The place is conveniently located for me, and the people working there seemed reasonable, though often there was no one in the office. BUT THE FACILITY ITSELF WAS SHOCKINGLY BAD FOR THE PRICE. No climate control at all, freezing in winter and very hot in summer. Moths got into some rugs and hangings stored there, and I had to throw them away. A trunk with clothing in it, as well as boxes of books and papers were very musty smelling, the items in the trunk so bad they too had to be thrown out. All this for a small (5x5) unit which started out a few years ago at $108 a month but had been $259/mo. for quite a while by the time I vacated it. Glad to be out of there! read more

Couldn't even access the facility. No codes worked, the app didn't work, no one was in the front office and I went by twice on two separate days. No one picked up the phone either on those days. Tried calling the general public storage number and all I got was an automated message. Online I could only use a chat box and it couldn't connect me to an agent. I would never store any belongings of any value with Public Storage Our unit was broken into, many items were stolen. Our door was not secure in any way, and was literally levered off. The staff was also aware that these thefts were occurring and even knew the tenant who was stealing the items. Related to the utterly poor and insecure design of our door, there was also a dead light which darkened the already poor lit hall around my unit even more. This light was never replaced in over the year that we stayed. Our rates also steadily increased over time. The management was apathetic to any ask for assistance and it is blatantly obvious no one here has a desire to run a upright business. Moved our stuff to a storage company on near Trader Joes, their name rhymes with Colt Morage. Lower rates and a price lock, plus a free moving Truck which looked stunning parked outside of Public Storage as we moved our belongings to our new, cheaper, better lit, more secure (key codes in the elevators!), And better in seemingly every way, storage unit. Price quoted was for an 80 sq ft unit. Special deal for 50% off first month. That unit had an 18" air duct running through it- 6-10 inches away from two walls so taking up at least 2sq ft and making it undesirable- The next unit... farther from elevator , 80 sq ft, something like $30 more a month. No move in discounts. Soaked for extra money for mandatory insurance. Felt like a bait n switch throughout the process. Manager on duty (Justin?) said he would try to work on it but it's been a week and haven't heard anything. read more

Such a good experience having stored our things here! Wesley the manager is very accomable and flexible which our time here very pleasant. Very easy to access your things daily from 6am to 9pm. My sister rented a storage space here to house family possessions belonging to my late parents, including a bicycle, china, antique furniture, etc. She recently went to retrieve my late mother's Christmas tree and ornaments, and was was dismayed to find that her lock and been removed and replaced with a different one--one that was not PS approved. She asked for bolt cutters and was told that PS does not keep them on premises. The hell? She was told that the District Manager would have to let her in, and that the DM was out of town for the weekend. How was there NO ONE ELSE who could open the locker? TWO DAYS later, my sister met the DM at the facility. The woman was beyond rude, rolling her eyes and audibly sighing when my sister said she wanted to video the opening of the locker. The DM bolted out of there as soon as she was able to, after implying that all of this was my sister's fault, and acting put out that she had to be there at all. THIS IS YOUR BUSINESS. BE PROFESSIONAL. My sister had called the police to be there in the event that there was a theft. Which there was. Upon cutting off the unauthorized lock, it was discovered that everything in the locker had been ransacked, including our late father's military foot locker. Pieces of his uniform, which we have always treated with the utmost respect it deserves, had been strewn around the space. At least two of the medals he received for serving his country as a career officer are gone. My family and I are beyond appalled by the fact that this could happen in the first place, and even more so by the absolutely callous disregard and behavior on the part of the District Manager. Word to the wise: keep your family items elsewhere, and avoid Public Storage on Stone's Way at all costs. It could cost you more than you would ever think. read more

I've never had to store anything before like this - so this was a new experience for me. I'm not sure why but I expected some dusty, dank building more suited to store garbage than my material possessions. And though I'm sure there is plenty of garbage being stored there - the facility is clean, dry and pretty much everything you really need in a storage building. The guy who helped us (wish I could remember his name!) was very polite. He had to leave before helping us in order to assist a woman with an unusually large order, but he was very apologetic and professional about it and we had no problem waiting for him outside the office. The pricing was well below what I expected; the terms of the lease and the charges were all laid out and explained to me; in no way did I feel like I was being snaked or that I was being sold something - I told him my needs, he addressed them, signed papers... done. All very easy. Moving and packing is stressful enough - combined with a lack of caffeine, two sore backs and a to-do list longer than Charlie Sheen's STD report - Public Storage made it just a little easier by not being total asshats or delaying my rapid descent into homelessness. read more

Although I don't care for the concept or experience of paying to store stuff, I found myself in need of a place to keep things for the 6 months surrounding my wedding. I was really apprehensive about getting a storage unit, and when we visited this location, I was WOWED by the customer service. Wesley V. was the man! From the moment we walked into the office for the first time, he was amazing. Friendly, patient and professional. I was sold! Not only was he great when we signed up, he continued to be friendly and helpful the entire 6 months we had our storage unit, and was even nice when it was time for us to cancel our storage unit. The location is easy enough to get to, and the un/loading area is accessible with a cargo van; you'll need to park next to the building outside the gated area to unload a bigger (U-Haul, Penske, Ryder box truck) or moving trucks. The exit of the gated area is a very tight turn. We were helped by Wesley and Deleon who were both very friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous. We felt taken care of, had all our questions answered, given a quick "how to" at the security gate, and the rules were laid out in a straightforward manner. read more

