We saved for a while and, like most people, shopped around for quotes. We got quotes from 6 different roofers. We have a roughly 1600 sq ft home and were quoted upwards of $23K for a roof replacement by some companies. This was not including any potential dry rot replacement or gutters, of which we figured there may have been some dry rot. We were getting really stressed out not only because of the prices we were quoted, but the lack of connection as well. This was a huge investment on our part and, while perfectly cordial, most interactions felt surface-level. That was until we had the opportunity to meet Josue. You won't find anyone else who will work harder or care more about making sure you feel comfortable and informed throughout the entire process while also offering the most affordable prices. COST: More than reasonable. After we shopped around for quotes, he not only had the best price, but also the best value. Hands down the best "bang for your buck" if this is your top priority. While very conscientious of making sure no materials were wasted and walked us through every step of the process. COMMUNICATION: Josue is not only extremely communicative, he is also a pleasure to speak to. He will get back to you within 24 hours and will answer every question you may have and address any concern as well. He is kind, professional, comprehensive, and speedily gets back to you. WORK CREW/QUALITY OF WORK: Josue's team worked expeditiously and was very mindful to make sure that any "mess" left behind was picked up at the end of each work day so we wouldn't find ourselves inconvenienced by any mess. They were sure to blow any debris away and had a large trailer to dump everything. Whenever I spoke to anyone on the crew they were each kind and communicative as well. A direct reflection/extension of what you would experience in your interactions with Josue. He really has a wonderful team. As far as the quality of work goes, the roof looks truly amazing. We are incredibly happy with the work and thankful we found Josue. Initially, we weren't sure which shingle color we would use and without hesitating, Josue offered to drop off several samples for us to use and compare so we could confidently select what we felt was best for us. The roof looks clean and is marvelously crafted. UNFORESEEN OBSTACLE: We did have a permit issue with the city regarding an overhang attachment to our home, but again, Josue went up to bat for us. I was very stressed out to hear we would not be able to move forward with this area of the house (not Josue's fault), and he calmly and patiently walked me through the process and told me not to worry that his crew could come back and knock out the area quickly at a later time. PERSONAL NOTE: Nowadays it feels rare to have such an exceptional experience with a company of any sort. It's a really big purchase and everything can admittedly seem stressful and you're worried about making such a large investment, but I'm happy to say that was not our experience with Josue and his team. They went above and beyond the call to make sure we felt comfortable, informed, taken care of, and heard. Josue even lent us his dumpster so we could get rid of a lot of personal waste we had in our backyard (of which there was a ton). They were…read morequick initially with the job and getting things in place, but when it comes to ending and then any follow-up after that, it's not so great. Which personally to any homeowner, the ending and follow-ups are sometimes the most important to show continued good customer service, and being able to trust a company with any work done. After having my roof replaced, the surrounding job site around the home was a mess despite the promise to keep debris and the area around the home clean. There were literally nails throughout the whole outdoor area of our home and not to mention debris from them tearing and just throwing the old shingles off the roof to anywhere around the home - backyard, side yard, you name it, there were pieces all over. And if you know how shingles are, even if it doesn't break into smaller pieces, you're guaranteed with LOTS and LOTS of asphalt from the asphalt shingles. The combination of nails and asphalt around a home where there's a pet dog and a young child is definitely unappreciated. A Pace Ave rep (mind you not the roofing company) did come out after that and used a magnetic strip to collect all the nails, but nothing could be done with the asphalt mess. Nonetheless, some nails would appear every now and then. A year later, I'm now having an issue with gutters that are so full of debris and despite the willingness to come out and take a look (since the roofers did NOT cover the cutters when they removed the old asphalt shingles), they have not follow through and hence why this review is in order. And I think this kind of review is crucial to give proper feedback as it's not the immediate moment after the work is done that is important but after that as well. Gutters that had no problem before roof replacement is now growing with some weeds, and heavy with debris - could it be all from just the wildfires? I doubt it as the layer of soot from the wildfire isn't going to leave that much when it would also be washed away. Also, see the attached picture of how shingles are not overlapping and allowing underlayment to be exposed in the first shingles layer. Is this how roofs is to be installed properly? (Updated June 15th, 2021) Thanks for the response, but you took a whole week to respond despite me responding immediately. Time is money and I can't be sitting around leaving my schedule free for a supposed meeting that wasn't confirmed until 2 days before that you finally responded. I will have another third party look at it again it may be true that there's an issue and it's not deemed so, and I get charged anyway since right now, I can't trust your word either when the proper service would be to follow up accordingly, check, instead of the continuous back and forth about maybe this contract did this or that. Would have protected yourself if pictures were taken at the end of the work. Still does not address the initial issues immediately after the roof replacement. So there you have it everyone, a company who seeks to avoid what they could.
