I've been renting there and have had issue after issue after issue. Even when my storage is paid for I can't access it because my code don't work. I've call 4x a day for 5 days straight leaving voicemails and haven't gotten a return call. Then one day I got in with someone and couldn't get out because the code was working again and the person staying there was very rude. I have been here since 2007 and have spent WELL over $150,000. In May my rent went from $950 to $1400. The outstanding location mngr and his two layers of outstanding bosses all quit two years ago around the same time. Everything has changed. It was a 5 star for YEARS!!!! read more

Beware! For those of you who have had a good experience....LUCKY YOU! So let me share our experience with you! I rented a unit from this location with the intention of only needing it for 3-4 months. I trusted this location to be decent and keep our belongings safe. Because of some issues that arose from my husband's cancer which was diagnosed in 2022, we were creeping up on being 2 months behind. I tried SO MANY times to contact someone at the location and work something out. Nobody would ever call me back. The only time I heard from them was to notify me that my unit was set to be auctioned off on July 10, 2024 at 3:00pm. Obviously not wanting to lose our stuff, I contacted the manager LACEY to work something out. She told me at that time that if I paid my past due amount before the auction started that they would not start the auction at all. I let her know that I was going to pay it at 10pm on July 9th and that it could then be set up for me to come and get my stuff out of there completely. On the morning of July 9th, my husband informed me that he was online looking at the auction site and he saw our unit listed. I was in shock. Not only was it listed, but it was set to end at the EXACT time that Lacey told me it was set to start. My first thought was "why would she lie to me". I called her immediately. I asked her why my stuff was in question when it wasn't supposed to start until the next day. She was EXTREMELY rude to me and basically told me that I was imagining things. That it wasn't in auction and that the auction wasn't supposed to start until the next day. Again, A LIE! I told he that I was on the app and I was looking right at it and she told me I was crazy! I took matters into my own hands that point. My mom went onto the site and we immediately started bidding. We watched as we over 100 people looked at our until and there were 11 bids made. We were determined to go as far as we needed. At exactly the time the website stated, the auction ended on a July 10th at 3pm. And we were the winning bid for $100. We paid the fee immediately and my mom left a message for Lacey that she would like to schedule a time to pick it up. The following day she called back and confirmed that 2pm on July 11th would work. We showed up with a truck at 2 pm and emptied the unit for $100. Cleaned out the unit and then returned to the office. I told Lacey we were done and told her that I was in fact the owner of the unit. I told her that I was extremely frustrated that she lied to me about the date and that if I would have listened to her, someone would own my stuff right now! She LAUGHED at me. The manager of a facility where I assume customer service is important literally laughed at me and told me that I didn't know what I was talking about. That it was currently in auction and that it was set to end at 3:00 that day. Seriously? End at 3pm? We were there at 2 pm collecting the unit we paid for. How could it be ending at 3pm? We are extremely disgusted with the management of this place and will continue to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else. The best part? 3 of our items that were in the front of our unit were removed prior to them taking photos. And we truly think that is why she was doing whatever she could to prevent us from getting back in the unit. We will be pursuing this as far as it will go. It's not OK. To mess with someone when it comes to their personal belongings and then to lie to their face and laugh at them when they call you out. We were even told management won't care if we call about our concerns because they are friends so we are out of luck. Not sure how Lacey still has a job there! If this has happened to anyone else, please contact me. I have already contacted law enforcement and the BBB and I will be doing what I need to do! read more

Renting a storage unit has ranked up there with going to the dentist and doing taxes. However, this place was a pleasant surprise! Alex was very pleasant and helpful. He showed me the storage unit, answered all my question, and the Public Storage site made my rental easy and painless! I would not recommend the Public Storage in BURNSVILLE, MN. I was told they wouldn't accept me unless I bought insurance from them. I pointed to their contract which specifically said purchasing their insurance was NOT required. I said even though it's in your contract you won't rent to me unless I buy your insurance? He(Alex) said yes, I have to buy their insurance or he will not rent to me. I'm no attorney, but I'm pretty sure this is illegal. Unfortunately, I was in a hurry and needed a place to rent so I paid the $10 for insurance but then contacted the corp office for a refund and to cancel insurance policy. They canceled the policy and refunded $10. But a few months later I see a $10 charge for box dividers, which I never purchased. I contact them again, this time no response. I will never rent from public storage again. read more

They doubled the price of my 40' RV spot outdoors from $65 when I first signed up in 2014. In July they raised it to $128. Further, my RV was only 301' long, so I had space in my spot that they would not allow be to put a small carry-on trailer into. Helful franchisee (Alex), but their policies are ridiculously customer unfriendly and their treatment of loyal customers​ (with pricing) is outrageous. Good riddance! read more

I set up an appointment to take a look at their storage facility. I was immediately greeted by Angie. She asked all kinds questions to make sure that all of my stuff would fit and gave great suggestions on how to keep furniture from getting musty and to keep the spiders at bay. She had a great attitude and seemed to enjoy her work. The grounds themselves were clean. The unit I was renting was docked $20 because it had the air system in it. The floor was quite damp and found there to be slow dripping water coming from the vents above. Thankfully I had a bucket with. Overall my experience with Public Storage has been a pleasant one. We gave our 7 day notice and had moved everything out. Went in to turn in our keys and were told that we needed to pay the next months rent for a unit we no longer were using, despite the fact that we gave our notice. Alex provided no help in trying to resolve the billing issue. Alex stated that he would email his regional manager and try and correct the situation. Never got copied on the email, like I asked, and never heard a word from Alex or his Regional manager Chuck. I called Alex last week to see where we were at with correcting this but was told he couldn't do anything. He gave me his regional manager phone number so I tried him direct. Its been about a week now and still no word from Chuck. Very disappointed in how they handled this and their customer service! I have never witnessed someone in a customer service/sales position raise his voice and speak to and treat a customer the way Alex did to me on the day we turned in our keys. I would never refer a friend to this Public Storage location! There are plenty of other options in the Burnsville/Savage MN area. read more

On 4/4/18, I notified the Burnsville, MN, Public Storage (34 days in advance) that I would be moving my personal property out of my storage space. Because my move-out date is the 8th of the month, I was also told (reference Steven J's review from 10/12/16) that I would have to pay for the entire next month's rent for the unit. I advised Alex that other companies (i.e. Extra Space Storage) prorate the partial months that storage space is being used. He stated that there was nothing he could do about it but provided his regional manager, Laurie VanWinkle's, telephone number. I left her a message and await a call back. I also advised Alex that if Public Storage does not prorate my rent for May, I plan to vacate the unit as planned, on 5/8/18, and then keep my lock on my empty rented space until 5/31/18, just out of spite so they can't rent it to anyone else that month and charge them a full month's rent. read more

This storage facility is clean and very well run. I needed a unit on short term notice and Angie was very helpful and efficient in giving me all of the information I needed to access my unit right away. The cost was acceptable - prorated for a partial month, and I could set up a monthly auto-pay. Each time I stopped by the facility Alex was on site, available to answer questions. Alex also made the moving out process easy and efficient. Both Angie and Alex were friendly and efficient. My experience here was excellent and I would not hesitate to use this facility again. read more
