Back again! I have a two car garage/shop that is a tubular metal building. Early on I had these guys redo the trim on the garage door and entry door which was exactly what I wanted. Since they are so good at manufacturing sheet metal to spec I decided to frame out overhead storage and a new floating workbench and shelf underneath. Richard consulted with me on several occasions to ensure the frame was sufficient and included features that would make sure the sheet metal application would work well and look beautiful. Overall mixed experience working with Pruden Roofing in collaboration with Pace Avenue. They were quick initially with the job and getting things in place, but when it comes to ending and then any follow-up after that, it's not so great. Which personally to any homeowner, the ending and follow-ups are sometimes the most important to show continued good customer service, and being able to trust a company with any work done. After having my roof replaced, the surrounding job site around the home was a mess despite the promise to keep debris and the area around the home clean. There were literally nails throughout the whole outdoor area of our home and not to mention debris from them tearing and just throwing the old shingles off the roof to anywhere around the home - backyard, side yard, you name it, there were pieces all over. And if you know how shingles are, even if it doesn't break into smaller pieces, you're guaranteed with LOTS and LOTS of asphalt from the asphalt shingles. The combination of nails and asphalt around a home where there's a pet dog and a young child is definitely unappreciated. A Pace Ave rep (mind you not the roofing company) did come out after that and used a magnetic strip to collect all the nails, but nothing could be done with the asphalt mess. Nonetheless, some nails would appear every now and then. A year later, I'm now having an issue with gutters that are so full of debris and despite the willingness to come out and take a look (since the roofers did NOT cover the cutters when they removed the old asphalt shingles), they have not follow through and hence why this review is in order. And I think this kind of review is crucial to give proper feedback as it's not the immediate moment after the work is done that is important but after that as well. Gutters that had no problem before roof replacement is now growing with some weeds, and heavy with debris - could it be all from just the wildfires? I doubt it as the layer of soot from the wildfire isn't going to leave that much when it would also be washed away. Also, see the attached picture of how shingles are not overlapping and allowing underlayment to be exposed in the first shingles layer. Is this how roofs is to be installed properly? (Updated June 15th, 2021) Thanks for the response, but you took a whole week to respond despite me responding immediately. Time is money and I can't be sitting around leaving my schedule free for a supposed meeting that wasn't confirmed until 2 days before that you finally responded. I will have another third party look at it again it may be true that there's an issue and it's not deemed so, and I get charged anyway since right now, I can't trust your word either when the proper service would be to follow up accordingly, check, instead of the continuous back and forth about maybe this contract did this or that. Would have protected yourself if pictures were taken at the end of the work. Still does not address the initial issues immediately after the roof replacement. So there you have it everyone, a company who seeks to avoid what they could. read more

Was most pleased from the time of the initial telephone contact with Larry, the project manager, until the finished project with a new roof install. Our harsh winter postponed the project, but after I checked with our city's building department and discovered that my roof was 25 years old, I opted for a new roof before the solar panels were put on. When Larry called, we set a date, their team arrived, and the roof was finished in one day. Clean up was well done. The permit was already taken care of, and the local building inspector was here, shortly after the project was finished, and job approved. I cannot say enough great thing about Richard and his crew. They were on task, on time, worked all day every day until the job was done. They cleaned up at the end of every day, and are very courteous. Richard is very knowledgable, and incredibly honest. His estimate was spot on, as well as timing. I met Tim Rubino with Pruden Roofing while they worked on my neighbor's house. They did such a great job for my neighbor I had Tim come give us a quote. He detailed the process and got back to us with the schedule. 2 weeks later they started on our house with the original 35 yr old shake roof. The finished product exceeded our expectations. The crews cleaned up after themselves everyday which was important to us. We've already noticed a huge difference in our electric bill due to the added insulation and heat reflective materials used. I have to give a special LONG-TERM thanks to Pruden Roofing. A few years ago, Pruden roofing helped me select the perfect color and design for our new roof on a tight budget. They pointed out some of the flaws of the original roof design, and showed me how they had made improvements. I ended up selling that house this past winter. Right at the zero hour when we were about to close, and large storm came through our town. There was a leak in the garage. I immediately called Pruden roofing. The owner of the company was at my house the next day working with my agent and the inspector. They spent several hours testing the roof to realize that the leak was actually an issue with the siding, NOT the roof. It's nice to know that a company like Pruden Roofing will stand by there work, and commit the time and energy to do so knowing there is no financial reward on the back end. Prudent roofing did my roof five years ago. It developed a small leak in the big storm where the pool thermal panels are attached. This was expected and we didn't do the maintenance quite soon enough. Despite having so much work to do after the storm, Richard and Corey recaulked all the panel struts for a reasonable price. DO NOT USE PRUDEN ROOFING: They created an invoice/bid with my builder, without my approval and or authorization. (I never executed the contract) Once I learned that the roof wasn't approved with my HOA, I stopped the job and my builder at the time canceled the contract in writing. Pruden Roofing is actively pursuing me for costs and expenses for a roof that was NEVER APPROVED with the community HOA, NOR WAS THE BID REVIEWED, APPROVED, OR EXECUTED BY MYSELF. I am now forced to get my legal council involved, as PRUDEN ROOFING continues to force threats of a legal situation with the hopes of obtaining payment for a job never approved by myself or the community HOA nor was the roof completed. This is the WORST roofing company I have ever delt with. I got a 2 year roof certification from them when I bought my house. 