Prêt à Manger @Aéroport de Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle! Great spot for fresh croissants, sandwiches, drinks!
    Eric R.

Benjamin Franklin once said, "Each person has two countries, his own and France." What did he mean by that? Perhaps he meant, "each person has two loves: his wife, and his girlfriends in France!" Oui, Oui! Playboy Benji! Prêt à Manger aka Pret a Manger receives a perfect score almost by default. I mean where else can you get affordable, delicious pastries, sandwiches, organic coffees, and fresh juices at airport locations? I realize not all locations are equal. I get that. For instance, the Prêt à Manger at London Heathrow is far superior to any location I've visited, however going back to what makes it 5-stars in my book goes back to price, service, quality. Prêt à Manger at Aéroport de Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle in France is a smaller location. It still offers the mandatory croissants, sandwiches, coffees, and cold pressed juices for your flight. On my visit I decided on a fresh peach juice (sounds yum eh?), organic coffee, and a chocolat croissant. The cashier spoke fluent French and very good English. She was friendly, efficient, with a nice smile;) I grabbed a seat and enjoyed my mini breakfast before my flight from Paris to Barcelona. The chocolat croissant fresh as always, the organic coffee on point. Just sadly... I somehow forgot my peach juice at the table - unopened too:( I was so looking forward to drinking that pêche juice as I flew over the Andorra mountains. Oh well *sighs* In the end, I highly recommend stopping by any Prêt à Manger aka Pret a Manger location. Some are bigger and better than others, yet all offer comfort bites and quality drinks at affordable prices! Just don't forget your juice! I hope Benjamin Franklin's French girlfriend drank it!

Latifa was really sweet. The food and drink were good as well. Pret is always a hit and I would recommend this location.

I have had the wonderful fortune of being able to visit Paris twice in the last few years and for a…read morecity that didn't even make it to my top 20 places to visit in my lifetime, it is an incredible metropolis that you should really consider passing through, at least for a week. The culture and history are amazing (which are givens) but what will totally knock you off your feet is the food. People will tell you that but it will still shock you when you put a pastry or a bite of a galette (of the sort from the Brittany region) in your mouth. Okay, all of that is to say that while there are great things to experience in Paris, you will find that service is not exactly what one would call friendly or hospitable. I get it, I'm an American and Yanks are entitled and pompous. I totally understand that and I know that no matter how much I jump up and down, shouting to you that I'm not that way (especially since I'm the child of immigrant parents of an extremely humble background), you will remain skeptical. That's okay. I have come to understand that Parisians are not what we here in the States would consider exactly "warm." But I accept the cultural difference and am more than happy when I can have a cordial exchange with business owners/managers and their employees. I don't speak French, but I learned the obligatory "Parlez-vous anglais?" in deference to the country's official language. I heard the cashier speak English to the customer in front of me but when it was my turn, both she and the manager on shift looked at me blankly so I politely (and timidly) asked my question. The man acted indifferently and said flatly, "A little." So I ordered my cappuccino, feeling embarrassed. I paid and left. I understand that Parisians are tired of Americans and their expectation that everyone speaks English (I have witnessed this and know it to be generally true) but when your customer tries to communicate with you and your place of business is in an international airport (8th busiest in the world in passenger traffic, at that), you would think you could be a bit more understanding. I won't change the world or this place with my review, but there you have my two cents. Oh, and the cappuccino was quite good.

Ladurée is a sweet respite in your busy travel plans. Whenever I am in the Paris airport, it is an obligatory stop. This macaroon shop is located conveniently inside the airport with the quintessential elegant Parisian packaging. Even in Charles de Gaulle extremely busy terminal, it is a nice travel break. To be transparent, macaroons are not my first dessert choice. Laduréevis in a macaroon league of its own...soft blue green base colors, delicate gold font accents, rows of perfectly arranged macarons. Each one had that signature texture ...a delicate shell with a soft, creamy center. The history... Ladurée was founded in 1862 by Louis-Ernest Ladurée and evolved into one of the first Parisian tea salons. The now-famous Ladurée macaron didn't appear until decades later, when Pierre Desfontaines, a descendant of the founder, created the modern version... two delicate shells filled with ganache. From that point forward, Ladurée became synonymous with elegance, indulgence, and being distinctly Parisian. Today, it sells thousands of macarons daily and has locations worldwide. The ladies at the macaroon shop have a system of service. One person takes your order, another selects your macaroons and the third person packages the macaroons. It is important to note that, while Ladurée is the most delicious macaroon I have ever tasted, they are expensive. So, it will be a splurge. I asked the staff if they could add a bit more soup or sauce, and they kindly did, which improved the dish. The menu mentions cashews, and the idea of combining everything together sounds great in theory. However, there were only about 3-5 cashews in the dish, which didn't really balance the pasta as expected. I would recommend using fewer pasta portions and adding more cashews and sauce to improve the flavor and texture. Overall, the service was good and the staff were accommodating. The menu itself has good ideas, but I think the restaurant could focus more on quality and balance rather than quantity. Considering the price point, I personally wouldn't recommend it right now, though I believe they have the potential to do better.

Salads are packaged in these clear, thick plastic boxes that make them look like gemstones. The food is a bit pricey, but it is worth it compared to the other food options around (the other food looked like it would give you a case of no. 3!!!). Everything is luxurious down to their super heavyweight napkins and plastic cutlery that looks like it's real metal. Sometimes it's worth to splurge for a memorable and enjoyable last meal. :)
