All the usual nonsense applies to the customer experience at this Public Storage location. Never enough flatbed carts to go around. The spaces are inches smaller in length and width than you are quoted. (My current 10' x 15' is really about 9.5' by 14.5'. That's 12.25 square feet less than it should be. And IT WAS BUILT THAT WAY. Guessing Public Storage depends on customers never measuring the units. My previous space in this same facility was also smaller than the stated size. Built that way.) The people who work here talk about how "corporate" controls everything they do and they have no latitude. The giant pothole in the middle of the parking area? Took months to fix--probably because of corporate. I will say that when I experienced an unexpected, disruptive life event, they were able to save me a good amount of money over six months. The staff are great and kind but Public Storage is the absolute worst, I've been here for six months and they are almost doubling my rent. I am pregnant with a baby due in October, working my butt off to support my family. And this company is trying to double my rental rate. Their response is that their contract says they can do it, now I have to get help to move the stuff out because I can't afford it. I will never use Public Storage again, what a terrible un-American company. I would avoid this company, what a waste of time and a terrible experience. No sense of customer service, gave wrong information to my family so that we would be forced to stay one more night so that they could charge another rental fee for the month. Charged $565 rental for a 10x20 unit, when their advertisement is currently over $100 less. Nightmare experience: Public Storage rents out any unit regardless if they are on hold for others, risky location, unit was broken in, not responsible for any loss, no plan for improvement and the insurance they offer Orang Door is almost unreachable. Lots of issues: 1. Having an unit on hold doesn't mean anything. They rent it out to anyone else at any time. 2 days before I was supposed to move stuff in, they told me that my unit was rented to someone else. 2. I ended up getting an unit with a matching price but then it was broken in 2 months after renting there. The security was weak. The thief had enough time to open every single box in the storage, took a dump and smoked inside. There is no surveillance camera in the hallway. Nothing was captured. Public Storage have no plan to install any, and not responsible for any loss. 3. 2 months after my unit was broken in, they increased rental price by $10%. 4. The default insurance they offer, Orange Door = Sedgwick, is absolutely terrible. Their process is broken, and not responsive at all. No one is looking at the claim, no one follows the progress, and most emails and calls are ignored. They were not able to get a police report after 3 months. I ended up taking the report and give it to Sedgwick myself. They only recognize claims with receipts. If your items don't have receipts, or under someone else's name, they are NOT covered!!! I had a loss of $8000, and they are only covering $700. It has been 6 months, and I am still trying to reach them. read more

I had to move from Bellevue to Michigan urgently and decided to temporarily move my stuff in Bellevue to a storage unit. The unit near to me was 12465 Northup Way and manager Richard was really helpful throughout the process. I got a unit that was easy to load/unload and Richard explained to me about insurance and other details upfront so that there was no confusion and hidden fees. Close to a year later, I decided to bring stuff from Bellevue to my current home and Richard again helped with everything - I didnt even need to be physically present in the unit while movers loaded my stuff, as Richard opened my storage and facilitated the move. I coudn't be more thankful to him and would recommend Public storage (especially unit 12465 Northup Way Bellevue) to anyone! read more

We rented a unit with them about 8 months ago. After 5 months, they arbitrarily raised our rate by 15 %. After 7 months, they told us we had to clear all our stuff out of our unit with barely a month's notice because they're demolishing it to build something else. A couple weeks after that, they randomly moved the deadline up by a week. Our compensation for this huge hassle, and 8+ hours of my time during a very busy month at work, was one free month in a different facility that costs over 20 % more for about the same size space, so the "free month" will only cover a few months of the price difference. This is a pathetic way to treat customers. Here's what they should do. They should guarantee that the rate you sign up for will be the rate you pay for a reasonable amount of time, at least a year. They should warn people renting new units if our facility is slated to be demolished in less than a year, so we can rent a different one and not waste a bunch of time moving. None of that is too much to ask. It should be the bare minimum! The low-level employees I've chatted with have been helpful and friendly as much as they can, but the upper management making the big decisions clearly doesn't care at all about doing right by customers, only screwing us to squeeze out more profits. I wouldn't store anything of value in the outdoor perimeter area. The fence security is almost meaningless and easily passable in several spots. While I was there parking my boat, another customer that has stored there for several years told me that he doesn't keep anything in his boat because things have been stolen out of it. When I got there, the staff didn't show me where the spot was and I assumed it would be numbered. Bad assumption on my part. I drove all the way down to the lower perimeter outdoor parking with my boat and no numbers. Then, when I walked back up to the office, he didn't want to help me until his lunch break was over. Poor customer service. I was not refunded my money even though the boat was there for less then 24 hours. Also, the access hours are not convenient at all. Must be in or out by 5:00 on the weekends and 6:00 during the week. read more

