Very disappointed with there policy of hiring a lock smith when someone loses there key issued by PS. Having to 7-10 days and to complete reissue of lock. They do not consider how much if an inconvenience it is to leave work call lock smith and have to wait 7-10 days to change the lock. They nickel and dime you when they know you are in need of help. Expect $150 increase inr rate any month. They have nearly doubled from our original rate a year ago (from $300 to $550) for 10'x30' unit.

I'm in a transition period right now, so I had to move out of my apt and put stuff in storage. I didn't think it was much of a big deal, but apparently it is. I went online to make the reservation. Simple enough. I called and made a reservation to fill out the paperwork. Ok. I showed up about 15 minutes late. "I'm here to pick up the keys and stuff" "You don't pick up keys, you have to fill out your paperwork" said with a snide attitude. "ok... can I fill it out now?" "what is the name on the appointment" (I found that odd, I don't know why he didn't just ask me for my name) I give him my name. "you have to go across the street" I go and there is no one there. I wait about 5 minutes and come back. I wait patiently in line AGAIN for about 5 minutes "hey, no one was there, can you help me?" "no, you were late for your appointment, you'll have to come back tomorrow" **frustration building** "what time can I come in?" he then gives me this sarcastic look "ok... what is the earliest time I can make the appointment" "10" FINE. I'll come back tomorrow. BUT, as I leave, I decide to drive across the street, and LOOKY HERE, the other person is there. I get out of my car to ask her for help, but she gives me the same BS. Now I'm being a little negative, but I'm guessing he called over to her as I was walking over the first time to hide or whatever. THEN, I come back the next day, same crappy customer service. Now, I'm not expecting him to put have fresh baked cookies out for me, but maybe a smile, good morning, anything. He walks me over to my unit (and one of his shoes was untied by the way). As the process is ending, he asks me "oh you put DoD, Dept of the Army here as your employer, are you in the Army" "Well, I work for them as a civilian and I am in the Army Reserve" "ok..." I wait a couple minutes. "Why does it need to be noted that I'm in the Army" "Well, a year ago a Soldier deployed stopped paying and we had to cut his lock and sell his stuff. When he came back he brought that to the news, so now we're generally nicer to people in the Service" AT THAT POINT, he actually smiled and was friendly. WTF. Your belongings are not safe at this location. My unit along with multiple others were broken into on 10-20-17. When I signed up I was told there is 24 hour surveillance but come to find out there is no surveillance for each aisle, only front gate. Jenn was at the front desk when we arrived to see which items were stolen and she was rude, unprofessional, and not sympathetic. Her only agenda was to tell me Public Storage is not responsible and seemed to care less that our personal belongings had been stolen on their property and added insult to injury. The Milpitas police officer was kind and told us this particular area is subject to high volume of crime. I am updating my review because of the horrible move out service that I received in August 2017. If I could give this place minus stars then I would. The only reason why I gave it a 5 star review in the first place is because every time we saw Nate, he would ask me to rate the place with 5 stars and give a good review about himself, then he would say he would take care of us but in the end that never happened so here goes to my honest, truthful review. Just FYI, there are other people like Jennifer who works in the office besides Nate but I didn't see any nice review about her. Well she was very friendly and helpful so thank you to Jennifer! Warning: This review will be long.... Before I get into my move out experience, this place is conveniently located next to a dry creek bed so there are plenty of homeless people living out of the units like the guy that I met when I first moved my stuff in there who occupied a unit that was close to mine, very nice guy though. We also encountered plenty of roaches, spiders, and mice droppings which told us that this place is not very well taken care of in the rodent department. Now onto my move out experience: From the moment I moved out on 8/5/17 til 9/12/17 I have had nothing but problems and miscommunication with this place. When I moved out on 8/5/17, I informed Jennifer that I vacated the unit and she told me that I was good to go without owing anything and that I can keep my lock. Didn't even have me sign any paperwork or try to get up to walk over to the unit with us to check it out. A few days later, Jennifer called me and stated the district manager said I owed a balance of $28.00 for August 1-5. Ok fine, however, due to a busy schedule and illness in my family, I was unable to make it over to pay before they closed. When I got an invoice from over $300 in September, I called the office on 9/7/17 and spoke to Nate. He was unaware of the $28.00 that was discussed to me and that he was going to go check my unit and call the district manager then call me back. He never called back so I called the office again on 9/11/17 and spoke to Jennifer. She said that there is nothing she can do about the $300 plus balance and that I should have came in sooner to pay the $28.00. She then gave me the phone number to the district manager, Joan. When I spoke to Joan that same day, she was very rude and unprofessional. She claims that earlier in the morning she had to have the lock cut off of my unit and put a lien on my stuff. I explained to her that I didn't have anything in the unit and I took the lock with me. She said she would send me pictures of all my stuff, which never happened. I'm still waiting for that email with the pictures of my "stuff". She then told me that if I had to the lock, that I needed to take it to the office to show them. I cleared my schedule and took some time off work just to take the lock to the office. Nate was working that day. He told us that they had to cut off the lock and are holding my stuff for lien but I said, how did you cut off my lock when I have it here in my hand and how are you holding my stuff that never existed in the unit since I moved it all out? I asked to see camera footage of the unit because either A) Nate tried to set me up by putting one of their locks on and throwing junk in the unit when he went to go check on it that day when he never returned my call, or B) Another homeless person decided to move their stuff into my empty unit because Jennifer never went over to look at the unit the day I moved out. So guess what? They don't have any cameras on the property to watch the units except the fuzzy camera pointed at the entrance/exit gate. I advised him to check the code log to see when the last time I used my in and out code was, he would see that the last time I used the code was the day that I moved out on 8/5/17.... I still never heard back from them as to whether or not I owed the $28.00 even after proving that I had the lock. So here I am, still with a balance of $300 plus for some stuff that doesn't even belong to me. Today 10/16/17, I actually received a collection call for the $300 plus balance but I get the last laugh since I'm filing bankruptcy and they won't be getting a penny of my money... They should have cooperated and accepted the $28.00 when they had the chance. Moral of the story, DO NOT RENT A UNIT FROM THIS UNSECURED, INFESTED, NON-CUSTOMER SERVICE PLACE THAT WILL TRY TO ROB YOU!! read more

