    Doors of the bathroom at this location

    Dealing with this storage facility has been the worst customer experience I've had in my life. Less than a month ago, my girlfriend and I rented a unit at this location. It was their largest indoor, climate-controlled unit. Before signing the rental agreement, she talked with the front office about the safety of the location, asking about the CEN rating on the locks they provided, the security at the facility, etc. We were told that the location is under 24/7 security, and we trusted the overwhelmingly positive reviews here. On Monday of this week, we were contacted at 2pm CDT and informed that both locks (a $130 ABUS padlock and the provided Public Storage disc lock) had been cut off of our unit. What is a Property Manager doing on a Monday for over five hours after the location opens if not surveying the property to ensure its safety? My girlfriend went to the location and immediately called the police. It was only then disclosed that there was a burglary. The burglars seemed to hit very specific units, all across the first, second, and third floors. They seemed to know which units to go to, despite us having only accessed the units a few times and being very discreet with how we stored things. Half of our stored belongings were stolen, and the burglars left things that did not belong to us inside of our unit. We filed a police report with the Fort Worth Police Department and did not touch the contents of our unit, as it was effectively a crime scene and in case the insurance claims examiner would need to see the condition of the unit, request specific photos, etc. Public Storage provided us with another lock and key, we placed it on the unit, and left. Today, Wednesday, my girlfriend was called and asked if we had vacated the unit. We said no. We were told the unit had no lock on it and was now completely empty. The same burglars, using the exact same way of getting inside, had now stolen the remaining half of what was in our unit, which we were not even able to touch until we heard back from the claims examiner on our first burglary. I contacted the Property Manager and was provided no explanation or help. I talked to the District Manager (Troy Galer), whose only concern was expressing to me how bothered he was over the damages that the location suffered. He wasn't even aware that the location had been burglarized, completely pretended like he understood the situation and damages. There were no alarms, no security system. We signed a rental agreement based on the promise of "24/7 security," and we were provided none. The burglars used a COAT HANGER through the single set of doors to trigger the motion sensor on the inside. It looks like all they needed was an angle grinder to cut everyone's locks. That's $30 or less worth of equipment. That's how much money and effort it takes to burglarize this entire storage facility. This location and district does not care about keeping your belongings safe. They are paid by a billion-dollar company who does not care about making it right when they've clearly wronged and victimized a customer. Everyone involved has behaved with complete negligence. There aren't even cylinder locks on the doors at this location, as there are at others, which is just a conscious decision to make the storage units less safe. My girlfriend and I have been put through extreme stress and mental fatigue due to all of this. We have lost upwards of $50,000 worth of brand new items that we were expecting to put in a new home by the end of the year. We effectively paid $300 to have $50,000 worth of our belongings stolen. It would have been easier and safer to just purchase a small shed with a real alarm system. The staff at this location do not care, the District Manager does not care, and the Fort Worth Police Department has mentioned that many burglaries have happened at this location. I have rented at other locations for years at a time and never experienced this. Stay far away.

    I've been using this storage unit for a couple years now, and the only minor issue I've had with…read morethem is that their price has gone up over the last year. That's a bit of a bummer, but not totally unexpected or crazy or anything. This is a nice, clean, and safe facility (as far as I can tell!). Storage units always have a bit of a creepy factor no matter where they're located, especially if your unit is completely inside a building like mine. I will admit I feel a bit nervous every time I meander through the long identical hallways looking for my unit, and I feel like it'd be pretty easy to get lost in there... But you can always grab a map at the front desk or ask the staff to remind you which path to take! The staff has always been extremely helpful and readily available to answer questions, so you can count on that. Paying online is ultra easy and literally only takes two clicks once all of your payment information is entered. Just don't be late on your payment or they immediately tag on a $10 late fee. I do think this storage unit is a tad expensive, but again, nothing too out of the ordinary!

    Brace yourself for an electrifying -- if true -- review…read more If you're of the opinion that all storage units are pretty much created equally, I definitely invite you to go visit a few and get back to me: simply put, there are a wide variety of shenanigans going down at some of these places, and it can be noted that I've been to some where there have been (and I am not making this up), open fires in the parking lot and chatter of side businesses that would seem hysterical were it not for the fact that the man's dentures were rattling around in abject seriousness while he spoke of such side businesses. This, of course, is a story for another time over beers, but for the time being, suffice it to say that I decided to err in favor of sanity and rented a spot at Eagle, French for That Place Where Your Stuff Is Safe. Along the way, I learned lots of things, not the least of which is that A) apparently for some reason folks are renting many more of the climate controlled units than they had been before. There were details as to why, but somewhere in the middle, admittedly I tuned that part out. And B) they are, as one might expect, pretty adamant about the security part of the equation here. That means that you have to punch your code into the gate to get in (not unusual) and then punch it again to get back out again (less usual). What that means is that if some random fellow decides to gun it out of the parking lot behind you after dropping off his stuff -- but doesn't use the keypad -- an alarm goes off tied to the unit he came in under. So that's fun. All protocols aside, the spaces are well kept and the management seems to be genuinely on top of what's up: if you get deliveries from such services (as I occasionally do), you can predetermine who is kosher to drop stuff in your space, and even should you be out of town you can have them place your stuff in your absence. And that's pro enough for me. Thanks, Eagle. I'll keep an eye out for ya.

    New member here, and so far no complaints!…read more FAST FACTS: 1. Quick easy sign up online [ check ] 2. Well secured, keypads, locks, gates, etc. [ check ] 3. Great customer service [ check ] 4. Clean, air-conditioned unit [ check ] Is there anything else you need in a storage unit? Nope. MORE EXPLANATION: After moving, we realized we had too much stuff and needed a 10x5 storage unit. We did a quick deposit and claim online. It took minutes! Then, an email was sent to us with all the info needed to access the unit. Happy with how everything was panning out, we rolled over. However, when we got there, the unit was a bit of a surprise. It was a 10x5 unit but with a small door (not the most ideal for moving items in and out). I noticed there was other units available with bigger doors, so I thought... "Let's just ask if we can move units!" My husband was weary of this, but I advised him... "It's worth a shot! The worst they can do is say no. Let's go find someone!" When we got to the front desk, Jacob was there ready to help! He said, "That's not a problem! Let's fix this." In minutes, we were touring new units, transferring our lease and starting to move everything in. This would not have been possible without Jacob's professionalism, diligence and kindness. We are so grateful for his help! Extra thank you to Extra Space Storage for still having humans on site. It really makes a difference to consumers who need service.
