Rates were raised in a 6 month span approx 120.00 for my unit and then I moved out very early the morning of the 3rd (that's the day my house closed escrow) and was charged an entire month for that unit. Greedy money-grubbers During my one month $1, they charged my credit card for the following month (even though I told them I would only be there one month.) Then when I vacated the unit they ran my refund for $200 and told me it could take a day or two. It's been almost two weeks and NO REFUND in sight, despite calling numerous times, leaving messages, etc no one has returned my call or told me how it will be resolved. If they can charge your card, they're happy, but if you need a refund, they disappear. read more

Service: HORRIBLE Quality: HORRIBLE Value: HORRIBLE We rented an outdoor storage space for our boat over the phone and were given the lot number and assured the facility was secure. We were told that we would receive a call back from the person on site to tell us where our spot was located. We did not receive a call back and when we arrived there was no one to show us where our space was located so we walked around to see if we could find it. None of the outdoor spaces were numbered or defined, it was more like parallel parking against a fence on one side of the property, or a hill on the other side of the property. We opted for the hill side since it was much wider and an easier option for parking a boat. We called and left 3 messages for the onsite manager to call us back, ultimately explaining where we parked the boat. We did not feel comfortable leaving it there but we didn't have another option. No one ever called us back and when we picked up the boat the next day we were told we were in the wrong spot. We canceled the account (no refund of our $350) and will NEVER store anything with this company again. read more

I stored one of my Japanese imports while I was on a trip inside the fenced storage for about a 2 months. I get a call while I for that my window was broken, to call my insurance and to come handle it. No apologies no offer to cover it back up, just "come deal with it." Everything inside was just old clothes and books but my van was destroyed. There were no cameras pointed at my spot, or anywhere around there. The front desk lady didn't even know about it. No police were called, and they couldn't tell me what day it even happened. The facility isn't secure, do not park your vehicles there. read more

As we are well aware, Seattle has grown exponentially and has become a city of transplants. I am one of them who has jumped the bandwagon of mass exodus to the Pacific Northwest. After six months, my partner and I purchased one of the few new construction homes in the city of Seattle. The completion date was slated for our year and one month anniversary of Washington residency. Given that we signed a year lease in Ballard, we were stuck with a single month to not only find a place to reside, but store all of our belongings and valuables. I searched all over the region and came across People's Storage that was conveniently within a mile from the new pad. I was skeptical to use Public Storage since I was fairly new to using storage units and they were a large company chain. A month before the temporary move, I stopped in the Highland Park Public Storage and had the pleasure to meet Rhiannan. After an hour of discussing what Public Storage had to offer (i.e. pricing, security, insurance, access, etc.) and what size unit would fit our needs (options range from 5'x5' to 10'x25'), I was sold and very pleased with this location and the customer service. The other positive reviews found on Yelp, Google and their website (http://www.publicstorage.com/washington/self-storage-seattle-wa/98106-self-storage/1905) made me feel more at ease. Since reservations could only be made a week in advance, Rhiannan offered to keep an eye on the availability of our desired size unit. Out of pure luck, one appeared exactly a week before the big move and Rhiannan called me to have me place the reservation through their user-friendly website with a visual size guide and auto-payment system. It is worth mentioning that Public Storage was hosting an online special of $1 for the first month of rental (ending up being $22 total after insurance, taxes, administrative fee and what not)!! This was well within our budget and quite a steal. In the end, I am very content with our temporary storage involving its customer service, close location to our new house, pricing and security. In case you find yourself in a similar situation, here are a few tips: -This location sells various packing products. -I recommend monitoring prices and specials online before booking---often better than in person pricing. Then take advantage of their Express Check-in requiring only a form of payment and identification on the move-in date. -Security includes various cameras, tall gates and a 24-hour keypad for access in and out of the property. The key pads are about 5-10 feet from the entrance gate. read more