1 year in I noticed tiles ready to fall off if my roof, after looking closer I could see leakage. I called Pruden many times for over a 2 month period and could not get anyone to answer thier phone. I left messages every time and no one would ever returned any of my calls. In February, they were contracted to reroof a duplex in Ione for the seller. When the roof was torn off the inspector, Kevin, came out and told the roofers were to replace the dry rot. When he came back out next, the inspector expected to be inspecting all new OSB in the areas indicated. However, he came back to a fully roofed house. They left rotten rafter tails and section under the overhang that was clearly dry-rotted. As the buyer, I did a walkthrough and noticed these areas so I called the office and a lady relayed my message to a man who I proceeded to send photos to. He insisted that the areas were good and passed inspection but failed to let me know that the inspection of the OSB was never done because the reroof had already been done. I called out the pest inspector to reinspect and he indeed confirmed dryrot. The contractor corresponded with the agents to charge another $360 to repair the areas he should have repaired the first time. We went ahead and paid it and assumed all was well. After recording the title, I went back out to find the section of OSB that was rotted had not been replaced. I let the inspector know and he red-flagged this company. They have never returned my calls. read more

We are getting solar panels on our home and Pruden Roofing was hired through our solar company to re-roof a portion of our roof where the solar panels are going to be placed. Richard contacted me and let me know that they could do our whole roof for a relatively low additional price; however, my husband and I just could not afford it at the time and Richard didn't push us about it. Well, the day came for Pruden Roofing to re-roof our home and they worked fast and hard and got our roof done in just a few days. They even swept up the debris in our yard! My in laws were in need of a new roof for their home. Unfortunately, as they are elderly, they have been taken advantage of over the years for various home improvement projects. This was almost the case when it came time to look for a roofing company. After two very high bids my husband and I got involved and contacted Pruden Roofing on the recommendation of a family friend. Richard, the owner, personally came out to do the inspection and provide a bid. It came in well below the previous bids and in line with what our research suggested it should cost. Once we gave the okay they got us on the calander in a timely manner. Richard's employees were very contientous in making sure to tidy up when leaving for the day and were very patient with my in laws with the many questions they asked during the process. Pruden Roofing replaced my tile roofing after an addition to my home. The contractor doing the addition noticed several broken tiles around my air conditioner that is mounted on my roof. After a total inspection of the roof, it was obvious that the entire roof was in need of replacement. I was quoted a price for tear off of 3 layers of roofing, new plywood and a new comp roof from several roofing companies. After my homework was done, I contacted Pruden Roofing. Richard Pruden explained the process, timeline, and start and proposed finish dates. The tear off crew arrived on time and were done in less than a day. When the trailer was removed from my driveway, there was not a trace of the removal on the ground. The next morning the crew arrived and the process of a new roof began. Not only did the roof begin on time, it was finished a day ahead of schedule and is beautiful. I highly recommend Pruden Roofing if you are in need of a new roof. My experience with Pruden Roofing was less than stellar. So what should have been a 3 day job they tried to compress into a 2 day job. They were paid to put insulation in the whole roof and they decided to only do half of it. I had another contractor who alerted me to this fact. They didn't close any holes in the attic into the interior and as a result fiberglass was falling out of the ceiling through my cabinet and onto my stove where it might have been consumed. The city roof inspector had to come out 3-4 times cause they did all the gas vents wrong which could have caused carbon monoxide poisoning if it hadn't been caught. They used open venting so the gas (hot water, and furnace) could have poured back into the dwelling. And when they did the furnace vent tube, they nailed it with roofer nails which left holes for additional carbon monoxide to potentially fill in the attic. The owner had a major attitude problem I wanted them to do it right the first time but it seems their team likes to half ass things over and over until it meets city inspection. I would stay as far away from this establishment as clearly pride in their work is clearly not their top priority. How they were hired was through Solar City. I complained to Solar City, but all I got was a shocked sounding voice and I'm sure no repercussions were ever felt by Pruden Roofing. So here is the final kicker, when Pruden Roofing finally came out to do the second half of my house insulation they stepped on the duct work crushing it and allowing insulation to get into duct work and fall into my guest bathroom. So getting out of the shower you have to inspect the floor to make sure you're not stepping on insulation. I'm not even going to reach out to them about this cause my experience with the owner was so bad I am just going to pay for it myself out of pocket to be replaced. read more
