Great unit, easy to access, and the guy who showed me to my unit was helpful and friendly, but the person working at the front desk got so worked up by my mom and I simply waiting in line while they were helping another customer and it was quite bizarre. The guy literally looked like he as going to have an anxiety attack and said I can give you pricing but not show you the unit. Like WtF! Come on. My daughter is too nice and said ok bye. If you know you're not going to help people at a certain time then say, hey we're closing at 2 but we would like our last walk in at 12. But in my mind, and from the few I've seen, they are kind of cold and dingy, with similarly featured employees. While looking for a place in the SODO area, google wasn't giving me much to work with. So yelp to the rescue! I found this page, with no reviews. I figured, well, let's check it out. So I went today and wow! I reserved my storage unit on the spot. Why? -Super friendly and knowledgeable staff -Gorgeous facility; clearly a lot of thought was put into its design and maintenance -Lots of security cameras and locks to make you feel secure -7 day a week access, 5am-11pm (the hours listed above are when someone is at the front desk) -40 (!) different unit sizes to choose from; not just 5x5 or 5x10 -They are a little bit more expensive than your Public Storage, but are currently running a deal that makes it comparable. I never thought I'd do a review for a storage business - but what the heck. I've been using this place for my storage needs for a couple of years now. The location is great. They have two covered loading docks to make access to your unit super easy. The staff is very friendly, and to top it off... it's all climate controlled. One of the big plusses is the hours, you can get to your storage unit between 5am and 11pm. Very convenient. I did have a small challenge here where a leak began to develop in my unit. Fortunately nothing was damaged, but they quickly moved me to a bigger unit, kept my rates the same, gave me a one time additional discount and made it a very simple and easy process without any need for me to push them to take care of me. So, we need a storage unit. Not the highlight moment of anyone's life. It's a pain in the cracker to move crap, it only reinforces the fact you've gone horribly wrong at some point that you have too much stuff for wherever you're living, and you realize the entire contents of your storage locker aren't probably worth what you're paying for the locker itself. All that said, going to Urban Storage makes all those things fall to the wayside with their cheerful staff, awesome facilities, and big trays of bottled water that you will inevitably knock over if you aren't paying attention pulling the rolly-cart out of the elevator (sorry about that). Add to all these great things the superhero Cam who took care of us at every turn, helped us out with a rental truck, gave us a smile even when he was six-customers deep, and clearly loves making sure the customer experience is a great one. Storage spaces make me grumpy and Cam turned my frown upside down! You can't go wrong at Urban Storage. A band of rockstars that happen to rent storage units. FACT. ***FOLLOW UP*** After I posted this, the owner of the facility sent me a personal note thanking me and asking for any critical feedback I can provide. I haven't actually put my stuff in storage yet, but the set up and service was so pleasant and easy I have full faith that I'll be a customer here for the long-term. My bestie and I showed up this evening to check out some available units for our upcoming move. Jim greeted us at the door (super friendly) and started walking us through all the available configurations and sizes for the items we wanted to store. No bs, or upselling here folks. Jim told us straight up that we wouldn't need anything bigger than a 5'x8' and showed us storage n00bs how we should ideally stack up our belonging to maximize the vertical space. Verbatim, "we only charge you square footage, so you should stack things as high as you can so you don't have to pay for a bigger unit." Honestly, costs are probably about 5%...maybe 10% more than Public Storage. But these guys were easy to work with, the facilities were virtually spotless, and the security so reassuring that I'd much rather give my hard-earned dollars to a local(ish) business to keep my favorite teddy bears and precious kitchen equipment safe. Also, they're running a 25% off special right now for the first 6 months, making them cheaper than Public Storage. read more

I have been a client of Urban storage for 18 months now. they had been great up to a few months ago but I can only call them good currently. I commend them for their actions when a toilet in the adjoining office space on the other side of the wall directly in front of my unit overflowed and water ran into my unit getting everything on the floor wet. I can't do a lot of lifting anymore due to a neurological condition and bad shoulder and I was REALLY stressed by this incident. but they rose to the call and hired a moving team at no cost to me to come in an repack everything that got wet into new dry moving boxes. that was incredible! but since this past spring I have been suddenly getting what I would call unfortunately worded voice messages and emails about my storage unit bill being past due a day or two after the due date. my rental contract is quite clear that I have a 10 day grace period from the due date to pay my rent. After the grace period my rent is "past due". they need to change the message to you rent is "now due" during the grace period. and "past due" only after the grace period expiration. these immediate Past due messages make urban storage appear singularly focused on money and not the customer service experience. I will say the current messages though not great are a modest improvement or the original ones which were ambiguous and made it sound like something terrible had happened to your unit, something bad and you needed to call them right away. having been the victim of a storage unit break in at my previous storgage unit place, that first phone message triggered a near anxiety attack. I can only hope they will do better. read more