I rented one unit to store my motorcycle in, one that has a roller door and drive up, now I needed a second unit, seeing as how I thought the first unit seemed adequate I would rent another here. Turns out my second unit is located on a 2nd floor that has stairs and a very steep ramp. The floors in this building are painted gray with industrial paint, and very glossy, which makes them slick with wet shoes. The steep ramp is also painted the same way, very glossy....it seems that someone forgot to add non-slip particules to the paint as it is very slippery. What are you guys thinking.? You have a ramp at 35 degrees and put a plastic paint on it without some form of abrasive material to prevent a person from slipping. It's difficult enough trying to get anything to roll up this ramp and it's very dangerous when something is extremely heavy. You need to address this issue immediately before someone gets seriously hurt. I had to use a rope to harness my cart from going back down the ramp because of the incline. Maybe you should install a lift in the ramps place, because the ramp is a very poor choice. Now to my unit. Why does it have 3 doors.? And I have to provide 3 locks or pay your astronomical my over priced locks which harbor freight sells for $7.50. This unit sucks. read more

One word: rodents. Some of our furniture and boxes of belongings were damaged due to rats/mice burrowing in our unit - including an antique chair that I'm really sad about. They have rat traps set all around the property, but they apparently aren't enough. This place was so expensive to rent, I feel like with those high prices they could afford professionals to take care of the problem. I don't know. No shade to the employees here, they do their jobs and were easy to work with. We found a cleaner facility for much lower rent and moved the belongings we were able to salvage there. read more

We have had the worst experience with this company. They have cost our company over $5000 because they consistently do not do what they say they are going to. The customer service is HORRIBLE. The billing is inaccurate. The storage units crummy. Our door broke and we had to move our companies belongings and rent equiptment to do so. We were promised credits that were never received. Our crew was locked in the facility and literally stuck for 2 hours because the gate code was not set up properly. The list goes on and on. Do yourself a favor and do not rent here! read more

This place is so White Center. From the first time we went here after making a reservation because it was the only logical place for us to use between where we are and where we just moved from, had an overall terrible experience. Showed up 20 minutes before they closed, which from what i saw did not give cause to the unnecessarily rude and disrespectful attitude she had the entire time. Starting off by asking me if im "fucking serious" about wanting to pay for a storage unit I had made a reservation for. Which I was paying for in cash initially. After complaining to her co worker a short time she did what she had to and got me a lock and such. So we go start walking to the unit so she can show me everything and on the way continues to complain about me showing up late and how it's basically taking away from her time. Checking the clock it's still around ten mins before closing, but I keep quiet. We get to the storage unit which has obviously had numerous break ins over time, as well as obvious rodent issues. Didn't need much just any old unit so I decided to get it. Paid the 50 some dollars that they actually charge instead of their 1 dollar offers for the first month. And after filling everything out, putting our new address we now live at as the mailing address and my cell phone number as the contact, and finishing paying, it was still 2 minutes to close. I thank her and leave to take my fiance to the unit and store our stuff. Almost two months goes by, my fiance paid for the first one, the second month I had been working on my step dad's best friend's car for him doing body work and in exchange he agreed he would pay the upcoming month, but he had recently lost his card and reported it stolen. Thankfully checking accounts were allowed to be used online, so we had him fill the info out and everything seemed fine. Now here we are 5 days before the next payment date, and find out from my fiance's family member that for some unknown reason, that there is a lien on the unit, and we are supposed to be paying almost 200 dollars to access our belongings that from every angle on our end had gone through without any issues. They never got a hold of me through my cell phone, never sent any mail to our house, never sent an email stating anything wrong with the payment, but they did send a letter to the address registered to my fiances debit card account, where we don't even live or haven't visited since leaving. And expect us to pay almost 200 dollars. Based on my personal experience, every single public storage besides public storage, especially this one, has never allowed anything like that to be the case. We've had a payment method go bad and owed, and they actually got a hold of us at the storage on Vashon island. I personally believe this unpleasant lady is the reason that my fiance is now going to lose her late grandmother's belongings, and ashes. As well as a set of knives worth over 1200 dollars that are probably going to cost me the job that these belong to, and since I won't get paid in time when I called she didn't even give me the time of day to explain. Literally just said well sorry in the middle of me speaking and said I owe however much and that she had other customers to tend to and hung up. Never do business with this lazy blob. read more

