Tyacke Motors - Suzuki carry (kei truck) 1993

I purchased a one-of-a-kind, pristine Tacoma from Tyacke Motors and had a great experience from…read morestart to finish. Communication with Stayton was excellent throughout the entire process. After the truck was delivered to Hawaii, I noticed that the front skid plate was missing. I contacted Stayton to see if it may have been accidentally removed while the truck was being detailed. If not, my next step was going to be contacting the companies responsible for transporting the truck to the port and shipping it from port to port. Stayton explained that the skid plate was on the truck when it left his possession and that he wasn't sure what happened to it afterward. Despite this, he stepped up and offered to pay for a replacement, even though the situation was outside of his control and ultimately not his responsibility. That kind of integrity is rare, especially in the car business. Stayton chose to do the right thing simply because it was the right thing to do, and I'm extremely appreciative of businesses and owners like Tyacke Motors. If you Google "an honest car dealer," Tyacke Motors should be the first result. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a dealership that truly stands behind its customers.

I will definitely come back here for my next used car…read more I have always wanted a kei truck since high school and saw one on the lot at Tyacke. The time at the dealership was quick and we got to drive it home about an hour after we got to the dealership. Then I had some back news where Tyacke was able to come in and go above and beyond. The next day I brought it home - the truck would not start up. I was devastated as I was really excited about the vehicle. I knew that a used car dealer had no obligation to help when I bought a 30yr old car as is. I reached out to Chris just to let him know what was going on and how I felt. Chris offered to take the car and look at it for me and found that there was a huge issue with the engine. What shocked me is that he gave me an option at that point - we could undo the sale and I could go on my merry way - or they could help get it running again with a new engine they located. I chose to trust Chris and see how far the repair path would go, I really wanted this thing running again! It took longer than either of us expected but. This went above and beyond to be fair throughout the process even covering payments for the car while it was in the shop for a few months. While the process was a few months, I got my truck back running better than ever! I think it can be hard to find people with integrity and looking to do the right thing for customers and the community - Chris and Tyacke have it all.

On the day of her appointment, she arrived and the car was not there because it had been sold. That part is understandable but the person she was supposed to meet also wasn't there. Nobody called her and she wasted over $100 in Uber getting there and getting home. Fast forward to a week later. Apparently the car came back for reasons unknown. They reached out to me and rescheduled the appointment for my daughter to see she had to spend another $50 to Uber back there but this time the car was there and the salesman was there. This transaction went fairly smoothly. Everyone I spoke to was nice. There was just that minor failure to communicate, which cost us some money. We did purchase the car. Overall, I would give them another shot if I wanted to purchase a car.

1 star for Ken Garff as a company. 5 stars for Jason and the service staff…read more I want to make that distinction very clear because the employees I dealt with at Ken Garff Honda of Orem were kind, patient and professional, especially Jason, the service manager. The alignment they performed was also good and the vehicle drives noticeably better. My issue is with Ken Garff's paperwork and the company's response when I raised concerns about it. My original estimate included an unexplained $12.99 "parts" charge for an alignment. After I questioned it, the charge was removed. More importantly, the service authorization contained language stating that the dealership is not responsible for "loss or damage to my vehicle," while another portion referred to damage "not caused directly by the Dealership." When I questioned this, I was verbally told that the dealership would still be responsible for damage it caused. My problem was simple: that is not what the paperwork clearly says. I was willing to pay for the work performed, but I would not sign vague language that I wasn't comfortable agreeing to. Jason was incredibly patient about this. We ultimately agreed that I could cross out the terms I would not accept, and both of us signed the modified paperwork. That is why Jason and the staff get 5 stars from me. They listened, treated me respectfully and worked with me rather than pressuring me to sign. Ken Garff as a company gets 1 star. I later raised the disclosure issue publicly and Ken Garff responded by thanking me for my "insights about the paperwork," without actually addressing the wording I had questioned. If the company's position truly is that it remains responsible for damage caused by its employees, I don't understand why the disclosure can't simply say that clearly. I don't think customers should have to argue over vague legal language just to have their vehicle serviced. Jason and the staff deserve recognition--and honestly a raise--for how professionally they handled the situation. My criticism is directed at the corporate policies and paperwork they are being asked to work with. I strongly encourage anyone having a vehicle serviced here to read every page before signing. If you don't understand or agree with something, ask about it. Don't sign something simply because you're told it's standard paperwork.
