Going to St. Thomas Family Health Center on Charlotte Ave. for my annual wellness visit has been an…read moreordeal. I chose this clinic from a list of providers identified by my insurance plan, and scheduled the visit. The issue was not the staff or the care provided, although I did have to wait quite a while on the first visit on July 1st, 2024, before my nurse practitioner's assistant came into the room to obtain a medical history, and was told I would need to schedule another visit for my tests, which I did. Some of these tests (ekg, bloodwork) were performed on site at the clinic during the second visit on August 19th, one (mammogram) at Premier Radiology, and one (bone density scan) that was not part of the annual wellness visit at St. Thomas Hospital. The last one was the only one I specifically requested, and fully intended to pay for. All the others were supposed to be part of the annual wellness / prevention visit covered by insurance. Then the bills came. In addition to the bills from the clinic for my two visits at $132 and $168 respectively, plus an additional fee at Premier for the mammogram, I received multiple bills from my insurance co. for hundreds of dollars for the various lab tests. When I called the insurance company, I was told the clinic had not coded these tests correctly, and that they should have been coded as "preventive" and not "routine." When I went back to the clinic and asked to speak to someone about this, I was told they would leave a message for the manager, and he would get back to me. When several weeks passed with no response from the manager, I called the insurance company again, just to be sure that these tests were supposed to be covered, as they always had been in the past. Not only did they confirm this, but the person I spoke to actually took the time to conduct three-way calls between her, myself and labcorp, as well as her, myself and the clinic, to see if we could connect with whomever handles the coding at the clinic. As I had experienced previously, we could not get any information from anyone. In addition, for the second time, I was given a number for NP Ervin that was incorrect and actually belongs to a gynecologist in California! On Oct 24th, I wrote and hand delivered a notarized letter to the clinic detailing my several attempts to speak to someone about this, and once again requested a follow-up with the manager, or ANYONE who could take responsibility to perform the simple task of correcting the coding and resubmitting the bill to insurance. Once again, almost a month later, I have not heard from anyone. When I called this morning, I was told again that they'd left a message for the manager. This is so far beyond unprofessional that I question whether this clinic should even be in practice. I was explicitly clear that I was there for my annual "wellness visit", for which I've never been charged elsewhere in previous years. Why were these tests coded improperly? Why has there been no follow-up, let alone correction? Why was I made to schedule a 2nd visit for what has always been completed previously in a single visit, and then charged by the clinic for both visits as well as all the tests? Why is no one at the clinic capable of telling me who does the coding? In the several attempts I've made to get this nonsense off my plate, why am I always told the manager is "busy" or "out of the office" or "on vacation" or... ? It seems clear he is not interested in addressing this, and probably waiting out the end of the year as it seems I'll need to change insurance plans on the healthcare marketplace and will find myself stuck with these bills, probably in a collection agency, without recourse. I cannot recommend strongly enough that you do NOT go to this clinic with ANY expectation of being treated fairly or charged correctly!

We have had to go to this hospital for several tests and appointments and we both really like this hospital. They offer free parking and free valet parking. The building is clean and all the offices are well marked and easy to locate. The staff is very helpful. I am very pleased with this hospital and I wanted to share on Yelp.

Dr. Triggs is located at Green Hills Pediatrics and we absolutely love her. I have a 3 year old and…read morean 11 month old who have both gone to Dr. Elizabeth Triggs since their birth. The office itself is great. It's newer with a large waiting area: one area for sick patients, another for well visits and a 3rd smaller area for new patients. They separate their well and sick visits which I like. Their well visits are usually set for mornings while they see their sick patients in the afternoon in order to prevent the spread of illness. They are prompt with their appointment times which is a must for me because I hate waiting. Their location is great as they sit on top of a parking garage which is awesome especially on rainy days. Another plus is that it's next door to Publix. If my kids need prescription meds I just walk through the garage to an elevator that takes me to Publix and pick up their meds. I don't even have to drive anywhere. :) Dr. Triggs is fantastic with my kids. She always breaks the ice with them at every visit. I remember she blew into a rubber glove and tied the end and made it look like a little balloon just to entertain my little one... which totally worked. A wise thing she does is separate herself from the actions of what small ones have to get...shots. (The nurses give the shots) I know this removes the negative stigma a child has for a doctor so it's always a pleasure for them to see her. I love that she can make a bird sound for them whenever she looks into their ears. It calms them because they're too busy listening. Overall, she's great and provides great (solicited) advice. She never rushes us and I've even been allowed me to sit in the room and nurse my baby (on multiple occassions). The staff of nurses are great as well. When my babies get their vaccinations they are very quick. They are also available around the clock in case your little one gets sick after the office closes. They always have a doctor on call who responds to the after hour calls. You basically leave a message and receive a call back less than 20 minutes later. I can't tell you how this keeps my heart and mind at ease because I've called on a few occassions and they have been more than helpful. I would recommend anyone to take their child to Green Hills Pediatrics and even more so to see Dr. Elizabeth Triggs.