Mike is extremely helpful with storage unit size and location, + anything else you need for a move including U-Haul trucks - carts and dollies and packing supplies. Solid storage unit. Not open 24-hours, but this makes it more secure. There are carts available for larger loads. I dock one star because of an incident on move-out though. I left my ID there, and it took a call from me 16 hours later to confirm that they had it. They could have called me, they had my info and those things are kind of important. read more

I have used this storage facility since Aug. 2017. The facilities are modern and temp controlled as well as secure. The only problem I have is street parking for when I need to run something up to the unit and there is extremely limited street parking or parking for non-work loft people. There should be temporary parking made available for those instances. It makes it difficult to do any sorting in the unit because there isn't a safe place to park while I'm up there. Counter staff are helpful when they are there. Would be helpful to have better coverage at front desk for questions, etc. read more

I really loved my unit when I first moved my things in, but now with all of the construction beside of the building and the fact that companies with lots of branded vehicles are constantly taking up the bay space to load and unload their products, it's nearly impossible to park even a car to load or unload during any normal business hours. Every time I go by I end up circling for 15-20 min waiting to find a place to park and sometimes just give up. It's really frustrating and I have no idea what I'll do when I need to move everything out of the unit with a large vehicle. The management is so nice and I love the unit, but the parking situation has ruined this business in my opinion. If I was looking for a unit today, I'd definitely look for a place with less activity. read more

Mathew Lemkin (asst manager) and Jim (relief manager) were extremely unprofessional and hung up on me multiple times and refused to answer any of my questions regarding my rental that I had a guaranteed reservation that they gave my truck to another customer. When trying to convey my disappointment when I specifically reserved this truck and they guaranteed my rental to be there with a $50 guarantee, Jim told me he'd report me and block me from renting from them ever again. This my friends is how the management deals with customers when THEY didn't honor our guaranteed reservation. They block the customer from complaining or renting ever again when they overbook. This place is a joke and the manager seems to enjoy the conflict with customers and refusing to answer their questions. He laughed when he gave me his full name and even made sure I had I correct so I could "report him" (his words) and laughed as if he's untouchable. No worries Mathew and Jim, I never want to experience such poor customer service and waste my time making a reservation with uhaul again or give a dime to a business that treats their customers this way. There are tons of truck rentals in the greater seattle area so do yourself a favor and pass by uhaul if you actually want to rent and have a truck when you reserve it. read more

This is a very clean location and I feel safe going to and from my storage unit. The staff is very friendly and even willing to go that extra mile and work with you to increase or decrease your storage as your needs change. I've rented units from SureGuard, Public Storage, Vault Storage, Vine St Storage, and a few others over the last 15 years. Without doubt, Urban Storage stands alone as the best. They have the latest access hours in Seattle, competitive pricing, and security that is as good as I've seen. From there it is the customer service, lead by manager Michael, that far exceeds the others. I have special needs from a storage facility and Mike has gone out of his way to accommodate them. When my needs have gone contrary to the rules of the facility (staying late, items outside of unit), Mike has worked with me to help me achieve my goals in a way that works with the requirements of the facility. Other places just issue warning or threatening eviction. Other examples of their outstanding service: 1) I have left the building without locking my unit twice in the last year. Mike and staff noticed within hours, locked the unit with one of their locks and called me immediately. Naturally, nothing in the unit was missing or even displaced. 2) I sent a friend to fetch an item from my unit, and staff called me immediately to verify that I had authorized access. 3) I accidentally left an item outside my unit and went home. Mike moved it to the office for safekeeping rather than summarily tossing it out, which I have experienced elsewhere. 4) Professional and friendly at all times. ...there is more but suffice it to say that I drive a few extra miles, past other storage facilities, to rent at Urban Storage. read more

I have never put anything into storage before, and was primarily worried about safety of my belongings, and just the uncomfortable feeling with having your things locked in a random locker on the other side of town... After reading reviews, and comparing options, Urban Storage looked like the clear winner. It was a little more expensive than other options, but the lower anxiety and frustration is totally worth the small difference in price (and they often have specials that make the prices lower than the competitors). We moved everything in today and I couldn't be happier. Despite the location in Sodo, the facility feels very secure and my personal locker additionally secure. Their security system connects your personalized entry code with your personal locker locking mechanism, so they know exactly who is coming and going and which lockers are being opened by the people coming and going. My only drawback is that the place is a large maze and I got lost finding our locker a few times (the only thing I would change about this place would be adding signs on the floors to point people towards their locker numbers-- I am going to need them to show me my location when I go to move everything out :)). Overall the facility is well ventilated, well lit, and clean. Leading up to our move today, all of my interactions with their staff have been pleasant and helpful. l feel confident we made the right choice, and I'm going to bed tonight feeling comfortable that my belongings are secure. read more

Once I lost the credit card I had my reoccurring payment on and although they have a penalty for late payments they didn't charge me. These are great guys and a great company. read more