Rented an indoor unit. Very easy to get started, very easy to move out. Priced fairly. I never had any issues. The facility is clean and seems well maintained. They provide a moving cart. The only thing i wish was different is the parking. It's a steep grade, which makes it a little difficult to load/unload the provided cart. read more

The customer service was exceptional and friendly. Richard at the Northup location greeted us with a smile and asked detailed questions about the boxes and furniture size we were storing. Cheaper for short term (few weeks), with the promotions applied. Gets expensive after first month. Note that their billing is for calendar month and not for 30 days. This means you will have to pay for two months rent if you move in on April 30th and move out on May 1st, for example. Locks and packaging supplies are expensive than Fred Meyer and Home Depot. Insurance coverage is separate and costly. Hard to find trolleys. There are no door stoppers, you will have to improvise to prop the door open. I heard a dog running and barking on the upper floor, just right above my unit, on every visit. Either that dog was there for security or someone illegally housed it! read more

AVOID like the plague. Our 2 units have been broke into 3 times in the last 2 years! Resulting in identity theft and thousands of dollars in replacements costs and insurance deductables. They do not have adequate security cameras. They could care less about the problem. They say that the issue is that the city of Bellevue will not allow them to install high, barbed-wire fencing around the perimeter to deter thieves because the property is lined by public sidewalks and they would get sued if someone gets hurt. Everything was okay until I moved out. They failed to check the unit afterward and charged me for another month even though I was moved out already, on time. They never told me about the bill and it was sent to collections. They are liars, disorganized and rude. I asked the loser at the front desk a hundred times if I needed to check in again after moving my stuff out and he said no, just move out and you are good. His exact words were "just move your stuff out today and I'll check it tomorrow, you don't need to do anything else". They can go to hell cause I did my part. Horrible experience. We were moving to Dallas and needed a place to store stuff that we weren't taking with us. Although we pressed the sales rep numerous times, we were told that it was mandatory that we purchase their insurance, despite the fact that our homeowners insurance covered this. After we contacted them from Dallas, we were told it was not mandatory and that we had the option to decline it (totally opposite from what the rep told us when we were renting the unit). To add insult to injury, in order to cancel, we had to do it in person (in other words, fly up to Seattle). Anyone want to wager that if we had wanted to add insurance from Dallas, that would have been very easy and would not have required us to fly up?? This is an update to my previous review of 7/15. The 10X15 space I rented was for my car, which measures under 14.5 feet. I made an effort to explain the dimensions of my car before renting the storage unit. Turns out, my car was too long for the 15ft unit. I asked the manager Richard about the discrepancy and he said, "oh... published sizes of Public Storage units are approximate only, sorry". All he could do was offer a larger 10X25 unit (no-allowance, no move-in discount, no nothing) at full retail price. I was stuck. CAUTION to future Public Storage customers: [1] Do not trust the size measurements of PS units. A 14ft unit advertised as 15ft is FALSE ADVERTISING. [2] Do not expect PS employees to have any pricing discretion (or interest) when resolving customer service issues. One final observation: Reconciling The PS Advertised Pricing with their Billing System is practiclly impossible. Be prepared to pay amount you are billed, because you will never reconcile the accounting on their printed documents. Whether intentional or unintentional, PS billing documents are so complex and confusing, even the employees can't explain them. read more
