Not a luxury experience, do not let the windows fool you with all the shiny bits out front. Dishonest, owner Joe is what I would define as a inept car salesman, and does not stand by his deals. Owner pretends to know what he is doing, but talks down to you at every opportunity like you know nothing. There are lots of jewelers on Wabash, and like a good dentist, you want one that is honest. This looks like a front company where they ask for cash instead of taking credit cards for such a large purchase. Only drug dealers carry that much cash. I've come here a few times to look around with the intent on purchasing. First in November of 2019 and then in early (Jan and Feb) of 2020. Been by the shop to window shop as well more recently, looking at their Rolex selection. Unfortunately my experiences were not positive enough to warrant a purchase. I ultimately discovered they have some honesty issues when they tried to lowball me on a trade in. I brought in a 22kt 24" 3mm 28.6 gram rope chain and a 9 gram 22kt ohm ring. Both pieces had been purchased by me, and I knew both pieces to be 22kt because they were imported from India, where 22kt is common. The jewelery was stamped with the purity, not the karat weight, so the stamps said "916". This is because 22/24 is 91.6, so 22kt gold is 91.6% pure gold. Someone, I assume the owner or manager, told my sales person that my jewelry was ACTUALLY 21k, and then tried to tell me that the 916 stamp means 21k. They didn't even bust out a calculator or check the internet to find out they were wrong. I think they thought I didn't know better. I ended up getting over $500 more in trade value by taking my pieces next door to NYJ Chicago. This experience leads me to not trust this jeweler, as they seem to either be ignorant or unethical. read more

After my mom passed away I was never going to wear her wedding and engagement rings as rings, but didn't want to just put them in a jewelry box. After an unsuccessful first trip to the jewelry store, we came here to look at eternity rings. We mentioned our dilemma with the other jewelry store. After finding a round prong eternity setting we liked, we feared that we might hear the same story-just can't do it with my ring size. Instead, the affable jeweler Tony said "amateurs" and promised us that he would be able to make my ring in the style and setting I liked. As we were leaving, we learned even more about the store and their commitment to custom gemstone pieces. The jeweler Tony purchases and selects all of the stones himself. With this knowledge, they took extra care in selecting the tsavorite stones for my mother's ring and cutting them just right. In a little over a week, my mother's ring was ready for pickup. My fiance and I had refreshingly fantastic service here over the weekend. We were shopping for vintage or estate engagement rings and had spent time at various stores throughout the city and suburbs, and in Jeweler's Row. This was our BEST experience in Jeweler's Row. Like most stores, Tony had a only small selection of estate rings, but was extremely knowledgeable and patient. This was a breath of fresh air from the other stores, which seemed to think that dealing with their estate rings was a nuisance (then why carry them!?). Tony at Prudential spent time explaining the diamond cuts, color, clarity, and options for ring re-sizing. It was such a breath of fresh air after the attitude and/or ignorance we encountered at so many of the other stores. Their prices were also very good compared to what we found online and were seeing at other stores. We did not buy our ring at Prudential because we received a family diamond, but we will bring the engagement ring and our other jewelry here for resizing and repair because of the excellent service! read more

Nice service. The ring that we bought was stated that it was 18k gold. It turned my finger green. We checked and it said 14k inside the band. So, we weren't told the truth. And, after we had someone look at the ring closely it was pointed out the setting wasn't well done. They were nice. They were accommodating. I had fantastic service here over St Patty's Day weekend. I was shopping for a cushion cut sapphire engagement ring and had spent significant time the weeks before looking at other stores. The generally theme at each store is cushion cut sapphires are hard to come by and it would be hit or miss whether I'd be able to find the right one by the middle of April (timeframe of proposal). This was not an issue at Prudential. Tony had an extensive collection of colored gems, including three breathtaking cushion cut sapphire stones. The store itself is simple and beautiful (and expanding). A few particularly fancy pieces are particular focuses of attention, but the general layout flows nicely, and the store is plenty spacious (soon to be bigger) and well-lit. Tony spent time explaining the sapphires, their color, clarity, and options for bands. After only 45 minutes, a decision was made - an 18K White Gold cushion cut sapphire stone in a halo setting. The CAD design was sent only a few days later and the ring was made in about a week (lead time at many other stores was much longer). I presented the ring to my fiance last week. The compliments just keep on coming in. The Prudential family treated me like an old friend. I could not have been more satisfied with every aspect of the experience as well as the ring itself. They have truly earned a customer for life. read more

I'm sure everything is overpriced, but the jeweler was honest about saying they were selling this one watch for $48,500, but he could let it go for as low as $28,100 or something like that (we really had no interest in buying the watch but were just curious cause it was huge and too bejeweled). My fiance and I basically went up and down "jewelers row" talking to everybody about getting a new setting for my engagement ring (it was a family ring that didn't fit and wasn't exactly my style). Not only was prudential the only place where they didn't give me trouble about not wanting to add more diamonds (one was enough, I wasn't interested in more!) they also worked really hard to come up with a setting that was low but still unique. They re-set it in about half an hour, and the setting was much less than we were quoted by other jewelers for essentially the same thing. We went back to get our wedding rings and when I couldn't decide on what ring I wanted, they custom-made me a ring with a sand-blasted texture stripe which can be changed to different colors with long-lasting enamel. I finally signed up for yelp just so that i could write about joe and his family at prudential. These guys are hands down the best on jeweler's row. I really can't say enough good things about them, but I will try. They are incredibly patient, very nice, and they have no pressure sales tactics - it was refreshing. They have a huge selection and are not a little kiosk somewhere - they're legit and established - but we were looking for a very specific vintage engagement ring and at the end of the day (after months of looking around) we found it somewhere else. Joe told me that if I bought a ring elsewhere I could bring it in to them and ask them for advice, pricing, etc. I'm so glad that I did.... Before I bought the ring at another shop, I went back to prudential to ask their opinion of the deal. Joe and Tony both spent close to an hour explaining to me how the process works; they explained what questions to ask and how to not get ripped off - and they already knew I wasn't going to buy a ring from them! If I had not gone back to them I would have gotten ripped off. They ended up teaching me about the process, spending a lot of time with me, saving me a lot of money, and providing peace of mind. They're the best!! No one else even came close to their selection, pricing and customer service - I've spent months looking.... They have been so great. In a process that is often confusing, with questionable characters and standards, they were outstanding in every regard. When it comes to buying the wedding bands I'm coming back to them. I was told about Prudential by a coworker, I called at 10 right when they opened, went at 11, and they had resized my engagement ring by 12:30. It was SO reasonably priced and they were willing to stand there with me for 15 minutes trying to figure out the best size. While I was waiting I noticed they had a great selection of jewelry, too, so I plan on getting my wedding band there.
