Unprofessional , unhelpful, rude, terrible staff and worse facilities. Their elevator malfunctioned we called the property manager for help by the time they arrived the manager told us the facility was closed. Told us we were trespassing and then called the police!! Can you imagine? We waited for the police but after calling the manager left because they knew they would be in trouble for filing a false police report. Unbelievable treatment! We are going to cancel asap. And file a lawsuit. Beware of this facility. read more

It's a typical nyc business that says the value your business but in reality they are at war with their customers. Work in your space bring items in or out and the lights go out . Yes every couple of minutes you have to stop and bang something or walk around for the lights to come back on . And forget the website, it's laughable in keeping track of payments . I have continuously stored my property with this Public Storage location since moving to Long Island City from Atlanta in early 2020. The building has BY FAR the best entry and loading area of any that I have found - the driveway can accommodate everything from sedans to large box trucks with ease. Rob, the day-to-day manager does a fantastic job in maintaining a clean, inviting property. He greets every guest with a huge smile and has promptly addressed my every request and question. An added perk here is its proximity to the huge, affordable Food Bazaar grocery store. They practically share a driveway, and I can knock out all my errands at the same time! read more

Be careful - they will raise your rates an insane amount on you if you aren't careful. Currently the bill they are trying to get me to pay is above the rate they advertise for a space twice the size online. Quality is fine but there are several other spaces that are almost identical right down the street. From a business perspective it makes no sense - no rewards for customer loyalty, just raising rates on people when their facility is clearly not at capacity based on the advertised prices online. I requested that they match their advertised rate and was told by a representative that they wouldn't. From a business perspective it is cheaper to maintain me as a customer than to find a new customer. So give me the price that you would let a new customer pay. read more

the place is clean and staff very helpful. but they increase their rates too often and too high for the same service i have been getting for 4 years. effective march 1st my rate is going from $466. to $583. and getting out of it. lights are on sensors so electricity has not increased and they do nothing else to substantiate that type of increase. read more

I have been with PS since last July 2012 and although I do agree in the beginning it was super clean I was just there this past weekend (6/15) to begin moving out and discovered mouse droppings every where. The management did tell me they were having a mouse problem and I stated that they should probably send a mailing to all tenants to inform them. Now I have to go through each box to make sure I don't transport poop or a mouse to my new home. The many different staff I have come into contact with have always been wonderful. read more

i notice my tenant who has not paid his rent in 4 months is not responsive to my calls , emails and text and now i know why, he skipped town and basically left all his stuff in the apt . after finally leaving a bunch of messages telling him i would throw all his stuff in the garbage (i would never do that) he called me and will pick up all his junk in 2 months. i decided to box his stuff and take it to public storage on northern blvd and i will even pay for 2 months only and the rest is up to him . for 280 bucks for 2 months i was able to get a decent size room to store all his useless crap and its on the main level so its easy in and easy out. had my own dolly so i was able to fit all 8 boxes via one trip . i explained the situation to the manager and to my ex tenant which means after 2 months if the boxes are not picked up or he does not continue monthly payments all his boxes of crap belongs to public storage. read more

I was at extra space down the road until I needed a bigger unit. This place is cheaper by far. The friendly and attentive staff made it really easy to rent and move into a unit. The only negative is the ease of access to push carts (you have to get one from the management office). The unit and the overall space seemed very clean. Very clean facility, helpful people at desk (Jonathan), little annoying that bathrooms couldn't be used by customers and tiring having to enter door code each time to enter and to call an elevator, plus they need bigger carts. Luckily, Miriam was such a great help when I came in to check the facility out. Plus it was less expensive than I had anticipated. She made me feel good about being a horder on the low. I've been renting a storage room from this facility for about 10 months. From day one, there were issues. First they give my room away to somebody else, even after I made the arrangements two weeks in advance in person and confirmed the day before. It took them a good 1hr to find me a suitable room, as my movers waited around to unload. They even tried to offer me a room with a pillar in the middle at the same price. Just as we finished moving everything in, the door becomes un hinged. I inform the staff, they tell me, it will take a long time to fix. If i would like i can move all my items to another room. I refused to move everything over. 2 weeks later, several phone calls and an angry email to the regional manager, they finally fix my door. Months later the door is acting up again, this time when it rolls up, it won't stay up. I notified the staff of the issue. Once again 3 visits, several phone calls, calls to corporate 2.5 months later, ,my door gets fixed. I am at a lost for words on how a company can function like this. The response i received from the staff was "we need 5 issues with doors in order for a repair man to come in" WHAT??? Are you serious!! My move date is coming up and I couldn't be happier!!! I will never recommend this company to anyone. Customer's beware.. read more

