Customer service is absolutely terrible. I spoke with what I thought was corporate from the number listed that deals with all the different locations and got my feelings hurt. I tried to move out of my unit on December 31. I emptied it and removed the key. No one was on premises to discuss the close out. I called and left a message and no return call was received. On January 4, 2021, they still had me listed. I went and found the manager and she said I would have to pay for the month because she was open on the 31st. I called corporate and they said they would take care of it. The manager finally called me back and said that I had left some things and I could not be cleared out. I called back and left a message and received no call back. I went again on the 5th and made sure it was cleared. Called to confirm with manager and went to voice mail. I called corporate and was told she would not notify the facility that I had cleared it out and it would be up to them so I needed to contact them. Its amazing that she did not understand that I told her I called and did not get a return call. Sad part about this, their online system allows you to schedule your move out. I found this out as I was trying to find out a better way to communicate with them. There is something wrong with their business practice and it seems they try to hold people to make them pay extra. Also, every few months they raise their rates while offering lower prices to attract people in. Anybody need storage, don't use Public...their customer service stinks and they may be running some kind of scheme to make people pay more. read more

If someone NEEDS storage, be transparent with them. Not shady as a willow tree. Hard pass. It's difficult to find & difficult to trust so hopefully you find it easy to just say no to the nonsense. I like that this facility is at the end of a dead end street. It seems more secure than most storage places because of the dead end. Prices are affordable. If you planning on finding a Storage place to rent from. Don't rent at public storage In hazel crest iL . They change the price of your unit anytime they feel like it . When I got my storage unit 3 months ago my payment was suppose to be $86 with the insurance. Now they send me a email saying my rent is going to $105.95 amount . The units are out dated , the ceiling is failing down in my unit and they have bed bugs ! The Staff are not really friendly either. This will be my last time using this Facility . read more

DO NOT USE THIS PUBLIC STORAGE!!Worst customer service ever. I went in to access my husband's storage unit to see how much stuff was there so that I could prepare to move it. I was told by Shenita, that I couldn't access the unit because a payment was due. I asked to just see the unit for purposes previously stated but was denied as it appeared that she did not want to end the conversation she was having with her male friend that was sitting present in the office. I returned the following morning with payment and was told rudely by manager Nina that despite payment I couldn't access the unit. I provided paperwork where my husband authorized me access to the unit as well as a request to have the lock cut. Incidentally they did not bother to let us know when the lock was cut and subsequently another lock was placed on the unit by Public Storage despite signed paperwork stating they would not put a lock on the unit and would contact us to be present at the time of the lock cutting so that we could put our own lock on the unit. After the manager continued to make "policies" as to why I couldn't access the unit, I called the police. The manager proceeded to tell the police officer that I would need an affidavit or power of attorney or a notarized letter to access the unit or my husband would have to come to the office. What is the purpose of having him sign an authorization for me to access the unit if he has to be present in order for me to access the unit??! I asked to see such policies in writing and the manager could not produce it. Don't waste your time with this ridiculousness! After contacting several district and regional managers, I was offered an ATTEMPT to waive the late fee for this month. There was no consideration of the fact that we were not notified of the lock being cut nor that my husband has been a loyal customer for TEN YEARS! They get an extra month of rent, but lost a lifetime of business from me and anyone who knows me. read more

I Must say this location is very poor with customer service. The location Manager, Yolanda is disrespectful and the employees follow her lead. I have been calling Tom, the District manager for two weeks now and him nor his manager has given me a call back. I have been calling customer service daily to try to get in contact with someone because my calls are going unanswered when i call the actually location. I regret doing business here. And will advise anyone who is in need of a storage unit to take ur business somewhere else, not public storage. read more

The service at this facility is great! Everyone I have dealt with in the office has been great, especially Yolanda. They have all been friendly, helpful, and knowledgable. The only slight problem we had was that on one occasion, we arrived at the facility and the gate which is supposed to be locked 24 hrs/day was wide open. I guess there had been some problem with the automatic gate closing system. Our stuff was perfectly fine, and we have had no other trouble. Would definitely recommend this location. read more

I have been renting a space in this unit for several years. I am currently looking for a space elsewhere due to the way this facility is managed. They arbitrarily change the access hours for their convenience. I attempted to access my unit at 8:00 pm. Unbeknownst to me, a paying customer, I had no access to my storage unit after 6:00 pm. I called the corporate office and was told that I had access until 9:00 pm. Needless to say, I didn't get in that evening. Spoke to the office the following day when they opened at 9:30, and was told that the weekday access was from 9:30 am - 6:00 pm and weekend access was from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm. The corporate office and their very own website states that customers have access from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm everyday. The overhead spring for the door is also broken again, which makes if very difficult to open the door. I can open it, but my daughter, who is the owner of most of the things inside, cannot. This happened last year and it took 4 months to get it fixed. I left a message for the facility manager 10 days ago and still haven't received a return call. To top it off, the rates keep rising as the quality of service continues to go down. read more

This place is a total DUMP compared to the location in Country Club Hills, they have a drive up keypad, you don't have to get out your vehicle in order for the gate to open , they have camera's on all areas of the facility at the Hazel Crest location there is a women that sleeps in her unit, I'm quite sure they see her everyday walking into the her storage unit if they don't see her it's because they have crappy cameras or perhaps they don't care as long as they keep getting the monthly payments. read more
