I have stored goods here since I moved to Dallas more than 4 years ago, and although the prices seem relatively high (SMU is next door), I have always enjoyed great customer service, reminder calls, prompt answers to questions and easy transfer to different size units, even on the same floor. I see complaints about customer service and security concerns on this site: those don't relate to my very positive experience at all. The managers and staff have been very willing and able to assist me with any question or concern. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because I often wish the gate was open for access later than it is, but maybe it is a safety consideration not to allow anyone in after 9 p.m. read more

Why am I writing a review about a storage facility? Well, for one I told the friendly lady at the reception desk I would if the guy carried packing paper to my car. He fulfilled his end of the bargain, now I will do my end. They are good, I mean, it is a storage unit, not much can really be too bad unless they have indoor dust storms or indoor floods, but they do not have either of these, so there is no worry there. I only have two complaints, albeit very minor. The first one is that some patrons block the entry way with humongous moving trucks and make it hard for people to get through. The second complaint is that the intercom/entry key pad is in an awkward spot. It is too far off to the side and very flimsy, so it requires the use of two hands. Moved in before Xmas to offload some storage. The location is fantastic and within minutes of placing my online reservation I had a phone-call to verify the order. The check in was a piece of cake! Amy and Stormi were beyond helpful, walked me through every step, every fee, and gave the personal tour with all the pertinent info. The price quote was spot on and yes, as other reviewers did say, you will need to expect an administrative fee and lock fee as well as required insurance which is not disclosed on the website or phone calls, but are understandably a requirement and not steep at all. I've only had the storage for a few days but thus far my experience entering the property, getting assistance, and the front staff have been outstanding and I'm glad I went with them! read more

The manager tried to pressure me into writing a review in his presence, before we realized we'd have to pay for a full month after we 'd moved our stuff out. This was extremely frustrating because one if the office workers confirmed otherwise- that we would not be charged. ...super clean, super convenient and great deal...I got a large space for only $47 a month..the only complaint I had was in the beginning when I called for pricing the sales person did not mention that you had to purchase the lock thru them and several other fees (such as insurance that you CAN refuse) which brought the move in cost up to $100 rather than the $47 they had quoted me over the phone...other than that this is the place to rent!!! read more

I was renting a unit at another storage facility but the rates there were insane. I moved everything this Public Storage location to get a better rate. I needed to save money so I was willing to compromise on a dirty facility that smells like moth balls. Here are my issues: The freight elevator is rarely working - I had rented a truck to move everything into the PS unit only to find out the freight elevator was not working. It took four days for them to get it back up and running. And as far as climate control - it's been 100 degrees in Dallas lately and cooler outside than it is inside. I don't know what the requirements are to be climate controlled but I seriously doubt 90 degrees inside is it. They claim to have a well lit facility but they do not. I went over there on a Sunday evening and lo and behold the elevator was not working. Up the stairs I go - there are no light switches and half of the bulbs were burnt out. I was tripping up and down the stairs. Not to mention lighting in the halls/units. It was so dim I needed a flashlight to get what I needed. Also, they lock the dollies to the fence which requires you to go into the office to use one. That's one extra step I shouldn't have to take. My rent was recently increased so I am in the process of selling all of my stuff to get out of there. It's certainly not worth what I am paying. The storage facility I moved from was pristine, cool, and professional. Lesson learned: you pay for what you get. read more

"Half off storage" my room was 75.00 with half off. So about 40$. After fees and locks and everything they make you pay for it was over 100. Gave me the wrong login for gate I couldn't even get into the locations. I can't even log in online to pay my boosted bill now. I'm on the 5th floor paying the same as ground floor. When I walked in and told the woman at the desk I had an appointment, she knew who I was and was ready for me. Emily was very friendly and walked me through the process. Everyone on the staff was extremely friendly. They went out of their way to make sure I was taken care of. Tthe place isnt exactly the nicest place but it's a storage facility. Everytime I have gone to my unit the facility itself was very clean and the elevator seemed OK. The monthly charge seems a little on the high side but I'm minutes from where I live and I don't mind paying for the convenience. Overall a pretty good experience. read more