Went to get something out of my storage unit this weekend and found out that after paying for this unit for the last 5 years, they had cut my lock and replaced it with one of their own because I was a little late on a payment sometime in 2016. To rectify the situation, they want an extra $120 to get access to my stuff. read more

If you are a senior citizen, avoid this place at all costs. They are heartless and unsympathetic to the elderly. My folks, who are in their mid 70's are moving up north and are using the Public Storage at Watson in Milpitas. Not only are they using their facilities, but also arranged a Budget Moving Van from them. They have only been there about a month and have used about $500 in services. Last night, 1/31/09, my folks wanted to down size to a smaller unit, They were told that they had to vacate the place by 5:00PM. So my poor parents worked their tail off to clear the unit. They completely cleared it out by 4:45PM, but that was not good enough for the heartless lady. My parents stored the items outside the unit and were going to move it to the smaller unit. But in her eyes, they were not "vacant," and was going to charge them for another day. My parents were frustrated but had more work ahead of them, so they did not let that bother them too much. Meanwhile, they moved all the other items to the front of the smaller unit, which needed to be carefully stored. She kept hounding them that they had to have it all in by 9:00 PM. 8:45PM she brings her snooty attitude and tells them that they will never finish. 9:00PM comes and there were a couple of items left to be stored. But you will never believe what she did. She kicked out the poor old folks and told them they had to leave all of their belongings in the street, overnight. My parents were so stressed that we had to take my mom to the hospital because of chest pains. They only needed a few minutes more to complete the job, but the mean lady would have nothing to do with it. These people live on the property so it is not like a huge burden to them. Also, my parents parked the vehicle outside the property, so they could of let them out themselves. I think the public should be aware of how poor customer service is at this place. Be sure to look elsewhere. They are not the only storage unit in town. Meanwhile a message to the lady, "I hope your parents are not as rudely treated as you treated mine." read more

I found black widow spiders 2 wks after moving into my unit! It's because the units have wooden walls (which attract bugs), a lot of dust, and are not fumigated between tenants. Also many units have badly corroded doors. They "fixed" that by bolting metal sheets over the worst doors and painting them. I moved out immediately. read more