The next…read moremorning I saw that it was not getting better and a multi-color bruise was spreading all over my foot. The pain was there, too, so after a couple of days, I went to the walk-in clinic. It was about 5 PM and there were only a few folks waiting. I like that the waiting room has two sections - one for sick people and the other for "well patients." If you are well, are you a patient? But, I saw what they meant. I was processed quickly and a nurse took vitals. I go to Centennial Medical, but the computer had my meds up to date. I didn't realize that records could be accessed like that, but it could save your life if you were taken by ambulance to a hospital different from your system. Soon Dr. Corey Batson came in, made a few pleasantries, poked the swelling, and sent me for an x-ray. In a few minutes he told me that I didn't have a fracture (though an official reading would be there in 2 hours), messaged a prescription for a salve, and sent me on my way. Total time about 45 minutes. The lobby floor gleams, people are friendly and seem to know their jobs, and it was quick. I am glad I went there and would recommend it for those types of illnesses or injury where a walk-in clinic makes sense.

I visited the Vanderbilt walk in clinic near my home on Sunday morning with a fever of 102.4 (I…read moreNEVER run fevers). I had a horrible headache & my throat felt like it was on fire! I also noticed an unusual sharp pain in my lower left abdomen that seemed to appear at the same time the other symptoms started. I knew something was wrong, hence the reason I chose Vandy walk-in-clinic. I have insurance & was charged $100.00 even though my Insurance card said "Co-Pay $25 Urgent Care" 1st Red Flag! The MA that took my vitals had a bad attitude & acted like I was a bother to her bc she had to work on a Sunday morning. They did a quick urinalysis. When the female PA entered the exam room, she had very little eye contact & asked the same questions the MA had just asked me! The PA had her face in her laptop, typing, for the majority of the appt. I explained that my throat hasn't hurt like this since I got my tonsils out as a young child & It prevented me from sleeping, hurt to eat, drink & even swallow. I mentioned my headache being pretty bad & thought maybe it was due to my unusual fever & BP being elevated from the pain. I purposely pointed out my lymph nodes near my throat felt swollen hoping she would check for infection. She quickly shined a light in my throat & checked my ears. She did NOT feel for swollen lymph nodes. She did however examine the pain in my lower left abdomen & asked if I had a recent colonoscopy! (Yes, I actually just had one 2 months ago!) The hands on, "physical exam" was very quick & very limited! She sat back down in front of her laptop & to my surprise said, if you hadn't just had a colonoscopy, I would suspect diverticulitis! Your urine was perfectly clean, no sign of a kidney infection etc. Even more disturbing.. she said she recommends me going directly to the ER & having a CT of my head done to rule out a possible Brain bleed!! (I chose a walk-in clinic so that I could avoid sitting in an ER for hours). She said she could have a blood test done there at the clinic BUT the results would take longer to come back & the ER would get them back immediately! I asked how MUCH longer for the results if I got the blood test done while I was right then & there? she said "oh, not until tomorrow & I'm not working tomorrow!!" (wait, WHAT? So, she's the ONLY medical professional at the Vandy clinic that can read a blood test result??). I left that office feeling less than impressed & surely didn't feel ANY relief as to why I was running a fever, throat on fire & a pounding headache! After thinking about it all evening, I called the Vandy clinic the next morning & expressed my frustration with the medical staff during my visit the prior morning & they suggested I come back in. When I checked in, the gentleman asked for my insurance card & without hesitation said, that will be $25. I explained I had just been charged $100 the morning before & he pointed to my card & said, no, it says right here.. "Urgent Care Co-pay $25" The individual at check in the day before just didn't take the time to READ! Infuriating! The MA & PA that I saw on Monday were 100% better & the PA immediately ran a Strep test & a Covid test & explained EVERYTHING to me. I waited the few minutes for the test results & he came back in with the results of my test that I did not have strep throat but indeed, did have the new strain of Covid "razor-blade strain", which explained my throat hurting so bad! This explained the fever, the headache etc. He was kind, professional & direct. I am so glad I called & went back in the following day & left with a diagnosis.
