They are always honest about their pricing, even when it is higher than other garages in the area. They have explained to me why they would charge what they do, and if I can't afford that, where to go for cheaper service. Because of their honesty on that front, I trust their judgment and pay them more. So heads up, service may cost more here, but I felt like they were honest with why. read more

My time at Clegg Auto was short but sweet! My car started making a loud unpleasant noise, so I brought it in. I was helped instantly and a mechanic took it for a test drive to hear the problem. He diagnosed it very quickly, and it turned out that I needed to go to a more specialized shop to have it fixed. I went to Clegg because my passenger side window wouldn't roll up and because my driver side door wouldn't open from the outside. To keep it brief, we ended up having to take my car in 4 times to finally fix both issues. Some of these reasons being that the Clegg team failed to fully inspect the passenger window issue and didn't order the parts to fully fix the issue (which we had to point out to them that the problem wasn't 100% fixed after picking the car up), ordering the wrong part for my door handle (no research was done on my car and what part was needed), and then having to take the car back in to fix a part that they had just replaced because it kept getting stuck (they didn't even realize it was doing this, making me unsure that they even double check what they do). They sent us home on multiple occasions with nothing fixed on the car. It was frustrating to say the least. I will say that the Clegg team was great in handling these issues. Every time I called I felt heard and understood. If you decide to go into Clegg, PLEASE double check their work because if we had not, my car would still have had the same problems that we went in with. UPDATE: I have a lot of respect for the manager of this auto shop. His name is Jason; he called me about my experience to apologize about everything that happened and they ended up refunding the 400 dollar fix. I wish it came a bit sooner, but it really seems like they have tried to make things right. Props to them for really caring about the customer. I've been a customer of Cleggs for about 5 years, I liked them a lot but I unfortunately cant trust them anymore. I had them fix the rack and pinion for my car recently, however, when I got the car back the steering wheel was off-center and everything felt loose. I brought the car back in to make sure they had done everything correctly and they proceeded to tell me that the control arm bushing on the drivers side had a problem and that I would have to spend an extra 400 dollars to fix it (which was never a problem before I brought it in). I had to take it back for that issue, and when I received the car back after they were done, the problems were still not fixed. The steering was still loose and I didnt have much control of the car. At this point I took it to a different auto shop to have them look at it and they told me that there was a bolt that was completely missing on the rack and pinion and there were a few others that were loose. I took the car to Cleggs AGAIN, and they confirmed that their first tech missed the bolt and didn't tighten the other ones (they also didnt put the rack and pinion boot on correctly, it is not sealed well and will not stay on). Missing bolts on a steering part for a car is obviously dangerous, I'm just glad I didn't get into an accident. Overall, I spent about 2300 dollars for them to do a lousy job, put me in danger, and I had to go to their shop 3 times to get things figured out. In the end, all they had to say for it was "my bad". Literally, the tech put that on the paper they gave back to me. I cant in good faith recommend them anymore, or be a customer. read more

They said it was a different problem and it cost me $1000. After fixing, the issue was still there. They then drove it and said it was a different issue and it will cost me $300 to fix it!! At first they told me they weren't positive what the problem was and I paid $460 for something when they said that might not even fix it so that wasn't reassuring at all but it ended up fixing the problem and it turned out to be totally worth it! TL; DR They'll price gauge you for a cheaper part for your car and proceed to either be completely incompetent OR slimy and do enough just to squeeze more money out of you. My car broke down and my master technician father in law and I walked through what the problem was. My car ended up needing to get towed and a new starter put in. Starters for my chevy impala run me at MOST $190 for a GM part, a 30 minute job at most according to my father in law. So all that being said I was thinking this wasn't going to break our bank account and I could still get my 1 year old her medicine and afford some food without having to go the food bank. Turns out that was a fat NOPE. After detailing everything saying they needed to do on it, which included an electrical test for $49 (Even after talking to my father in law about it) they still wanted to do the test. They quoted me for $670!!! For a starter job?? Seriously? A high end for that job is at least 300-400 for it all. After fixing it and telling me it was all ready to go, they told me the price was $698 total. The starter was $372 for just the part, and none of what they charged me made any sense! They were making a quick buck off of me and they knew I needed my car to get to work so they charged me an additional money to get the job done. A 30-45 minute job for $198 of labor is pretty ridiculous. So after just breaking my bank just to get my car back I drive for a weekend and go to get into my car to go to work and we were right back to where we started. One click and no power to the engine.. I was mad and called them to see what the heck was going on and what did i spend a fortune on to get this fixed only for it to just not work. They said "they had my back" and sent their manager to come look at the car, I live 2 blocks away from the shop so he got to me pretty quick. He jumped my car and it started, he said to bring it to the shop and he'd do ANOTHER electrical test. Turns out after standing there for 10 minutes to see what was an obvious problem they should have noticed the first time.. My battery connectors were corroded and weren't tightened back up properly. They tried to absolve themselves of blame, but that's bullcrap. In order to get to my cars starter you have to remove the connectors to the battery, at least the negative one. And proceeded to tell me that they would need an additional $28 to get those replaced. I said no to paying for the mistake THEY made and overlooked. read more