We asked if there was an available garbage can on site to throw out a few minor items. We were told by the on site manager that our garbage belongs to us and that it would be a $200 fine if left behind. This responsiveness is unacceptable!! Was changing a payment method on my account and thought i set it up for automatic payment, turned out I didn't , wasn't informed that i am late with my payment until the late fee of $35 ws added to the balance!!!!! Tried to call customer service and explain the situation but they wouldn't even listen! First time i had to deal with something like that! First time late with the payment and they refused to take it off so i could go ahead and set up the automatic payment!!! The worst freaking place !!! HUGE MISTAKE to use them! My company uses this facility regularly as a vital component to our business. It's safe, secure, and for the most part very clean. The staff are almost always extremely nice and courteous, especially the full time employee named Giselle (sp), she always goes out of her way to make sure things run smoothly with our experience here at PS. We rent 6 large units, and over our time with them we have expanded, this has always been seamless- we could call the day of a storage run, and by the time we arrived a large unit would be ready for us as would all necessary paperwork. 5 star staff for sure. Pushcarts here aren't ever an issue for us as we bring our own dollies with, but I get the sense that other customers find them to be plentiful, and easily accessible. I would recommend this PS to anyone. read more

I just got a letter saying my rent has been increased by $29! And, the best part, not explanation. So I just called customer service and Roxanne told me that it was due to the fact that "it has become more expensive to run their business, so we get an increase. That this was already stated in the agreement we signed with Public Storage the day we first rented the unit, that we were subject to rent increases." So, to all persons out there: read, read, read what they write. How can they just, all of a sudden, increase our rent for about $30? Do you know the groceries I can buy with that for my children? So, Corporate dictates that they need a new brand yacht this summer and we, the poor customers, who still earn the same salary, have to accept a rent increase no one seems to have a reasonable explanation for? Don't fall for the online promotion prices. It's a 6 month bait and switch. The same thing happened to me that has happened to others . This place sucks, no other way to put it. They will raise your rate 20% within 3-6 months of you schlepping all your stuff there. And when you mention it to management, they will tell you to read the fine print and that they can raise it whatever amount the want to. Not sure if there are better options out there, but this is not a good one. read more

I have been with PS NY about almost 5 years. In fact, I did not come often to my storage, but every time I went there the staff used to close premise between 30-40 minutes before the schedule time. They allegation are because they are in restrooms or doing something else inside. The clerks are not polite and seems that they are there just to wait the time to go home. They always close the main doors even one hour before. I experienced that many times I went there. This is a main thing I think the manager have to fix it, because you pay to have access to premise once on weekday everyone is working. For that reason I will close my account in the end of this month(May 2016). read more

I had enjoyed using it till this month- suddenly, they sent a letter that they wanted to do the renovation so that they wanted people in the facility out within a few weeks. I am sure they decided the plan of construction quite a long time ago but they just noticed the tenants only a few weeks prior to the due date. Their attitude was horrible and very unfriendly. I needed to move to a new unit in the same facility, which didn't look like the video of their facility, very old, musty and not nice at all. They kicked out the tenants but they didn't arrange the mover or moving stuff to the new unit. I was so surprised the way of this business- now, they said even the old units were full, many of tenants who used the same facility as I used should move out to another place. I never recommend this place till they change their business attitude- they should learn how to operate business and respect customers read more