Awful property; can't wait til I no longer need the storage space and move out. I was given one rate when signing up and have since been charged a higher rate every month. After months of numerous people either telling me there's nothing they can do, telling me they will fix it and don't, or straight hanging up on me, I have finally conceded to Public Storage. You win. Charge me whatever. Ignore the initial email with the agreed upon price, ignore my asking to speak to someone that can help with the matter, keep telling me you'll speak to the right person and get it changed, continue to update my requests on my online account page stating the matter has been fixed/completed. I am pulling my property out of this business. The staff is rude and pretty clueless, the freight elevator sometimes doesn't work and they don't inform the customers, and now they keep the moving carts locked up and you can't use them outside of the office's working hours, which severely limits the times you can move stuff. I have been a customer for over two years. Of course they have raised rates three maybe four times which is supposedly supply and demand but its really driven by greater and greater return on equity. The reason for my rating of 1 star is that I went to my unit today and found it to have water and mold everywhere. 4 mattresses were ruined and a beautiful wooden bed I had been saving for my daughter. i still don't know the extent of the damages but will have insurance company there as soon as possible. I'll also hire a lawyer since the horrible condition prevented us from completing our move and now have to pay for moving storage and additional fees to have the movers out again and now move a 10x25 storage room that I hadn't planned on moving. I chose this location because its a high-rise, thinking it would be high and dry. NOT. it is a WET, LEAKY, MOLD PIT that stinks. I really thought public storage was better than this. I'm going to review again tomorrow after I see how the mgmt. team handles this and see if they pay for me the damages and costs that I incur. read more

I recently leased (they are month to month terms which is great-just be sure to understand the deadlines for terminations, etc.) a 5x5 space for my 2 daughters who are attending SMU. Obviously, the location could not be more convenient, but the best part of the experience was the customer service as another reviewer described. I booked a reservation on line (and you do receive a discounted internet rate) and within 1 or 2 minutes of booking a member of the team phoned me and walked me through the whole process. When we arrived with our things (only boxes and bags-we are not storing furniture), we asked about whether the 5x5 unit would be sufficient for our needs and they reassured me it would and never tried to sell me up to a more expensive unit. We worked with Carian and she could not have been more helpful. She explained the access hours, the climate control, how to work the lock, and what insurance coverage options were available (and when I confirmed that my homeowners' insurance would cover it she immediately gave me the paperwork to decline their insurance-there was no pressure at all to pay the added expense). She helped us load our things on to the cart, took us to the unit-it is very easy to use the freight elevator and navigate the facility...we loaded everything in, she showed us how to lock up and helped us return the cart. We then did all our paperwork and she gave us several copies of the card with our gate access code and other good information so that we have it in multiple places and we were off...in about 45 minutes in all. The location is next door to the old Palomar (the new Highland), the area is well lit and there are many nice establishments surrounding the space. We received NO pressure at all to write a review, everyone was just very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend this location and this service-I just wished I had leased earlier to avoid all those UPS shipments back and forth from Chicago! read more

As a college student that goes to SMU, nothing is more gratifying than knowing when you're going to store all your stuff from the years before going back home that everything is all taken care of with your storage unit. The people at Public Storage, the girls especially, were always so kind courteous and helpful. Whenever problems arose, ie my I lost my key to the storage unit, the young lady by the name of Emily was always reassuring that she was to take care of the situation by putting an extra lock on my unit for security purposes. Later on she would send a locksmith out to cut the lock and put my own personal new lock on it. She always followed up, was sincere, kind and courteous. I truly appreciate them and am very happy to use them again the following year for my storage prior to heading back home. Thanks to all the lovely girls at public storage. read more

I had to get a storage unit and they seemed like they had the best rates. Low and behold i spent more money with extra fees and rate increases then i ever thought i would. When i asked about why i couldn't find a notice in the lease to describe the rate increases they told me to seek legal council. i then called the main office they told me that they increase rates every 6 months. They increased my rate at 5months. i will never use these a-holes again... read more

Great service and great location for SMU students. Have never had a problem getting in our out or with security. However, it is not as new as some other storage facilities near by. Also, the $1 first month (noted on Yelp, on billboard on Mockingbird as well on public storage website) and 15% discounts are NOT available at this location when you go in there. I don't appreciate the advertising for discounts everywhere and then to be told that is does not apply to this location because the demand is high. read more