I went in to the Provo shop to get my Pathfinder looked at. Coolant was leaking from heater core assembly. I need to see what needs to be done. They wanted to do a peasure test to see where it was leaking. Already knew where it was. This is what Devan put in for what I requested "LABOR TO PERFORM HYDROCARBON TEST AND CHECK THE CONDITION OF THE ENGINE HEAD/GASKETS AFTER VEHICLE HAS BEEN OVERHEATED TO DETERMINE IF IT HAS DAMAGED THE CYLINDER HEADS AND LABOR TO PRESSURE TEST AND CHECK FOR COOLANT LEAKS AND THEN ADVISE AS NEEDED TO REPAIR." What BS is this? The last sentence is the only thing I asked. Said they would call me with the findings? Nope text message. So I look at the estimate. WTH? List of what they say is wrong. 1. Replace heater hose 2. Replace heater core with A/C Cost $2025 Wow! Nothing is wrong with the heater core. So I call Devan. He starts out telling me you have to replace the core and the hose assembly. For the next 5 minutes I explain no, they are separate parts. He puts me on hold to talk so someone "who really knows". 5 minutes later he says he will have to call me back. Nope. Text with new quote and new findings.. right replace list: 1. Heater core with A/C 2. heater hose bypass assembly 3. heater hose Se--- 4. heater hose-- So still not understand I dont want the heater core replaced. He still adds it. But now they want to replace the heater hose bypass assembly. -- NO THERE IS not a bypass. If I was going to bypass the heater core, why would I need a Heater core??? What is heater hose Se-- and heater hose--??? Cost went up. (not sure what, they removed it) $602 for the part heater core bypass assembly. So I call devan again. I explain I think we are talking about different things. So he sends me a video that I had already seen. Yep thats the "Heater Core Assembly" i explained. That price is for 5-6 of them, he says I dont make the prices. I explain its not a bypass and I am pretty sure you not getting the right part. They are on the market from $98 to $214. He says he is going to check with someone. Comes back very quickly and says thats what it is. So, I go and pick it up. Paid $70 to find out what I already knew.. fun The ensure me that they did a pressure. No mention of HYDROCARBON TEST . Nothing He was not open to talking about it. Nor was he is boss, boss just walked away while I was explaining that his communication needs some work. Asked him about all the random parts added on. Like what? he says. I just picked something small. Why do I need to coolant caps? His response blew me away that I just had to leave. "We recommend to replace the radiator and reservoir caps after pressure test." Never was told that. Now I have paid he tells me something he would have not told me. Just imagine what other things would have been recommended by the time I had this fixed. Very long and there's some much more. Just blows my mind. Just flat out has no idea what he is talking about, but assures me these are the right parts. It changed 4 times. List of all the items they found wrong: All fluid is low needs fuel treatment Engine oil leak Coolant Leak Drivetrain leak --want to steam clean the engine. I trust these guys and appreciate the way they explain things and treat me. We had our AC recharged. They were upfront about costs, and explained everything to us. They do have the machine to service our 2019 Subaru, which requires a newer machine. They completed the work in a timely manner. I also like that they have an online payment option for parents who are out of state. They were also very friendly. UPDATE: Response to "Dawn." I think your tech took poor notes, or you have my account mixed with someone else's. 1. The estimates were not worst-case scenarios, because you only provided an estimate on an alternator when I asked it. There were not even multiple alternators estimated. This also doesn't excuse your insane prices. 2. I absolutely was not "picky" about any parts. You didn't put any parts on my vehicle. This part made me laugh. I truly have no idea what you're referencing, so, classic gaslighting a customer. Rip offs. Tim is the one who will call and talk to you like a shmoozer about needing hundreds of dollars approved in diagnosing before they can work on anything. They know full well you can take it somewhere else for $85/hr vs their $140/hr insanely inflated labor charge. I called around about an alternator and from three different shops received the quote: $0-85 and one hour tops diagnosis. 1.5 hours TOPS for an alternator labor, no more than $400 for the part (can get at autozone for $325) . Vs Clegg's: 2.5 hours labor $470 part 2 hrs diagnosing ($280) When I started asking questions like what my alternator was charging to, Tim condescendingly threw a ton of industry acronyms my way to show off his ego about knowing more than me and me just needing to trust them. Absolute barf. I'll warn everyone I can about them. I had them charge it and I drove it to Doug's who took care of me respectfully at half the price, no inflated egos, and 100% equal quality. read more

