This makes no sense. I work during their business hours so I have to leave work in the middle of the day just to go in for a signature? That screams scam and it really seems like something that will eventually get in to the courts to decide if that was a shady business process. The rates go up and when you call to question it, and question cancelling the insurance, they are so extremely rude on the phone. I work in sales, I understand customer service. You can tell they get paid whether they are good or bad, because it was never a good experience when I spoke to someone on the phone. You also can never find a cart. Apparently people were keeping them in their storage units (at least that is what I was told). But perhaps if they had more than one per LARGE building, people wouldn't keep them in their units?? Plus, find a way to keep track of them instead of completely making them inaccessible to people who are in the far back of the building and on the third floor... ugh. It's a clean building, but outside of that, I have already told my friends to never rent from them. Their app that is supposed to open gates and things never seems to work, and twice I have felt locked in the gate because I couldn't get it to open. I've rented plenty of storage units in my life and this has hands down been the worst storage experience of my life.

As I'm sure many other storage places do, once you have committed to use their space and you have your items in storage, they raise your rent. However, the real reason I'm giving this facility one star is the poor service. On Saturday I rented a small truck and went to Public Storage to remove my items, a large couch and two living room chairs. I arrive to see a sign on the elevator that says, "Elevator not working. Sorry!" Gosh, the "Sorry!" really doesn't help a lot, given that there was no dolly on the second floor and no ability to move heavy items from the second to the first floor other than the stairs. The person in the office was exceedingly unhelpful. On Monday I wanted to ensure the facility knew that I had moved out and wanted the unit cancelled. There's no human being at either the 314 number to the Barrett Station Road facility or the Public Storage 800 number (both numbers are actually the same, they give you the same menu). Of course, after telling you to go to the app or the web site, you get the option, not to speak with a human being, but to leave a message in case someone deigns to call you back. The office hours are listed on the app as 6:00 am to 9:00 pm. I called at 2:47 pm and left a message with my phone number. I wanted to make certain they received the message, so I called again at 4:29 and left another message. It's now 5:26 pm, close to three hours after I left a message, and I've heard nothing from Public Storage. I've been wracking my brain, but it's difficult to see how their customer service could be any worse.

From a business perspective, I highly recommend looking elsewhere and trying to lock in a rate. I've grown so sick of the rates going up every 3 or so months. I started at $72 for a 10x10 2 years back and the increase fight began so quickly. I was able to fight it off for a bit, but now they're looking for $193/mo from my current $113. I also had a larger spot to store a car that was at $240/mo and they tried to raise it 3 months later to $360 if I recall correctly. It was something ridiculous like that so I simply closed that unit out like I'll be doing my 10x10.
