Well, Irma changed everything! At an extremely stressful time, they were there for me. I was concerned for the safety of my vehicle and when I asked Jamie if he had a unit available to garage my car... he came through. He found a last unit and completed the paperwork in just a few minutes. He stayed long enough to run several trips home and back to store 3 of our vehicle. Went up the elevator to see if any upstairs and there were not. Saw another guest inside and asked if they knew where they were. She said no I have not seen a cart in a long time. I went to the office to ask the guy there. He said no we don't have any. We had 1 but it got stolen. I said that is absolutely unacceptable. In your website it says there are carts to use. In the facility there are signs posted about carts. I called public storage to complain and they told me carts are just courtesy and they don't have to provide them. I am a single person and moving a whole U-Haul alone is hard enough. Then have to break the seal of the dolly to move 4 boxes at a time and carry everything else by hand was more than I had time or energy for but at that point I didn't have an option. Super disappointing all around. Not sure if these are franchise but it really should be an absolute need to have carts. If people steal them that should be a built in cost to the facility to account for. Don't let the bad people make the experience for the good ones an awful one.

Stuff happens and sometimes you need a place to park your stuff. If that happens to you, consider a storage unit. It was a great solution for us. We had a storage unit containing boxes of manuscripts (a family member left unpublished manuscripts and unfinished books from her published novel series). We also stored collectibles, music and movies, personal items, etc. We didn't worry about them because the building was secured (you have to enter your code to enter AND exit the parking lot or call the elevator). And each unit had a key-type padlock. The building was cool and spotlessly clean - not one piece of dirt or paper on the floor, anywhere. Even the elevator was friendly (it announced floor numbers to its passengers). They even had wheeled flatbed carts near the elevator. We were able to gain access to the unit 24/7 without issue. The parking spots were near the door so we didn't have far to go to load the car. It was easy and convenient. Recently, we decided to empty the unit because we realized we were storing items we planned on donating. We didn't want to pay a monthly fee for items we planned on giving away. The manuscripts and books went to a college affiliated with the author. The other items mostly went to the local library and Goodwill. We have some boxes in our garage - sadly not as climate controlled as SmartStop - prompting us to go through those boxes, soon! The office rep was very friendly and made our checkout a snap. There was absolutely nothing they could have done to make our experience better - other than not charging a monthly fee!

The guy there stored the car somewhere else until we could get it resolved. We were on our way to Orlando that day trying to get away from the Hurricane. We received a call a few hours later that the car was safe and in the storage. Paid for one month and received the other month free. Used it for the month of October (free month) and a few extra days in November. 5 days in November cost as much as a half a month. Not happy about that but, they were able to accommodate us.

There are dozens of units in a multi level building. The lights are on sensors in the hallways so they automatically go on when you enter the particular hallway. The price is much better! We are going to save a few $100 compared to a similar storage unit in Plantation. They have lots of parking available & there is easy access through a main front door. (No need for an electronic gate that takes forever!) The facility is well maintained and it is conveniently located off of Pine Island & Cleary Blvd. They have elevators & flatbeds available so it is easy to transport bulky items. It has been a godsend for us so we're hoping it will work out for years to come.