I am not sure why there's some people on here who are upset, I've been doing business with Clegg's for well over 10 years now and have never had anything but an absolute pleasure. They are accurate, reliable, respectful, trustworthy, and knowledgeable. I think there's another "Clegg" across town who isn't as much, but I'm being straight when I say I'd drive any distance to have my truck worked on by these guys. In fact, I did. Used to live in Logan and would wait for maintenance to have them do it when I was down on business, because I struggled to find a mechanic I trusted even a 10th as much as I do Clegg's. I took my truck in because it had an oil leak. I knew it was the rear main seal, and told them so before they started working on it. They insisted on doing a steam and dye service to make sure, which cost me $100. Then treated a different problem with the oil pan and told me it was fine. I'm still losing over 1/4 qt of oil per month. Jiffy Lube just told me my rear main seal is leaking for free. The guys there treated me like a dumb kid. Save yourself the time and money. read more

I will be going here from now on for any car repairs! I brought my car in on a Tuesday and it was done on Thursday. I was able to make an appointment online, drop my car off, and they made sure to call me everyday to keep me updated on the status of my car. It's really nice that you have the option to accept and decline certain things to be done to your car and everything that needs to be done is easily laid out on the link they send you. I've been coming to Clegg's Provo for the last 5 years. I usually get great service and honest repairs. However, the last two times I've brought in my vehicles I have had poor service and untrustworthy experiences. For example, I knew my power steering pump was winning when it was cold in the winter. My car was in the shop for a diagnostics test on my exhaust and catalytic converter. When I picked the up the vehicle the power steering pump sounded horrible and had failed. How? They said that's how it sounded when I dropped it off which was not true. Next I bring my second vehicle to see why there was a sound coming from the wheel, bearing, or breaks. They inspected it and said there was no sound on their test drive. I came and drove the vehicle and sure enough the sound was still there. When I asked them if I could show them the sound on a test drive they said they'd have to charge a "diagnostics fee" ($140) to move this to a technician who is on the diagnostic team and who has "more experienced ears." I guess they don't pay their other technicians for test drives around the block or the other technicians can't hear properly... I'll be taking my vehicles elsewhere in the future. read more

you could not find a worse place if you tried. I've spent thousands of dollars here only to have them create more problems. first, I decided to have my oil changed here. 3 months later I found out they stripped my oil pan by tightening the bolt too much, and it cost me $400 to get a new oil pan. Then they sealed it worse than hellen Keller. Required me to take it a better shop (so literally any shop) to have it resealed so it wouldn't shop. Unfortunately, they replaced my headlight ballast a year ago. I drove it in the rain ~ 4 months later and the headlight AND the horn went out. Took it in to have it warrantied, which was painless. Fast forward to last August, it went out again in a car wash. I took it in to have it fixed and after push back they said they would warranty it again but never again. This week, it was raining heavily and my light went out AGAIN. So, I took it in to my new mechanic to have him see what is going on, and it made me laugh in anger. The absolute mouth breather of mechanics never replaced the headlight rear cover. No wonder water was ruining the car. Not to mention the inconvenience of not being open Saturday's or after 6, this place sucks. I've wasted $700 on them from the initial repair of my headlight, to only have to replace it somewhere else. I've literally pissed away $1100 in repairs that had to be redone by a better mechanic. An absolute disgrace and embarrassment of a shop from top to bottom. 4 of my friends and family have taken their business elsewhere from these stories, and so should you. Don't come within 100 feet of their front door, and especially their garage. read more

My daughter's engine light came on while she was out of state, so not knowing the mechanics in the area we helped her look through the Yelp and Google reviews. The Toyota dealership in the area didn't have great reviews, so we looked for an independent mechanic. It turned out that she needed a couple of new coils on her RAV4, and Cleggs offered to fix just those coils at a reasonable price. She also had a quote from another well-rated mechanic, and they were very nice, but they only offered to replace ALL the coils at four times the amount Clegg's was charging, without giving her the option of only replacing the bad coils. For a penny-pinching college student, we really appreciated that Clegg's offered a cheaper option. I was able to pay over the phone, and they made the whole situation easy for us. read more

If you're a girl going in by yourself fully expect them to also take advantage of that. I have for many years I have hopped from one mechanic to another looking for a good honest place that I can routinely visit. I am can say with certainty that Clegg Auto is my place. I have been taking my cars into them to get routine and preventative maintenance done now for about to years, and am very happy. When I go to Cleggs, I know that I can always count on their employees to be honest and fair.