Sure, there is the usual "cheap intro price then jack up the rates over and over" issue. But there is a more fundamental problem here... no carts! I've been in repeatedly over the past month or two to access my storage unit and it is nearly impossible to get a cart. One time the gentleman working there said they didn't have any and they had all been stolen. Another time they had one but it was in use and "corporate won't give us any money to buy more". It is a little worrying if the place isn't even secure enough for them to be willing to provide carts for fear they will be stolen! read more

The last two times I've been for an appointment, the gent in the office was Wesley and he was very efficient and solid. The Storage units (i now have 3 at the same site) are exactly as advertised: clean and empty. The elevators and hallways are wide enough to navigate with the carts that are supplied in the parking area, which is also very navigable. If you gotta store stuff away from home, between the UW Dist. and Fremont, and have the scratch, I recommend this place! read more

I will never return to Public Storage! Our unit was broken into, many items were broken and one piece is stolen. The burglar simply climbed over the wall and into the unit through a precut hole in the wire mesh that the facility already had conveniently created for an unknown purpose. The ceiling, and my broken pieces all had marks from the burglar shoes. It was a Saturday when we found the damage and the attendant on duty that day was a sub from another facility. He was sympathetic but had no idea of the protocol and only hours later managed to find an insurance brochure and gave it to me. No actual help or practical information came from the facility, neither they told me to call the police right away to file a report. The person on duty supposedly called the manager to let them know. I tried calling the manager myself a few times to follow up, to see if there was a report from their side or security camera footage. Left messages but no one returned my call to this day. On that same day, I found the security door to the entire facility broken. I decided to move out and immediately started taking action. In the past 2 weeks, I was there on 3 different occasions to complete the moving out and the security door is still broken (anyone could just walk into the building and hide in any of the units). Our rates steadily increased over time to over double of what I used to pay 4 years ago when I'd started renting the unit. Let this be a warning to all of you in need long term storage!!! Also, be aware that Public Storage has stopped prorating. Did it without any notification to renters. Once you start the rental month, you are paid until the end of the month no matter how early you move out. This way they can charge twice for the same unit. read more

WARNING: this place may raise your rent very frequently! ...and gets a little worse... I rented out a unit at the Stone Way location, moved in at a rate of 190/month and left 8 months later at 220! They quickly raised the price once i moved in. Didn't ask me if I could afford it, didn't check if money was tight at the moment, didn't even notify me other than sending me a higher bill. They don't care, like many people and of course just want your money and they know how expensive and time consuming it is to move elsewhere if you don't like them taking more of the money YOU worked for, (or If you own a big business, then the money your EMPLOYEES worked for and you probably from them, much like a parasite...congrats..) Anyways... I also moved out in the middle of the month giving them advance notice (to get a new tenant, understandable) and asked if they would prorate the rent, giving me the money from the portion of the month that they weren't providing me with any service or product in return, and they essentially responded with" nah, we'd rather keep that money you worked for, thanks!" Please, PLEASE, unless this location and/or company is perfect for you, please don't support businesses like this who really just want to get as much money as possible from your pockets and simply put it into theirs. Find the people that do and support them! How to find those people? Besides the reviews of course, look at company policies, they should somewhat reflect the values the people behind the company have. There are some really humble, reasonable people out there that just want things to be fair, lets support them. read more

I've used this facility several times for temporary storage when moving. It's amazingly convenient and security overall is quite good. You can manage the cost by providing your own lock and insurance, and also by limiting your rental to just 30 days, if that's a possibility for you. Wesley, the manager, made the process very simple for me and also explained everything in the contract quickly and completely. Why can't banks do this when you're applying for a loan or buying a house? One more thing I'd like to mention. I really only needed this storage for 30 days, and they let me reserve a unit a week ahead of time. In other words, I didn't start using it until I really needed it, but I was able to lock in the storage unit and the price. Very helpful for them to allow this. I also bought 10 boxes here, which were priced right. Only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 is because they advertise the units at a special rate for one month, but that rate is not necessarily available all the time. Depends on how full the facility is. First time I came in to rent a spot there were none of the low-cost units available. read more

I went to rent a storage unit and was very pleased with the way that they handled customer service. They set me up with the correct size of a unit and were very friendly when explaining everything that I needed to know. George is the one who helped me, and he was a great contact person- unfortunately very robotic while working with customers. Also, I gave four stars because I feel like when I called and was given a quote they didn't share with me all of the hidden fees like: buying a lock, or having insurance on a storage unit. While this may be common sense to most people- this was surprising for me. I enjoyed that I got a good deal, so it wasn't a big ordeal, but I expected to pay the amount that I was quoted, and instead needed to spend more money on the "hidden costs." Overall great customer service, and friendly, helpful company. read more

This place is the worst. I had thousands of dollars of items stolen from my unit here. Wesley knew exactly who had done it and knew that my unit wasn't secure, because apparently it's all too easy to pop the external hinges off of their "secure" storage units. When I filed a police report, wesley promised me they that they would notify my when they were going to auction the items in the storage unit of the man who he knew to be stealing from my unit. Not only did they never inform me so that I could recover my items, but they never offered me a unit with a door that is actually secure. They auctioned off all of the items in that unit, which leads me to believe this was an inside job. Furthermore, when I finally did get Wesley to offer me a unit that was secure - 7 months later, he gave it away hours before I was able to move into it. To top it off, their district manager, Kevin Bridges, has ignored every email and call up until calling him from the actual storage location's front office. When I finally got a hold of him, he said he wasn't going to do about it. read more
