Took it to a real appraiser who sent it off to the Gemological Institute of America .... came back that the stone had a special treatment added to it to make the diamond appear to have a better color that it naturally has. New appraisal $60k. Andre of course has no idea how that happened.

I was just so exhausted from my day at Cabana to open safe to wear one for dinner. It's the common theme of this shop not to sell anything. Oh he said we could purchase used CPO watches but I chuckled cause I know those are so highly marketed up it's not worth it. I was informed that in last few years, there has been a serious shortage of Rolex stainless steel sport watches. Of the five Rolex authorized dealers in Hawaii, Cheryl at the Baron & Leeds location in Maui stayed in contact with me over the last three and a half months about my request. She contacted me about a month ago and informed me that a stainless Submariner without date would be available but I was holding out for one with the date function. Much to my surprise, while I was on vacation in Belize, I received a text message from her notifying me that one had become available. I responded immediately that I wanted it and would be returning in a few days and could pick it up. She charged my credit card and a few days later I flew to Maui to pick up my brand new Rolex watch. At the store, she greeted me warmly and we celebrated my purchase over a glass of champagne. She fit the watch and explained it's functions and informed me about other watches and promotions that Baron & Leeds has. I hope she is able to acquire my other requests soon. Most of it was pretty expensive, they had some amazing reclaimed wood picture frames that I just loved, in shades of blue and green but I was seriously not going to be shelling out $90-100 for a frame that I'd have to lug home dammit. But they also had some small fun stuff that was easily packable and didn't break the bank. I left with a cool handmade Hawaiian 'baby neck positioner' so that our kid's contorted sleeping positions while in the stroller wouldn't give him neckal tunnel, and a few pairs of handmade earrings for my Mom and sister. WaterLily Maui's owner has had boutique's on Maui for decades, a long career in fashion, and great taste in clothes. These are definitely the best clothes on Maui, and the friendliest staff.

Service - 2 stars, very aggressive sales techniques; not necessary resulting in a positive result. Owner seems friendly, until he starts "selling". Selling, not in an unfriendly way, but way too aggressive after we said we were not interested in another piece. See Lahaina Gems Yelp, where an aggressive salesperson can still make a customer leave feeling positive. Price - $15, we have no problem supporting and paying extra at local businesses; but not when all other locations sell the exact same item for only $4-$5... If I knew that, I would have suggested my wife NOT to buy it. She still may have though, LOL. Owner Comment - I suggest working on a better sales technique... Owner says this is a new location for him, so I almost feel bad writing this review. I believe suggestive selling works, but do not push or overly pressure customers because it can have the opposite intended effect. I think we also bought something from him last year...? She was pushed to a CPO watch with the line that it would take many years to get it new. Can't even order a new one, they said. Not true. I checked. Just lying and embellishing to get the sale. Then they made sure to activate the warranty on the way out of the store so that the watch can't be returned according to their policy. Nice move.