I've had my (NON FOOD) belongings in a unit here for 8 months, and just went in to shuffle some things because I'm moving out of state in a few days and can't get my stuff from the storage for awhile yet. We got SHOWERED in rat poop when we went to take things out. We had to throw away any fabric furniture in there because anything on top was covered in pee, poop and little footprints. Unfortunately, I'm sure PS won't do a damn thing about it and will tell me to use my insurance, but I'm concerned about getting sick from all the rat waste. I have no choice but to leave my stuff there and I'm already upset they upped my rent from $80/mo to $110/mo for a 5x10 just in the last 8 month. DO NOT RENT A STORAGE UNIT HERE! This is this worst storage facility I have ever used!! Our unit was broken into and a month went by before we were notified. We had even come into the office to pay our monthly bill and nothing was said. Every thing that was in out unit was stolen except our Christmas decorations. For that I am grateful! Four other units were broken into at the same time as ours. The employees at this Public Storage know who broke into our unit and stole everything. They refused to tell the Police so, we have no recourse in pursuing getting our belongings back. It is even stated in the police report that they know who broke into and stole. Their security is terrible. There was a camera at they very end of an opposite hallway so nothing can be seen on camera. We had $9000 dollars of camping, backpacking and luggage taken. read more

I was moving into a place that didn't allow boats on the property or the street, and on my moving day the person buying my boat backed out. I had to find a place to store it, right away, and I didn't have time or desire to make a hundred phone calls and drive all over King County. I hadn't deal with storage units in 20 years and remembered nothing. She walked me through all the paperwork and explained all the options and choices thoroughly, was patient and understanding, and had a great sense of humor. Everything in the facility is clean and in good repair. The location was convenient, the grounds felt safe and secure, and my stress just melted away. I just spent a week helping my sister sort through her belongings she's been storing in a large unit at this location. Honestly, I need at least 2 more showers to start to feel clean. Her boxes and furniture were completely contaminated and damaged by rat feces and urine. The smell in the unit was... overwhelming. There were rat traps throughout the building, every few units, and outside, but clearly they aren't adequate. Did see half a dead rat in one trap (clearly, it'd been there awhile as it was completely desiccated and flattened)...and saw an employee walk by it, look at it, and walk off without removing the carcass or replacing the trap. Screams alerted me to the fact that my sister discovered another dead rat in one of her boxes. I would not recommend this location d/t maintenance concerns, as well as the minimal security, poor lighting and general grim. I have a unit at another West Seattle location and it's clean, with multiple layers of security. read more

Rent increased $50.00 after 6 months. Late fee is $37.00. Insurance is required which is $11.00 minimum per month. You must purchase Damprid or another moisture absorber as the external units are really damp. My unit also became full of dirt and debris which isn't something you expect when you pay for your items to be safe, secure, clean and dry. This place is awful. read more

Vandalism occurs on a regular basis and they don't warn you it is occurring. My van was vandalized, glass shattered all over, items stolen and interior smelled like smoke. Returned one day latter, doors were unlocked and mud all over, appears someone was living in my van. Removed my vehicle and the person behind the counter tells me this has happened to other vehicles. Do not store your vehicle at this site, area surrounded by homeless camps. read more

The place is great. Their rates are reasonable and the space is well maintained. Most importantly, the staff is fantastic. Rhiannan, the manager, is very friendly and very helpful. We have two spaces here that we use for business and we have shipments coming in on a very regular basis, so we likely create a lot more traffic here than your usual storage space rental, but Rhiannan and her crew are always ready and willing to help! They go well beyond what is required. For instance, when I had a delivery coming in that I couldn't be there to recieve, Rhiannan got them access to the unit, made sure everything was delivered, and then made sure the unit was closed up properly.
