the thin cutlets, just the way I like them. They have a bunch of other specialty sandwiches, great selection to choose from. Service was helpful and friendly, plenty of seating inside and a couple tables outside on their makeshift patio, will be back when in the area.

What a pleasant surprise in Branford! Looking for lunch on the way east lead me to Shoreline Prime. I'm glad I took a chance. I enjoyed a steak and cheese deluxe, chips and Fresca (+500 points for having Fresca!) Instead of chopped steak, this version was made with steak tips. The garlic butter on the warm sub roll mixed with the melted cheese and produced a savory delight. Service was timely but the store was largely empty. I'll return. I few observations: the sandwich, chips and side with tax exceeded $20. Not cheap. The store is more than sandwiches. Prepared foods and what looms to be a full butcher takes up the rest of the space along with many staples.

The best food and crew! Top Quality meats and delicious sandwiches. Steak & cheese and cutlets are our favorites.

Came here for a sandwich for lunch. They had a huge variety of options. I got the Italian Combo. The meat and cheese was high quality. The bread was also delicious. It was also a big enough for two meals if you are not a big eater. Plenty of parking and the staff was very friendly. They also have a large selection of beef including WAYGU steak at $60 a pound.

Very disappointing I went to Shoreline to get subs for lunch. I have had their food before and liked it. This time I was very disappointed. The subs did not seem fresh and the chicken parm sub was the worst I have ever seen... a thin overcooked chicken cutlet, a scant amount of sauce and no cheese of any kind. At $15.99 for a skinny cutlet on stale bread, I won't hurry back of if I go back at all. This place has gone downhill in my opinion. I used to like Shoreline and am very disappointed.

No mask? " can't breathe". So where are the protocols to protect us?
    Jay B.

I have been a longtime customer with regular visits for my favorites. Unfortunately this will end unless they take precautions seriously. No gloves on people behind counter, cook saying can't breathe. That as an excuse for no covering of face. Just a tip of what I saw that says they don't care!

Drove by many times and decided to try today. The staff were so personable and friendly. I had questions about the menu and they had great recommendations. I ordered the Thimble Island sandwich which exceeded expectations and added a chocolate chip cookie which they bake. That was awesome as well!! I'll be back to shop their grocery store and get more lunches!!

Stopped in to get some macaroni salad. Pretty much just elbows noodles and a stray pepper No Mayo. No nothing. Not sure how they call macaroni salad.

The couple's mission is to give customers a gourmet restaurant experience right on the street or from the comfort of their own homes. This past weekend was the wedding of my brother and sister-in-law at Stewards of the Land Brewery in Northford. It just so happens that they booked the Chef Truck to provide the food for the reception. I had previously sampled some of Chef John's delicious food when I attended an exclusive 'Foodie Influencer' event a few months back at the same brewery. I was not disappointed then and I certainly wasn't this time. The first course featured an Autumn Salad (salad greens, sliced apples, gorgonzola, pancetta) and bowls of Pumpkin Bisque. Both dishes really hit the spot. The next course featured Chicken n' Waffles, Mac n' Cheese Fritters, and Cheese-stuffed Squash Blossoms. Everything was perfect! The final course was served buffet style and included the "Mississippi Mac Attack" (slow-cooked pulled pork over Mac n' Cheese with Scallions) and "General Tso's Chickpeas" (crispy chickpeas, tofu & broccoli tossed in sweet & spicy sauce over jasmine rice). Everything was so flavorful. I think that the second course may have been my favorite. Another great culinary experience from Chef John! If you happen to see the Chef Truck parked at your favorite brewery or winery in New Haven County then you won't be disappointed!

But I'm calling a New Haven Cafe a Hidden Gem -- The Farm Belly. The Farm Belly ("FB") is a farm-to-table cafe in the Fair Haven neighborhood of New Haven. I was recently researching New Haven breakfast spots, and FB came up with a 4.6 Star rating in Yelp, and a 4.8 Star rating on Google. Strong ratings! My sausage, egg and cheese biscuit was delicious. FB posts its Farm Partners right on the wall. My eggs were from @thefarmerscow and the chives were from @beckettfarm . The space is cute and the atmosphere is inviting. FB is adjacent to the Quinnipiac River and some tables have river views. Service was terrific. I spoke with the owners. Love them. For all these reasons, I'm calling The Farm Belly a gem. Since I spend a lot of time on the New Haven restaurant scene, I was surprised the FB name didn't ring a bell at first. There are two primary reasons for that. One, this section of Fair Haven is tucked away in one of the more quiet areas of New Haven, and out-of-towners are more focused on other busier areas of NH. Two, FB's signs don't stand out as you drive by. FB is located in a historical building called "King's Block", and that name still appears out front. There are a couple of small "Farm Belly" signs, but you might miss them if you're driving. Since "King's Block" has served as a hotel, church, fish store, etc. since it was constructed in 1816, you might not even notice that it's a cafe. For these reasons, I think "Hidden" applies as well. The Farm Belly is a Hidden Gem in my book. It's open for breakfast, lunch, coffee and treats 6 days a week.

The place had a few people in, but I was quickly helped! I placed an order initially for the chicken, broccoli, rabe, but they were out of some ingredients (which makes sense, looks like they were processing some large orders) so I instead opted for a chicken bomb, one of their hot sandwiches. I went for a sub (over a roll) and got a drink, my total came out to around $22. I grabbed my drink from the side fridge, and was told it would take a few minutes. There are a few tables and a TV playing, so a nice place to wait, and eat if you're in a hurry. There are also several tables outside which would be nice to eat at in the warmer months. Quickly, my sandwich was ready and warm! The person working gave me a bag which she had added napkins to. The sandwich was significantly bigger than expected. Honestly for me, two meals but easily could have been three. Generous with portions of everything too. I will definitely be back to try more of their sandwiches and their pizzas!

I haven't been back in a while because they have VERY limited hours: only Tuesday through Saturday from 10:30 am until 3 pm. I happened to have a day off from work, so I was able to get to the market in the early afternoon. I ordered their "Chicken Cutlet & Broccoli Rabe" sub on fresh Italian bread with melted mozzarella. It was phenomenal! I decided to make the most of my visit and ordered a large "Mozzarella Pizza" to bring home for my family for dinner. Not long after ordering the pizza, I overheard a staff member yell out, "No more pizza orders." They had run out of dough for the day, and I got my pizza order in just in time. My family and I were also planning on going to the beach the following day, so I decided to order a couple of more deli sandwiches to bring along. I ordered an "Italian Dream" (prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, roasted pepper, Stella table cheese) for myself and an "Italian Combo" (ham, salami, pepperoni, provolone) for my wife. My family and I all enjoyed the pizza later that day for dinner, and my wife and I loved the sandwiches at our beach trip the following day. There aren't too many Italian markets like this left. Del Monaco's is a real gem and I highly recommend stopping by for one of their delicious Italian sandwiches or a tasty pizza pie.
